One of my summer goals is to get away from Starbucks and wow I might just move into Elevate. If only it wasn't Corona season. :( I got an iced latte and it's so smooth and light. Honestly one of the best I've had. The person working made small talk with me while I waited, which was really nice. Finding myself in this neighborhood, needing to kill time between appointments, and it being way past lunchtime, I decided to Yelp espresso shops with food. First you should be aware that the shop is really 1 or 2 doors north of the address listed on Yelp. Once I found the place I was pleased with the aesthetics- bright and minimalist. We were greeted kindly by the barista and we each made our coffee selections. I normally don't order something as sweet as I did, in terms of specialty drinks, and I was afraid I'd be sorry. We also ordered a grilled cheese to share and we were fairly warned that it would take about 10 minutes. I went to retrieve the car and by the time I got back everything was ready, problem was that also by the time I got back my coffee was cool (bad planning on my part). As for the sweetness level, yes, it was sweeter than I normally drink but good nonetheless. The grilled cheese was pretty darn good and very satisfying for a late lunch on a bitter cold day. It was $12 and comes with potato chips. Currently allowing indoor dining and the tables are spread very far apart from one another, well over 6ft apart. read more

The reason why I am giving a 3 is because the owner of this place was hesitant to give me refill for my latte. Like I spent $5 at your establishment and he's like oh well we can't give tea for a refill, only coffee and plus you got a latte. Like what the hell?! I spent more than what a coffee costs (because you only do decaf with a latte?) and you're saying no to a customer?? For example, Starbucks coffee may taste bitter but at least they understand a refill is a refill...is a refill. You don't need to just a get a coffee or tea at starbucks to get a refill. I think they can be more open about this because they will lose customers this way. And no I'm not just comparing this place to methods of corporate companies but other coffee shops also offer refills (free or for a cheaper price than the first drink) that are small and private owned (Like Ridmans, breakfast diners, etc.) Regardless of the lack of refills, the atmosphere has quiet music, is clean, has hygienic bathrooms, and has good coffee. I like how the coffee was not bitter and did not have an aftertaste. Reminded me of Europe to be honest. read more

I spent a delightful, relaxing, rainy Tuesday morning here. Enjoyed a well-made cafe au lait in a lovely mug followed by a light roast refill. As a coffee person coffee is the most important part of the coffee shop experience and Elevate delivered. The decor is lovely. Excellent natural light. The vibe is calmly energizing. Playlist pleasant and varied without being overpowering or distracting. Service was friendly and efficient. Clean and comfortable. If I lived in Chicago this would be my go-to spot. read more

I'm not one to write reviews but felt inclined to share my experience, as it was far from acceptable. I'm visiting from out of town and thought it would be good to support a local coffee shop. While looking at their website and menu, I saw there was an option to order online so decided to place our order before we arrived, as most would assume that would save time and avoid waiting in line, especially on a weekend. Shortly after placing the order, I received an email saying it would be about 30 minutes for our 2 coffees and 3 breakfast items... all good - again, I know they're busy. We decided to drive instead of walk last minute so we arrived sooner than planned but found a table to wait at. I received a call shortly after that they needed to modify our breakfast order and they were running behind the estimated time of 30 minutes, to which I replied "no worries, we're here so whenever it's ready." After waiting about 20 minutes, our order was brought out by someone in the back who proceeded to loudly scold me in front of the entire coffee shop saying "just so you know, it's the weekend and we're really busy and we stick to our order times", basically insinuating I should have planned my time better. After responding "no worries" several times, she kept going for about 2 minutes. I've worked in customer service and the restaurant industry for 10+ years and understand when places get busy. Not once did I complain about the wait but was treated as though I inconvenienced everyone waiting as well as the staff, in front of the 15+ people just there to enjoy their morning coffee. Regardless how my statement was received, a customer should NEVER be treated that way. I spent $50 and made sure to tip my standard 20%.. what a waste of money and time. So good! Staff is so friendly and very accommodating. I recently had to adopt a dairy free and soy free diet which has been difficult! They allowed me to sample the milk alternatives, offered to make it several times until I loved it (which wasn't necessary because the first thing they made was delicious!). I also ordered a sandwich. The chef came out and went over all the options with me and made me a delicious sandwich which isn't easy without cheese in my opinion. Everything was perfect!
