Elements is one of my favorite places in Chapel Hill! I have been there for intimate dates, small business gatherings, and large parties, and the service has always been impeccable and seamless. The staff is so professional, fast, and friendly. The lighting is perfect and it is quiet enough that you can enjoy conversation yet not feel like you are interrupting other diners if your group is loud. I love that each meal starts with an amuse bouche that changes daily and is always seasonal and delicious. The menu has some of my perennial favorites (The eggplant and tofu is one of my favorite dishes) but has such lovely seasonal additions. I look forward to meals here more than anywhere else in the Triangle! read more

Elements has sushi on Friday and Saturday. The sushi is amazing! The fish melts in your mouth like butter and is refreshing. The sushi donut appetizer is Devine. We had a variety of sushi and loved it. It is expensive but your paying for great quality. I would highly recommend elements to anyone who wants to go on a romantic dinner, anniversary or celebration. The chocolate cake and coconut cake for dessert was delicious and a huge slice so well worth it. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a pan asian gourmet experience read more

The food is definitely five-star. It is a bit expensive, which led to my four-star rating, but what food.... Sadly, the divine Ahi tuna entree I had (one of the best meals in any restaurant ever) is no longer on the menu. Elements' menu changes often, as I have been told by habitues, and if there is something about which you have heard but which you do not see listed you might try mentioning it; they may bring it back. Our waitress was charming, extremely conversant with every menu item, and her recommendations were excellent. Summer rolls among the most subtle and delicate ever; wonderful beet salad, unusual and superb shrimp bisque, lovely lemongrass chicken (with the vegetarian option), bun cha, Siam salmon Wellington.....and don't pass up the Saigon Affogato for dessert. Delectable, highly distinguished food. read more

Second visit, this time for lunch . Delicious tuna tacos with a side salad ( simple but tasty and fresh ). It is run by the Owner/ Chef family ( servers etc.....). Great Service , great food. Did not know they had sushi , had the salmon nigiri ( great quality fish ). It is classy , trendy and good at the same time. We need more places like that in Chapel Hill. read more

We went to this place on a whim and I'm so glad we did. We needed a place to eat on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate us without reservations. Big win. It's fairly modern and really nice although I didn't feel out of place at all in my jeans and sweater. For drinks, we got the margarita (sour but fresh) and a blackberry drink that was sweet and really yummy. For apps, we started with the mussels and the sashimi platter. The sashimi platter was probably the best thing we got all night... OMG it was so good and very fresh. The mussels were pretty good, but the broth was fantastic... we ended up drinking it all with a spoon. Not joking. For our entree, we got a chilean sea bass special that they offered that night and it was perfectly cooked. A total hit with my picky partner. After how good everything was, we couldn't skip dessert... so we shared the coconut cake and the apple pie. I don't even like coconut and I liked the coconut cake. It had these really yummy layers of cream that made it really stand out. The apple pie was also great - an empanada style apple pie with a perfectly cooked pastry crust. First class place and meal. read more

Service is decent, but the menu is limited and it seems like a wine bar with a restaurant built around it. I was impressed with the 100% health code ranking, especially as they serve sushi. Well I assume they serve sushi, as I was given a menu, but the "sushi bar" was not staffed. I tried their anniversary menu for $30, which was a decent deal given their regular menu prices, but the food was disappointing. Parking is tight and I had to park on the street, not too bad of a walk, but I assume on weekends this area gets crowded. read more

Delicious food - from the bread and salmon pate + chips they bring to you to your entree. I loved my Vietnamese seafood stew - very unique flavors with a pleasant fragrant/sweet finish. My husband also really loved his scallop and blue crab entree - again, a great mix of spices you may not think would go together but do in a beautiful way. This is definitely a restaurant I would come back to. I also really liked the contemporary style and layout of the restaurant; this is exactly the type of restaurant I think an Asian fusion restaurant should model. 5 stars for food and 4 stars for service (they forgot my utensils and noodles - but the main waitress was very kind and brought these items to me as soon as she knew). Overall, this was a memorable dining experience. read more

Elements - Asian Fusion Near Me - Chapel Hill, North Carolina

I tell people I'm easy to please, but hard to impress. Well, Elements knocked my socks off. It's 10:30 the morning after, and I am already craving their food. A gal pal and I had pre-existing reservations on a Monday after work, and as it turned out, we both had stressful days. Time for a drink! Their beer selection was short, but I tried a Sam Adams winter snap white (?), and it paired nicely with the Asian Fusion that was to come. Her eyes never made it past the ginger mojito. Both were served in tall, slender pilsner glasses, which added a little fun chic to our ladies evening out. I had the walnut prawns (recommended by a group of doctors we work with who were dining at a table nearby), and they were heaven. A wonderful mix of sweet and spicy. I will get the same dish every time I come back, I just know it! The only thing on the item not recommended by the docs who are regulars is the steak, which they had on special. No problem there, as that's now what I'm looking for when I come to a place like this anyway. read more

