I called and made a walk-in appointment for the same day. Kelly was very pleasant on the phone and accommodated me. I don't get my hair braided often so I showed up unprepared without hair in hand. Luckily, there's a beauty supply across the street and they were kind enough to go purchase the hair for me. The braids were done faster than I expected, tight, without causing me any discomfort, and came out great! My natural hair is thin and hasn't held braids long in the past, but I feel this time is different. Guess I needed to find the right place to go. I searched online reviews for hours to find a decent salon just for a simple wash and press and a trim. I was very picky and researched all of the ratings/reviews for all the black salons in the area and all of the reviews were pretty scary and disappointing. The photos people posted were horrifying and I can't trust everyone with my natural hair. I found this place and the reviews looked pretty good. I called ahead and they told me to come in by 530pm. I was 30 minutes late and they still took me and took their time with my hair. She didn't trim too much and she was gentle when doing my hair. This place was great. So my first and only experience was so nice I thought, why not not make another appointment? Right? Easier said than done. I called to make an appointment with Ericka, the stylist that did my hair after the one I made the appointment with was a no call-no show, and was told she stepped out to call back. I did just that and she wasn't there again ... I was able to make the appointment so I did ... when I called the day of to make sure of my appointment I was told she was not in that day... so why didn't you call me after you insisted on taking my number? I called again a few weeks later because I really wanted to get my hair done... I tried again to make another appointment but again Ericka was not there nor was I offered a different stylist. I was told to make the appointment, they took my number again ... this time the appointment was for that afternoon. But something said to call back. And again was told she was not there with a 'didn't anyone call you?' For added measure. Never have I seen such lazy, poorly managed and such lack of professionalism in a hair salon. It's hard to find a good salon that actually knows what they are doing...with that being said..I walked in without an appointment and Kellee and her crew were FABULOUS..she explained the products and what they do. She has her own shampoo/conditioner line which left my hair feeling like luxurious. I've never had someone ask me if I'm comfortable with a smell before using it on my hair. Ultimate my sister and my hair was done, our hair looked great. After being late for our first appointment, I had two appointments with them one at 9 and the other 10, we were met with a slight attitude but they warmed up as the process went along. I liked that they offered to wash our hair before doing my weave and my sister twist. For my hair the only issue I had is that I felt like the closure could have been concealed a lot more. My sister was doing the passion braids which took a lot longer they started with one person ending with three people doing her hair, kept leaving to do other things( dealing with other customers, phone calls, eat) without communicating as to what was happening. In the end it looked great even though some of the passions twist were done completely different from the rest. Service a 3 but our hair was 4.5. read more

Although Kelly did not do my hair, as the owner she should take responsibility when a customer isn't satisfied with their hair; Erica took the honors of doing my hair. The hair style was simple, 3 braids on the top of my head( in the middle) with a low ponytail. My hair was done, I didn't have on my glasses therefore I couldn't see the finished job. However, since Kelly has done my hair since I was like 4, I trusted that my hair looked good. Upon leaving Erica said my hair was 85.00, plus tax if you use a card. I thought that was kind of steep for a ponytail, but again it's Kelly's spot(there was a sense of loyalty). When I got home.... I noticed that my hair was atrocious!!! The 3 braids looked like my little 9 yr old cousin did it, the sides that were gelled down, started rising and the parts were crooked!!! I couldn't believe my eyes! I immediately texted Kelly along with a picture. To my surprise she NEVER texted me back. I even sent another text in the event that she didn't receive the first one. I come to NY ever so often to visit my folks, and while I'm here I always take advantage of the better hairstylists and prices because I live in California. With that being said, I was surprisingly very pleased with my experience at this salon [Not very common with other salons]. From the braid up, all the way to the install, I had very little complaints. Erica did a very good job with my braid up, she was very gentle, and my braids weren't extremely tight which I really appreciated because I have very fine hair not to mention- I need all the edges I have left lol. My stylist was Kellee [sp] and she did a phenomenol job. My sew-in was done in no time, and I was satisfied with the finished look. The only issues I had were a) I wished that Erica had continued to detangle with wide tooth comb vs a tail comb even though she was very gentle, and b) I wish Kellee had spent a little more time on the styling of my install, but that's pretty much it. I would absolutely recommend this salon, and I'll more than likely be going back the next time I'm in NY. read more

So the first 2 times I went there, my hair was done by Kelly the owner and I loved it, everyone was friendly and professional. 5 out of 5 stars. The third time my appointment was at 10am. I arrived a few minutes late to find the shop still closed. I gave them grace and waited. They didn't show up until 10:30!!!!!! Ok, strike one. Some other lady named Erica did my hair this time and I think she needs to go back to school or something to get her skills up. (If you didn't know already, when you call and your getting a full head sew in, if you have a closure let them know. Because they will not ask depending on who answers the phone) so because I didn't tell her I didn't have a closure, she decides to do leave out. I'm natural and my hair pattern is 4c. I don't understand why she think it would blend with Brazilian hair even after the flat ironed it. anyway I told her that I had a closure so she braided the leave out ontop. Ok, miscommunication. That's fine. Moving on, every time I got my hair done by Kelly she never cuts my tracks. This lady how ever decides to cut my tracks to fit the hairstyle which is almost the same as what I've previously gotten. My only concern is, when I get it done the next time where ever I go, the person doing my hair might have trouble and might run out of hair because the hair was cut to the specific hairstyle before. After cutting up my tracks and sewing it in she asks if I have more hair then finds a track in the draw and adds it to my hair. I feel gross just talking about it but there's nothing that can be done if My braids underneath is visible. Then worse of all, she leaves a section of hair next to my ear unbraided!!!!!!!!! How do you miss that?! Then she asks me do I want it straight or curly. I said straight and I walk out with semi curly hair. All that for 145. These things that happened I didn't realize until after. If you decide to get weave installed ONLY see Kelly. Kelly knows what she's doing. I'm not sure about those other girls. Don't see Erica. I'm not going back. read more
