I would give elements 2.5 stars if that was an option. Here's the deal, my husband and I have lived at Elements for the past 2 years, we moved here from NYC, site unseen, and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
The interior of the complex is very nice, although the landscaping doesn't seem to be maintained, it does feel like a private oasis. Other community amenities are nice as well- the gym, lounge, movie room etc. One complaint about the interior of the complex is that the lights to light up the walkways always seem to be out so it makes it relatively dark at night and kind of scary.
The maintenance staff is great, super responsive, very helpful and overall great attitudes and very nice. In the past the office staff was quite rude and disingenuous; however, Jei, the new manager seems to be very motivated to improve the community, and Veronica (leasing) is really sweet.
My #1 complaint about elements (and a reason we are likely going to end our lease) is security. They always promise 24 hour surveillance, yet I have never seen a security guard. My car as well as many neighbors has been broken into (in the garage). The neighborhood is dicey- I don't walk alone at night, the community is somewhat isolated so there is really no place to run to for help if something were to happen. The VTA stop outside is very convenient, however it leads to some sketchy people lurking around the complex. Just yesterday a "mentally unstable" guy got off the VTA, hopped the fence into the complex at 1pm in the afternoon, broke into a females apartment (while she was home) and locked himself in her bathroom, eventually the cops were called and there were about 15 cops throughout the complex with assault rifles drawn. This was incredibly jarring and another note to the severe lack of security.
My #2 complaint is definitely the functionality of key property features. The gates to the garage are ALWAYS broken. I mean at least once a month, most recently it was down for like 3 weeks. Just very inconvenient. They kept saying they were waiting for a part, but the gates go down so often it's a wonder they don't just invest in new ones. Also, elevators seem to be down quite a bit.
#3 cleanliness. By the end of the week the trash rooms are filled to the brim with garbage, it smells and attracts flies and other weird bugs. The hallways are littered with pet urine.
Overall, I think elements just needs a facelift. It's very outdated and rundown. It needs new gates, new carpet in the hallways, if it is such a pet friendly community it should offer a place for pets other than one slab of grass.
Due to lack of security and lack of updates we are likely to be moving out. read more
