I went to see Dr. Chloe because I have plantar fasciitis, on both feet. She analyzed my foot structure, spots where I have pain, and analyzed my walk, which not other podiatrist has done. Through my walk she caught something that many other doctors, physical therapist, and foot specialist missed. She took the time to evaluate mt various shoes and even my cycling ones. Her knowledge and professionalism is exceptional. Her staff was also very accommodating and responsive to emails. For example, they were very quick to help get my medical records from another podiatrist, helped me confirm which footwear I should buy by bridging my decision with the doctors knowledge, and sent the full summary of my visit. Going to a podiatrist isn't sexy. It's awkward, especially when you have weird feet like I think I have. I have my moms ugly toes and I also inherited her weirdly-shaped toenails, which recently have given me trouble: ingrown toenails on my big toes. I told you, it ain't sexy...and on top of that: it hurts! I found Dr Choe on Yelp and granted, I was a bit wary at first as some of the reviews aren't great. But then again: most doctors have mixed reviews as it's a very personal and sensitive experience. I had faith, though, in my ability to sort out the crappy reviews from the good ones and I also put faith in Dr Choe. And it paid off! On my first visit, Dr Choe evaluated my toe-situation and - frankly speaking - I didn't like what she told me: she suggested a matrixectomy, where the sides of the toenails, including the root, are trimmed so that they won't grow into the flesh anymore going forward. Surgery, albeit a minor one, no thank you! But after another ingrown toenail I relented: fine - go cut it off! The surgery itself is both fascinating and gross: I ended up watching as she performed the surgery on my numbed-up toe. I couldn't help but watch her probe around in my nail-bed...surfacing the root eventually. I wondered: is there such a thing as the toe fairy? Should I keep it and put it underneath my pillow? Following Dr. Choe's recommendation, I had surgery on each big toe separately - in two week intervals. I was pretty surprised to notice that I was able to walk right away and that the pain post-surgery was really minor, barely noticeable, in fact. And I actually quite enjoyed the twice-daily foot baths Dr Choe prescribed to me: they allowed (or rather forced) me to slow down my usually busy mind and behavior. Overall, I really enjoyed Dr Choe - she's a funny doctor and I liked our chats as she was operating on me. I also quite liked her receptionist, Isis. Isis was always so friendly and made me look forward to opening the door to the practice...knowing that Isis' smile would welcome me. read more

Returning patient 2024 update: AVOID this place. I had my third pair of custom orthotics made just over a couple of months ago. With the initial visit, the cost of orthotics and the fitting (where they just insert the orthotics in your shoes and literally do nothing else) appointment, the cost is almost $800. And here is the best part: if for some reason they completely mess the orthotics up so your feet are covered in blisters whenever you run a 5k (I'm a triathlete - 5k is supposed to be a walk in the park), then you just need to pay them more to fix them! 0 accountability, 0 responsibility!! Lovely business model, isn't it? I will NEVER EVER recommend Dr. Choe, Jonathan and Elevate to anyone, ever again. 0 stars if I could. read more

Possibly the most helpful medical visit I've had in the past decade. I originally came in to see what my options were for orthotics. But it went beyond just orthotics. Susan Choe was able to identify that I had a high possibility of having Hypermobility syndrome, a somewhat lesser known syndrome that maps to a lot of recent other physical ailments in my life. After two months of treating a plantar wart in Europe, I still needed to finish the treatment so I made an appointment with Dr Choe. Her treatment was not effective, we did one session and she said it was gone. two weeks later and the wart was fully back, after I asked for the same treatment I had in Europe she said she didn't have the topical acid and asked me to just get an over the counter one on the pharmacy. The wart is now fully back. It was been a big waste of time and money. Seems that now I need to start treatment from zero. I do not recommend Dr. Choe read more

The average in the area is far lower, and this discrepancy not only wasn't fixed after 3 hours on the phone with their office and private billing group, at each stage I was told that no one could look into why the bill was this inflated and not disclosed. read more