I want to give five stars for the ambiance and facilities which are very pleasant, relaxing, and clean. I love the outdoor seating. The owners are very friendly and helpful. As a fusion restaurant, you'll find very interesting menu choices. Some may raise your eyebrows. Rest easy, as I've not ordered anything that wasn't completely delicious, hot (if it's supposed to be), and freshly made. I recommend the Walnut Prawns and daily Bento Box. Downside: it's closed on Sunday. read more

Awesome dining experience - miss Michael... Been a long time since Prestonwood and An! Had to get the honey walnut prawns for old times sake - Bo Luc Lac -steak really great with blue cheese salad. Can't wait to go back! read more

We went on one of the sushi nights and I had the Asparagus roll and White Dragon roll. They were delicious! Nice decor/atmosphere. Server was friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back and try something from the dinner menu! read more

Fabulous wine, salad, sushi, and service. Highly recommend! I was impressed with all of the food. Exceptional.

The curbside is great and we ate on their patio last week! Cozy setting with lots of gas lamps and lights! Food is as fabulous as before Covid. We love their sushi, wedge salad, all the fish entrees... pretty much everything! read more

What an awesome dining experience! Love the wine wall. The dinner was superb with excellent variety. The service was professional and the owner was in the store ensuring his customers were pleased. One of the best I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying! read more

This is our go to date night place in Chapel Hill. They have an incredible wine assortment, I like the wine dispensers because you can have small tastes of some great wines, and the food is always incredible. Some of our regular menu item go to's are the calamari, Saigon noodles, and coconut cake. If they are having sushi when you go, get it. It's the best I've had and you will not be let down. Chef Michael and his team do an amazing job. I have eaten here over 10 times and have never had a bad meal or experience. He soft shell crab (when available) is also amazing. Again, we have not ever had a disappointing experience here. If you are in Chapel Hill, this place should be on your list of favorites! read more

Great Asian fusion! We had the grouper, noodles and lamb shank. All were excellent. The waiter was very attentive. Great special occasion place! read more

This is an easy restaurant to miss due to the location, however, make sure you find it. Elements is my favorite place to go with friends and order lots of appetizers and then share. On top of their food their wine selection is also great. I have discovered some of my favorite wines by tasting off their menu. read more

This restaurant is perplexing: We've attended 4-5 x's or so over 3 years -The kitchen is excellent; the food beautifully prepared; unusual dishes and nuanced preparation; wine list one of the best in the area -Service: invariably outstanding -BUT: the over-the-top NOISE level in the dining room makes it impossible to have conversations. We dine out at least weekly, and we go out with friends to socialize and speak with them. I came home hoarse from nearly having to yell to be heard. We had stopped going to elements about a year ago, because of the noise, but hoped this time, an early Wed. evening (6 pm) would solve the problem. It didn't: the place was only 1/2 full and yet it was deafening by 7:15 pm. There is nothing to absorb sound: no table cloths, drapes, carpets, etc; all surfaces are hard and reflect/intensify loud voices and laughter. We get it: people are out and having a good time. But owners: please do something to make civilized talk possible. Until then, regretfully, we won't return. read more

Elements is my favorite restaurant in Chapel Hill. The Chef is definitely the best, bringing excellent and tasty dishes both traditional Asian and new or fusion. The service staff is excellent as well. read more

I love both the food and the service. We split salads and entrees and the waitstaff were so helpful and accommodating. This is always my go to place to take visitors. Always dependable for the best selections, food and service. read more

Going out to eat is so often anticlimactic and my husband and I usually go to the same places over and over. This is one of the best restaurants that I have been to in a VERY LONG TIME. I went with lady friends, but I will be taking my husband back sometime, despite the 35 minute drive. I ordered the special, the sea bass...it was DELICIOUS. More than the food being wonderful, the atmosphere was fantastic, which is half the dining experience (at least for me!). read more

The only thing good here was the atmosphere and the service. Food wise, an absolute disappointment. Bún ch had some of the driest pork I've ever had. Other dishes were subpar at best and unexpectable at this price point. If you're going to try to make an Asian fusion, maybe try tasting authentic Asian cuisine first. Tasted almost that the base of the recipes came from one of the online facebook videos. read more

Amazing Asian-fusion restaurant. This restaurant is family owned and they treated me like family by modifying the dishes to my taste. The food was exceptional and so was the atmosphere and service. One of the most fun, delicious meals I've eaten in a while. I highly recommend this restaurant when you were in Chapel Hill. read more

This place is great! The service and food is first class. The fish, chops, and steak are unbelievable. I could eat here everyday!!!!!!

