Anita, the owner of Bridal Reflections, is amazingly helpful and sweet. She runs her business out of her home (above a dentists office), so don't be thrown off when you get there. The entire second floor is filled with amazing dresses. The selection was better than any bridal store I'd visited before. The bride to be had a specific gown in mind for me to wear and Anita found it immediately, and then spoke on the phone to another bridesmaid who lives in North Carolina to order the same dress for her. The prices were much less than other bridal stores. She passes on the discount she gets from having a home based business straight to you. I paid a deposit using my credit card. She asks for half up front, and half when the dress arrives. I hope to bring my own bridesmaids to see Anita when I get married next year.

The other bridesmaids are in Nevada, Missouri, Texas, and Virginia and we were just going to do a bulk order, but I didn't have money at the time so the bride let me order mine on my own.. "It's okay if it's not dyed with the other ones.. I mean the maid of honor can be slightly off color, right?" Well that line worked. After calling at least 4 other places in the area, I spoke with Anita of Bridal Reflections. BR is Anita's business that she runs from her home in Watertown (she also has a place in Belmont where she shows dresses I believe). Seemed semi-strange at first, but we're all trying to make a buck these days and I'd heard good things, so I went ahead and bought it with Anita. She gave me the sweetest price too. Probably about $40-60 less than her competitors (and she told me prices without sounding exasperated). I don't know remember if I told her about my lack of funds or if she could sense my desperation, but she told me I could pay for half of it now and then pay for the rest when the dress arrived. Amazing. Seriously amazing for those of you who know about my 3 apartment debacle from this summer. Fast forward to a little over a month later and the dress arrived early! Anita came to the rescue again. When she found out I was having issues getting down to Watertown and that I would be taking a bus, she wouldn't have it. She took my credit info over the phone, charged me the balance, and shipped the dress that day. I received it by the end of the next business day! Seriously, Anita is the nicest wedding affiliated woman I've ever met. OH and I almost forgot, last time I chatted with her, she recommended a woman she's been working with on alterations for forever. I haven't chatted with her yet, but if she's been working with Anita.. she's gotta be good!

Margherita was extremely nice, talented and quick with the dress I brought her. I had a tough off…read morethe shoulder, asymmetrical dress with 2 different types of fabric and she took it in multiple sizes (I think it was 12 and I was a 6!). She was also really accommodating in terms of fitting times since I worked out of state on weekdays. In three weeks Margherita finished tailoring my dress and the results were fantastic, bustle and all, and I went happily on my way. A couple of things that I wish could be improved - When I first commissioned her we agreed on one price and then she called the next week to say she underestimated the work and it would cost $50 more, but that she felt badly since it was her mistake so could we just split it down the middle. I agreed but thought it was a strange. The other thing was that since I was traveling to a different state for the wedding she didn't press the dress, which I understand because it gets wrinkled anyway. However, the part where she shortened the dress (new folds created) she didn't press either, so I had to do it myself to create that nice even line at the bottom, which given the price I would assume she would have helped with.

I was unimpressed by the service I received by them and the way they calculated measurements (Those services don't actually take measurements and you have input the information yourself). I also had bad experiences with Men's Warehouse in the past with other weddings that I have attended as a groomsmen. I realized that there was a local option in Waltham for me to check out. The staff at Formalwear Ltd were very friendly and knowledgeable. I visited the store multiple times as I collaborated with them and my fiance to select the perfect tux combination for my wedding. I picked up my tux a couple of days before the wedding and the size for some of the parts of it were off, but it was no problem at all as they overnighted the correct sizes. Everything fit perfectly for my wedding. If you need to rent a suit or tux for a local event, I highly recommend them!

Sadly just a few months before her wedding it was cancelled. My daughter was flying in for a scheduled fitting with Dao and on top of finishing her fitting properly with no rush to pick up her dress when completed, Dao gave her a discount as well as bestowing my daughter lovely, kind words of wisdom and encouragement and told her that she was meant for someone better and this cancellation was just the way to make room for it to happen . My friend and I both had our wedding dresses tailored with Dao (without knowing the other was…read morecoming here too!). In general, there will be 3 appointments spaced out over a couple months. Surprisingly, the appointments are not very long. The first appointment, I wore the dress and Dao immediately told me a list of things she needed to fix (things that I am clueless about so I cannot verify if true or not) and provides a quote/invoice. The second appointment is a double check. The final appointment was my longest one as I asked her to make a small tweak, which she did on the spot. I did notice that the dress felt more supportive and structured on the last visit due to the work she did (adding boning etc). She usually has one other associate working in the shop and together, they are extremely good at hyping you up as you try on the dress. Cost wise, my friend and I both spent about $1K each on our dresses. In summary, Dao is very confident in her skills and vision and it is clear she has a lot of experience in wedding dresses as her entire shop is lined with wedding dresses. PS. My friend looked STUNNING on her wedding day - the dress fit like a glove and was so flattering. She told me you can take the dress back after your appointments if you need more work. PPS. There is free street parking.