Maybe they are great docs and maybe not. Trying to get an open appointment slot with them on same day is a waste of my time, which they do not respect. The website invites a patient to select a time slot, and I needed to be seen today for a suspected fx. I supplied my info to the website as well. Then, as the time slot approached and no confirmation came back, I started calling. Five calls, no response. Refusal to have enough staff to schedule and to pick up the phones saves money for the docs, but it wastes patient time. read more

I have been an athlete for much of my life, and have been suffering from what two other doctors told me was early arthritis in my left foot (years of kickboxing, playing football, etc.), and that there wasn't much that I'd be able to do. Not wanting to endure this discomfort for the rest of my life, I sought the opinion of another podiatrist. When Dr. Sellers examined my foot and updated x-ray imaging, she informed me that I did not have noticeable arthritis, and that my condition was probably easily treatable. I was surprised that when she watched me walk, she was able to determine that my hip and leg tightness (I'm very muscular) was most likely contributing to my foot issue. A simple biomechanics and stretching treatment plan in addition to wearing my orthotics (custom ones that I already had from a foot center) has already resulted in significant improvement (two weeks of treatment). I now have days where I forget that I even have a foot issue. I am looking forward to continuing my treatment plan in the coming weeks to eventually be pain free. read more

I have come to Elevate for a few different problems, and each time it ends up wasting a months of time and hundreds of dollars. It really seems like Dr Choe is just guessing at treatments, rather than actually solving the underlying problem. She generally prescribes a fire hose of treatments (stretches, over-the-counter orthotics, foot braces), but none of them ever solved my problems. In the end, I would go to a physical therapist, and they would fairly quickly figure out what is wrong and start me on a treatment plan that actually worked. Perhaps my specific problems were just too obscure, but I also feel like there is a huge communication problem. When I first saw them, I was told to do foot/calf stretches, but no specific discussion of what stretches and how often. When I came in several weeks later, they told me to do different stretchs. So, I tried those, only to come in weeks later to hear that I need to stretch more often. Something similar happened with orthotics, where they told me to buy "Sole", which has many different variations, and also sounds like a competing company "Sol" when spoken. As you might guess, I had to buy several different insoles before I guessed the correct ones that Dr Choe had meant for me to buy. Lastly, when I first went there, she told me that my X-rays had signs of arthritis. When I asked her about it in future visits, she looked at me like I was crazy. Again, mistakes happen, but each time there was an issue, Dr Choe was very quick to deflect or even get upset that I didn't read her mind. read more