Had made a reservation the evening before - specifically asking about glutten free and veggie options for our guests - this was entered into the computer. After a 2 circle tour of the parking area we finally found something on the back street. Is the stage being set - this is only the beginning. We arrived and seated immediately; however, this is where it began to deteriorate - 15 minutes before a wait staff acknowledged us and forty five minutes before we placed our order (after flagging down the wait person). The wait person didn't know about any of the glutten free or veggie options ( actually clueless - other than a "veggie" platter). Remember I had requested this option the night before. Another hour passed before our food was delivered. The Trigger fish was great, the rack of lamb was "fatty" (more fat than meat). The food was not quite to the expectation of the group (although it was good and garner's an OK rating, but room for improvement). Wine prices are high - considering quality - with substandard stem ware (restaurant grade only), hoping if we had chosen the reserve list that we would have received better stems. The service - as you might imagine was deplorable and I don't feel one should have to signal your wait person for every request. The dining area very cramped, the tables are to small; and I think sitting in the bar area would have been a far better option for room and noise control - don't call this an "energetic" environment - it was down right noisy. I have to say I was very disappointed with my first experience and it will be a long time before I consider a return (at least on my dollar)! That is the my view from the Hill. RBMx read more

Pros: The room we were not seated in was fairly quiet. Cons: They do not honor reservations in a timely manner. We arrived at the time of our reservation and were told our table was being cleared. We had to wait forty five minutes to be seated. It was another fifteen before our server arrived to take drink orders. The servers appeared to be high school age with no training. Silverware was not replaced after dishes were removed. We had to request adequate flatware multiple times. The main room was extremely loud. My group resorted to nonverbal communication because it was impossible to have a conversation. The food was mediocre. They do not adjust music volume to compensate for overly loud patrons. This could have helped with the overly loud room. Far and away the worst dining experience I've had. read more

Delicious filet mignon and tuna dishes. Service was excellent. Wish the restauraunt felt more cozy since at the time it was mostly empty which was made more evident by the large size. Perhaps dimmer lighting would help? Either way, great date option or bringing family when they are in town for special occasion. read more

Exceptionally good. Tuna tartare sublime. Seafood hot pot insanely good. Molten chocolate cake with coconut ice cream and cashew brittle divine. Great wine list. Servers trying extremely hard. They were slammed, new, but couldn't have been nicer, more personable. So hope this place makes it!. Chapel Hill needs more unpretentious restaurants with fantastic food, good service, interesting menu. I almost didn't want to review because want to keep this place a our secret but it deserves crowds and success. read more

Elements has opened! Chef Michael Chuong, formerly of An, has opened his new restaurant in Chapel Hill. They are already listed on Open Table and getting a reservation was easy on opening night. The menu emphasizes fresh and the staff was open to discussion and recommendations. The smoked scallops smelled wonderful, the beef filet was excellent, and the deconstructed Twix bar intriguing. There are still details being worked out, but we're excited to see what happens. read more

Elements feels more like San Francisco than Chapel Hill. The menu was creative, presentation was elegant, food was fresh and delicious. For starters, I had a "triple tuna" sampler, followed by an entree that was anchored by fried green tomatoes. The platter also contained a quinoa/cranberry salad, black-eyed pea salad, goat cheese balls, and -- I've forgotten the rest. Delicious. The wonderful chocolate molten cake was paired with a scrumptious cocoanut ice cream. My companion had a fabulous shrimp dish. On a cooler evening, the outdoor seating looks inviting. The staff took great care to see that we received personal attention. Assuming that Elements maintains this level of food and service, it cannot fail. read more

I had an excellent experience here late at night after taking in a Tar Heel basketball game. The owner/chef kept his shop open just for our small party. I had a butternut squash soup to start and a sea bass special. The sea bass had arrived that day and was buttery, savory, sweet and delicious. It was excellently prepared with a soy beurre blanc and reminiscent of miso-cod that is popular at some of my favorite Japanese restaurants in NYC (e.g., Momoya). I was not a huge fan of An (from which this chef and sommelier came) but I became an instant fan of Elements. The name is unfortunate but the space is cool and expanding as the restaurant's following grows. I have grown a bit down on dining choices in Chapel Hill of late, but was happy to be brought here by close friends. I look forward to returning. read more

