Do not go here for embroidery. I had called prior to going to the store to see if I could get a simple heart stitched onto a blanket for present, they told me it would be no trouble at all and to come in with the blanket. I brought the blanket in and received absolutely terrible service. The woman who 'helped' me was very rude. She would not listen to what I wanted in any way. She wouldn't even let me pick out the color of the stitching. I felt extremely uncomfortable in the store, so much so that I took my item and left. I did not trust leaving my item with them. I had called and asked if they could do the stitch and they said yes, and then when I came in they acted as if they thought it was a dumb idea (which shouldn't matter cause it's not theirs). I was in the shop the other day picking up a rush job suit, when this horribly rude other customer barged in, and cut in front of other customers that had been waiting. She started getting angry at one of the workers, insulting her, and being genuinely one of the rudest human beings I've seen. She seemed to think she knew how all the alterations were supposed to be, although it was obvious she had no clue. She kept acting unreasonable and demanding. To my surprise, she had left a review on here too, reflecting her childish actions while trying to play herself as the one who was right. Despite her actions, the employees stayed wonderful and happy. Will definitely visit again. read more

I came in a week before my sister's wedding, 7 months pregnant with a disastrous bridesmaid's dress. I'd picked it myself so it was my own fault but it was gapping and pinching and just awful. The seamstress was amazing. I mentioned I could get a bigger size fedexed in so we even had to wait two days later and she did amazing creative work and the dress looked like it was made for me. She never complained or even mentioned that I was so late coming to her and didn't charge for a rush job. I came back on the weekend for a fitting and she came up with a couple of other creative ideas, she also waited until the day before when I got some material in to make straps and a sash for my daughter's flower girl dress and had it all ready to go for me the night before I flew out. The price was perfectly reasonable, even too little for the job done. I've never written a yelp review before. read more

I took two new dresses in for hemming. Picked them up and the job was messy. Their serger machine needed tension adjustment, and they just blew it off. Because I too am a seamstress, I knew what the problem was. I told them the job was sloppy. First the woman said that you couldn't see it bc it was the underside, then said they were so busy but she'd redo if I wanted. I said I would do it myself. The man said, "you're not our customer!" No, I won't be your customer in the future...I'm thinking. He was super rude and raising his voice. I said I wanted to pay them. I didn't want them to think I was voicing dissatisfaction to get the job free. Twice a he said don't pay, so I left their shop. The man followed me out!!! I was scared because I thought he was coming to my car window to confront me. He walked behind and next to my car, and I was prepared to call 911. What a bad experience...this guy has anger issues! read more

After contacting a few places about alterations on my wedding dress I was so discouraged, most said that at 6 weeks out they wouldn't be able to help me and on top of that they were rude and acted annoyed. Then I contacted Elegant Alterations and they were warm and wonderful. My fitting was fast and easy and they made me feel like a beautiful bride, she helped me decide length of the train etc and what undergarments would be best. They estimated 4 weeks for the job and got it done in 3. The hem is beautiful and the alterations are perfect and the price was half of what other places had quoted me. I have had a lot of clothing altered/repaired before, too many items to even count, and never in my life have I encountered such an awful business as Elegant Tailoring and Alterations. I had a $1800 designer coat that needed a repair done on the inside of the left sleeve (reattach part of the liner to the cuff). I brought the coat in and the first quote I received was for $15 (seemed reasonable), when I brought the coat back in the second quote was for $23 (still ok, but annoyed they changed quote after two days) and they assured me it would be an easy and straightforward fix. I waited a little over a week and when I came back in I was HORRIFIED at what they had done. They had pulled the seam from the cuff liner that was undamaged (they said it "looked bad" - it didn't and actually looked way worse after they "fixed it") and had badly stitched it back. On the cuff with the damaged liner seam, they decided to put a very noticeable pleat in the cuff because they deemed the liner "didn't fit right". Remember this was an $1800 coat that I'd purchased new less than a year earlier and was in mint condition. They never got approval for any of these so called fixes, especially touching the sleeve that was not damaged. In my experience, it is 100% unacceptable for a tailor to decide they want to "fix" something that the customer hasn't asked them to do. When I told them the changes were unacceptable, they attempted to take out the pleat and re-do it right in front of me. In the process, they put a hole the liner along the edge and left visible needle marks in the leather. When I expressed my displeasure at the sloppy job, the OWNER started actually screaming at me about not knowing what quality work looked like and to get out of her shop and never come back (which wasn't a problem with me), threw the very expensive and now damaged coat back at me, and then literally slammed the door of the shop in my face. All in all, my $1800 coat is now permanently damaged and I am left with a VERY unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I don't know how they have managed any positive reviews but I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this shop, and have reported them to the Better Business Bureau (which is something I've never done before). read more

I have been losing a dramatic amount of weight since I got engaged, and therefore waited until the last minute (ok maybe a little longer than I should have) to get my dress altered. Last week, with 15-17 days left until I leave for my wedding, I started calling people to see where to go. When everyone else gave me attitude and no sympathy, I called Elegant and the woman there told me to come right in, no appointment necessary. When I told her my timeline and asked her if she could have it done, her response was "It's a wedding dress... I have no choice! Don't worry I'll get it done!", even though I could visibly see that they were very busy. I went in for a final fitting today and it looked PERFECT. Not only is the alteration better than I could have ever imagined, but they are literally the cutest little couple I have ever met and made me feel completely at ease about the entire situation... AND, they really are affordable! They are complete professionals and I will send everyone I know there. read more