She recommended an urgent MRI and surgery, neither of which was necessary as I learned by consulting with another more nuanced , caring, articulate, and friendly Dr. who was an excellent communicator and took extra time with me to answer all questions in a warm, respectful (NOT BERATING) manor. Dr. Sahra Sellers is one of the best doctors I have ever met, if not the best! If she were a general doctor I'd ask her to be her patient in a heartbeat. I came to Dr. Sellers because I had dropped something on my foot and couldn't walk. From the very beginning, Dr. Sellers listened carefully to my story, and validated my concerns. Prior to Dr. Sellers another doctor in another practice had misdiagnosed me, causing my foot to get worse and worse, and I was starting to feel hopeless. Dr. Sellers listened to me carefully and with empathy. After talking to Dr. Sellers I immediately regained hope that we could correctly diagnose my foot and that it could heal, and in fact all of that turned out to be true! Dr. Sellers did some x-Rays and an MRI to properly diagnose my foot, and then took the time to lay out a careful plan for healing my foot. She told me exactly what to do and what not to do every step of the way, and we met every few weeks for a few months as my foot slowly healed. As others have mentioned Dr. Sellers takes a truly holistic approach to healing. She made sure to refer me to a physical therapist to address some neck issues I have had unrelated to my foot, as well as to enable me to get back to sports safely. Dr. Sellers also prescribed blood work to understand the whole picture of how I was doing. She also paid attention to my mental health - I felt truly cared for throughout my time working with her, and that was immensely helpful to my healing. If you are looking for a podiatrist who will truly care about you and your health, and who will take the time to understand your health holistically, look no further than Dr. Sellers! She then told me they would completely erase my bill if I removed my review from Yelp and Google. When I asked for this in writing I received a threatening email from this "Spa". Holy shit, bullet dodged. I just read their draconian policies and glad I'm not signed up now for a series of appointments here. Btw, their appointment reminders come with a long list of policies, potential charges you may incur, etc... but one thing it does NOT include is the time and date of that appointment. You'll get multiple reminders about the appointment coming up and all the policies but no hint of date or time unless you have already calendared that earlier on your own. But cannot find that information in your email... I was 10 minutes late for my appointment, which was at 9am. Knowing it is a very busy time for Uber on weekday mornings and not having a car (which I wouldn't be able to find parking for in this area if I did), I left my house in mission/Hayes at 815. Unfortunately Uber dropped me off in the tenderloin and I had to walk around thru the tenderloin to get here, in the rain. When I got here, the tone and manner of the admin was very reproachful and admonishing, although with a syrupy voice, before I ever got the chance to apologize for being late. Like I was a small child who was late, rather than a person who ran into trouble getting to your spot, and people have to take time off work to even get here in the first place!!! There was no way to see me, apparently, so I'd need to make another appointment in this holiday season, when I'd taken the time off of work, paid for a $18 Uber pool in the rain and pre-9am traffic (ubers are so expensive now!), walked thru the tenderloin in the rain. I didn't foresee being able to take another morning off work to be able to run through this song and dance again, so I declined to make an appointment, since I'd have to check my work calendar which was not available. "Okay bai!!" ::insert fakest smile ever:: says front desk girl Now reading the reviews, it doesn't sound like a one-time magic bullet but that they try to extend into multiple visits to squeeze more out of you as a widget to charge the insurance company, so perhaps I dodged a bullet. Downgrading EP to a 1-star. I've ceased my visits for over a 1.5 months and I still get bills. After just two visits, I've received over 4 statements. Every statement does not describe what you're being charged for and you can only leave a EP a voicemail to discuss charges - and they don't call you back. The problem is your bill has a due date so you're kind of forced to pay it or else they'll probably go to collections. I just want EP out of my life and it seems I can't escape them because they have my insurance information and address. You know when you take time off from work to go to the doctors and get a solution to your problem? My biggest piece of advice is to make the appointment somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, the doctor is very knowledgeable and smart, i would give her 10/5 stars, but the practice has clearly outgrown what she's capable of handling. I made an appointment to treat my plantar fasciitis because my main doctor said this is the best doctor to help. I came in a couple weeks