Stopped by late one night and had the chance to enjoy an amazing time seating at the bar with the owner . Elements is a relatively new restaurant on the Chapel Hill scene, having only opened this past August. The owner/chef previously operated AN in Cary, and the family's new venture is a delight. The atmosphere is contemporary with clean, crisp lines but still comfortable and inviting. Highlights in terms of the food included the appetizer ("viet rolls") that were absolutely delicious...and my main dish, a catch-of-the-day pan roasted flounder. Presentation of each dish was striking, adding to our experience, as was attentive service, w/ a staff who were present and engaging without being intrusive. All in all a lovely evening...I look forward to a return trip!! read more

Elements was an exceptional experience! We had seen good reviews, but there were also a few average opt poor ones, and the name is not that inspiring. The restaurant is also tucked away rather low key in a new development. But the food was exquisite. For starters we had sashimi and sushi specials, one a variety of tuna preparations. The best I have ever had outside of Japan. For the main courses, my chicken hot pot curry was so good I only wish it was twice as much (and I am glad it was not). Service was excellent. Our waitperson really knew each dish and each of the well chosen wines. Prices were quitter reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. The ambience became warmer and warmer as the restaurant filled up. I think Elements is one of the best Asian-American fusion restaurants in the Triangle. read more

We came in for sushi because of the great reviews. Turns out they only serve sushi 2 nights a week. Kind of disappointing. The pad Thai was pretty good. Couldn't quite understand the tortilla chips in place of bread etc read more

A group of about 20 of us ate there Thursday night, Feb. 28th. We had a small private room. The service was attentive, polite, professional. For example, my water glass was re-filled about as quickly as it got half-empty, all evening long. That may sound banal, but how many times have I been in restaurants where you almost had to beg for a re-fill.---- The food was beautifully arranged on the plates, no matter what anyone got, really creatively imagined, and, --excuse the potential hyperbole, but kind of little works of art---each plate made me want to photograph it, well, I probably should have and posted them.---The wine, by the glass, was plentiful, that is, a generous glass of wine, not a pitiful little puddle in the bottom of the glass. -----And the chairs! We were at a long table. And listen, this is the first time I've been at tables with fully upholstered, cushioned chairs, with upholstered arms, like a small living room chair in your own house. So comfortable. We ate for more than 2 hours, and never had that achy back/butt kind of effect you often get in even nice wooden chairs over a few hours. Congrats on your comfortable chairs.---Appetizers, amazing. -Desserts, to die for.---All in all, probably one of the better new places to eat in Chapel Hill for a special night out. read more

This place was alright, but has some details that need to be iron out. This experience felt like, from beginning to end, we were always just missing the mark by a little bit. Service was excellent, food was pretty good, but at the price point I dont know if I would go back. Examples of why I feel this way: The Fried Tomatoes and Shrimp dish: Great sauce, shrimp was very good, but the batter on the fried tomatoes (and on the tempura asparagus) was much too heavy and actually greasy. I was surprised at how heavy the grease was in these two dishes, it was noticeable. The tomatoes were a little varied in their done-ness...one seemed undercooked. The wasabi aioli that came with the asparagus was fine, but I have had much better preparations at other places in the triangle as far as aioli goes. The steak was cooked perfectly! It looked nice, and the sauce was great. It came with little cubes of sweet potato, but these were also varied in how cooked they were, one of them being just plain undercooked. The seafood hot pot was good....not a "WOW!" dish but it was good. I'm a udon and hot pot fanatic though, so maybe I've just been too spoiled! The atmosphere is nice, though it does feel a little weird. Its just missing the mark by a little bit, a friend mentioned she felt like it is a conference room. The lighting was maybe just a bit too bright.....strangely enough at one point the lights just plain went out...that really was strange! Then they popped back on again...kind of jarring the experience. Many aspects were very nice, just something seemed a little off. The cocktails were rough around the edges, just not done very well. I struggled with the wine list, I just couldn't find anything on there that I liked that wasn't *really* expensive (but that is a very personal issue, so take that with a grain of salt...I'll be the first to admit I feel like I have no taste in wine). All in all, I am being really critical...but in this area you can get really fantastic food for not that much money, so when I go upscale, I expect to really be wowed. read more