ago and had a great experience and was excited to fix this with my doctor. Then was supposed to have a follow up today to get custom insoles or to get this resolved. Neither of which happened and when i wanted to speak to the front desk about why i was slightly frustrated that i left work early to come in for something that didn't happen or simply asked her to double check with my insurance that the specific facility she wanted to get my insoles done at (which she made me call to make sure they're covered in the first place) she said she doesn't do that. She was rude and short and giving me attitude on why she's right and I'm wrong. The doctor is extremely smart and great, the practice is now just too big for her. Waste of time and money. Dr.Choe spent less than 5 min with me to discuss an injured toe and told me to send x-rays for her to review. Didn't even take the time to confirm receipt of my x-rays, I had to follow up three times to ask. And never called to share any kind of comments or acknowledgement of her review of my x-rays. WOW. A rude, unprofessional male receptionist doublebooked my last appointment, then cancelled right before I arrived. Oh well I needed a day off. Upon arrival of the rescheduled apt the receptionists very rudely demanded that I pay for both visits, stating that was their policy!? Go figure! Needless to day Johnathan and Dr. Choe agreed with me and waived the charges. I just tried to make an apt to have my failed pair remade, despite the fact that my insurance carrier no longer endorses them and at a cost of ~$500 plus an additional $100 a visit. Before I came to Elevate Podiatry, I was at the end of my patience with my ankle issues as nothing seemed to work and other health professionals (orthopedic surgeons, MDs) were pointing me to surgery, but I decided to go to an actual podiatrist who focuses on foot issues and found Elevate online. They have been nothing but exceptional through my entire experience. The office staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly; office is also clean and easy to get to via public transportation or walking, and located in a safe part of the city. Dr. Sellers herself is unlike any other doctor I've seen. She was always patient, has the best bedside manners, and never made me feel rushed during our appointments. I felt listened to with care and attention and never dismissed for my symptoms. I always felt like we were on the same page in our communication because Dr. Sellers would take the time to understand me instead of assuming and then misdiagnosing me as other docs have done. She also explained things very clearly to a plebeian non-medical mind and helped me understand my injury and how to best treat it - a sign of someone who really knows their stuff! Dr. Sellers also had a holistic approach to my injury and recovery, and would connect a lot of my other bodily issues, so we not only helped with my ankle injury but other chronic discomforts I've had (knees, hips, back). Dr. Sellers also focuses on fixing the underlying issues to problems, instead of just prescribing superficial maintenance, which saved me a lot of time and money in the long run, by actually fixing me instead of bandaid-ing my injury. I really appreciate her thorough, sensible, knowledgeable, holistic, and well-researched approach. I remember the first day I came in to Elevate Podiatry (after seeing several other doctors who didn't help), my desperation for help was probably super obvious and Dr. Sellers said something along the lines of: "If your ankle still hurts before our second appointment with me, don't give up and cancel. Elevate was recommended to me by a friend, and I would 100% recommend them to others as well. I have visited Elevate and Dr. Tsou for a little over a year now and could not be more impressed with the the environment, the staff, and the care I received. The environment - the appointment process is super easy which says a lot for a doctor's office, and they made the insurance portion very visible and easy to understand as well. The office itself is in a convenient location, has a nice ambiance, and uses state of the art technology. The staff - Dr. Tsou and staff members remember me and are always friendly, making every visit pleasant. They do a great job of balancing getting to know you and providing care. The care - I first went in because I had been having pretty consistent foot pain and an inkling that I had bunions, I did. My end goal had always been to get surgery, but I went through the conservative methods first to see if that would help and also out of time convenience. Dr. Tsou's recommendation for both orthotics and later, cortisone shots (for the neuromas my bunions had caused) helped the pain I had been experiencing. Ultimately I opted to have bunion surgery on my right foot, which Dr. Tsou completed herself and did an amazing job, as I was back on my foot in no time with no complications. Post surgery I had several check-up appointments with xrays to ensure everything was healing great. 3 months later I am fully healed, back to full activity, and have graduated from the office ... until I decide to get the other foot done :) read more

I am so glad I found this place. Foot infections are no joke, and Everytime I've visited a 'normal' pedi place my thoughts ran wild on the cleanliness of their tools and foot tub. This place is exciting, worry free, calming and beautiful. I will also be fitted for orthotics to be able to run long distance and nip my foot and knee aches. Oh! Had a great experience here with Dr. Sellers and her staff. They were friendly, efficient, and had their sh*t together. Dr. Sellers herself is sweet and thorough. I originally went in for a consultation for a sharp pain on the heel of my foot, which she helped me pinpoint was a nerve strain. She told me what measures to take to prevent it from worsening, and was efficient and quick with setting up follow ups. From that consultation, I immediately trusted her, and went ahead and consulted her knowledge regarding pain around my feet when I wear booties or heeled shoes for an extended period of time. We did a couple of X-rays right then and there, and scheduled a couple of more meetings, which led me to my personalized orthotics. No one really likes feet, but I felt comfortable and at ease with the professionals examining and taking care of them at this office. :) read more

This place solves the problem for anyone who has major concern about "do they really clean their tools well here?" The answer is YES! Half Podiatry Medical Office and half Pedicure Spa, so the cleaning process is absolutely hospital standard here, they don't mess around! WHAT I GOT: -Elevate Signature Spa Pedicure $65 -Kim was my pedicurist. She was very detail and courteous. -Once I sat down, she offered me a neck warmer. Oh boy, that was nice. -Service included the complete nail cleaning and polish. She took a good 10-15mins to use this medical machine to remove my callus on my feet. Then, she put on this paraffin that was divine! She also told me that they don't double dip hot wax here so everything is one time use. -Finally, to stress "high clean standard," Kim took out this tube thing and took out the nail polish to an one-time-use bottle. Afterwards, I got a small touchup bottle to take home. IN SUMMARY: -SUPER clean place with hospital standard. Everything here is literally one time use and never double dip. -Friendly staff. -Little pricy but it's definitely a peace of mind. TIP: -Compliment drinks (tea, coffee, sparking water, even wine) -Free small touch up nail polish to take home -Free consultation. I was having a lot of pain in my left foot that left me limping. Based off of good yelp reviews, I decided to try Elevate. My first appointment was with Dr. Sellers, She looked at my foot, had ex rays taken and told me that I had what's almost a stress fracture simply from wear and tear over the years, but that it would be fixable over time. She sold me a post op bootie that I had to limp around Chicago in the snow in and told me to come back to get custom orthotics. These cost about $500, but I figured anything to stop the pain, so I set up a follow up appointment. The next appointment that I thought was to get fitted for the orthotics was with Dr. Choe. She grabbed my ex rays and chart, and asked what Dr. Sellars had told me. I relayed what she had told me about the stress fracture, and she scoffed. She sat down, told me that what her colleague had said was incorrect, and that I actually had arthritis (I'm 32 years old). She did not go into what type of arthritis or anything, and was very unsympathetic. I naturally had a bunch of questions, and she told me that it was moderate now, and that orthotics would help but that I should get surgery to replace the bones in my foot in a few years. She then looked at her watch and said "we took too long talking and I can't fit you for orthotics, we might be able to get halfway done but we won't finish." It costs about $120 per visit, and she was trying to squeeze a 3rd visit out of me. Her demeanor, lack of information, and frankly nuclear diagnosis that undermined her colleague left me terrified and crying. In a moment of clarity I decided just to leave, request my records and ex rays, and not get the expensive orthotics. I left confused, still in pain, and at a loss of what to do. I have never had a worse medical experience where I felt more like a fool and taken advantage of. It made me avoid dealing with the problem for several more months as the pain worsened. Thank god for One Medical. Save yourself a truly awful experience with people who are clearly motivated by squeezing as much money as possible out of you, and trying to push you into unnecessary surgeries rather than providing care. I had a fantastic experience at Elevate Podiatry. Dr. Tsou and all of her staff is caring, knowledgeable and skillful. I had surgery to straighten out my hammertoes. She very clearly laid out the recovery plan and was patient in dealing with my questions and trying to fully understand when I'd be able to do what. It took about 6 weeks to recover and was a bit challenging but I'm now pretty much fully recovered (just doing some follow up PT) and very happy with the treatment I got at Elevate Podiatry. read more

Crooks and quacks At first I thought Elevate was a great practice given the set up of the office and the demeanour of Dr. Sellers. I started being a patient to get a hammer toe fixed on my right foot. To "help me" the office quickly sold me a new pair of shoe orthotics that cost me over $500. The orthotics were not sturdy and I could see they would easily break. I was told that they fix them for you. I was also told given I had major surgery coming to postpone fixing the hammer toe. A year later the orthotics broke and my left foot now had a hammer toe too. They office sold me another pair of orthotics as it would take 3 weeks to repair the first pair. They knew I could not walk without them so I had no choice but to buy a second pair. They then attempted to overcharge me $130 for the second pair AND $120 to "repair" the broken piece of foam on the first pair! On top of that their cure for fixing the hammer toes is to tape them down. This changed 180 degrees from the first diagnosis. I now have shooting pain and swelling in my feet, a broken pair of orthotics they refuse to fix and am out nearly $500 for the second pair. The doctors claim they have no power of the office staff who rips you off and the office staff blames the doctors. Don't get suckered in, go elsewhere! read more
