I wanted to treat my mom to an amazing salon experience, including a haircut, color, and keratin treatment. My friend referred me to Noemi, and I knew I was in good hands after our free consultation. Noemi was super patient in explaining color theory to us, to achieve the exact color my mom wanted. She was also super thorough in explaining the process/benefits of the keratin treatment. Noemi was so sweet and warm during the whole experience. I really appreciated how she took her time, paid attention to the smallest details and clearly took pride in her work. As soon as my mom left the chair, she said she felt like a million bucks. I have never seen her smile so hard! The transformation was amazing. Her hair went from grey, dull, and frizzy, to vibrant, shining and stylish. My dad is constantly complimenting my mom now, and her confidence is through the roof. My sister and I were so impressed we ending up getting our hair done the same day. They took their time examining how my hair grows, and ended up giving me the best fade I've ever had. It also grew in so naturally, so I didn't feel like I needed another haircut after two weeks. My sister got her hair trimmed and curled, and she said her coworkers were all shocked by how good it looked. She was impressed on how the curls lasted well over a week. My family could not be happier, and Noemi now has 3 more lifetime clients. It was worth every penny! The salon itself is gorgeous with beautiful artwork throughout, a modern reception area, and elegant wallpaper. They were so generous in offering delicious coffee with frothed milk, or even a glass of prosecco for free. They massage you for a solid amount of time when you get your hair washed. read more

My teen daughter and I were visiting NYC from California. We happened to walk by Giannillo Salon after eating at Serendipity. We walked in to ask if they could give me a haircut. They were able to accommodate me and Greg (!!) walked out of the back and began my consultation and then he cut and styled my hair. First of all, it was the best haircut I have ever had. It fell perfectly. Greg was so incredibly gracious and kind to me. He treated me ( total suburban mom) just like he would treat one of his celebrity clients. It was an incredible experience. I recently found Giannillo on pulsd and had heard great things about the salon, so decided to try them out. Went in for the Full Highlights, and it was amazing! I absolutely loved everything about the place, from the lady who did my hair to the owner Greg himself. A truly beautiful, cozy, high end salon. This place was a huge disapppintment and a bad choice. Pokey, crampy digs and unprofessional people who just proceeded to change their behavior the moment they knew I bought a Pulsd voucher. I just knew it was going to be a mediocre job from the moment I sat in the chair. I think the woman's name was Liz, but can't be sure now. There was next to no difference in color as a result of a half head of highlights, which I am going to fix only 6 or 7 weeks later. I initially thought I might add on a cut, but was quoted $195, which is completely absurd. I didn't even want her to blow dry my hair, there was no point, I just wanted to go. Today was the second time I've gone to Giannillo and I will never go back again. Previously, I had put up a post about what a wonderful blow dry I had gotten from Edisa, and I stand by that. But some things are just not forgivable. She did give me a great blow-dry when I was there in August and I gave her and the salon a raving review. Today, I want to tell you how disappointed I was, and how unprofessional they behaved. I made an appointment for today, November 19, 2016 for 12:00 noon. I made this appointment two weeks ago!! I go there after my facial at Dorit Baxter across the street. Thank goodness I was in the area anyway, although Giannillo did not know it and this fact adds to the gravity of the problem. I arrived at 11:35 A.M. and said that I knew I was early, if they could take me or if not, I'd gladly come back at 12:00. Edisa immediately came out to tell me that she had me with someone else who wasn't even there yet, who would be arriving at 12:00 to do my hair. I was not pleased and she apologized but stated that she had a pulled shoulder from the previous day and couldn't blow my hair, which by the way, it's short and easy to do! She then said: "well, if you want, I'll try my best and do it." To which I said no because I still had NOT caught on to what was really going on!. I then said it was OK that it wasn't do or die for me and I was about to leave. Edisa then whispered to me: "The last time you walked in and it was $35 but with today's appointment it's really $55 but I told my boss that I couldn't raise you because of the great review you gave me the last time you were here." This did not sit right with me and I started to leave, but before I did I sat for a moment to check my emails. When I glanced up, who do I see? But Edisa with a customer in the chair about to blow that person's hair!!! Because I had this appointment my time was off and I had to wait for my husband to come and get me, he did not anticipate me being that early. Before I left she also said that she "tried calling me but my voicemail was full." I said: "Really?" "That's odd, but thanks for letting me know." IT WAS A LIE!!!! What a LIAR!!! I went to Starbucks around the corner to wait for my husband and asked my son to call me. OF COURSE YOU COULD LEAVE A VOICEMAIL!! WHAT A LIE!! I THEN PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER~~ INSTEAD OF TELLING ME WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT THAT IT WOULD BE $55 I WASN'T TOLD AND SINCE THESE PEOPLE WORK OFF A PERCENTAGE SHE DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE LOSS! THAT'S NUMBER 1! NUMBER 2- IMAGINE IF I HAD COME FROM FAR AWAY AND THEN NOT BE TAKEN CARE OF? THEY DIDN'T KNOW I WAS ACROSS THE STREET!! LASTLY, TO LIE TO A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT. BY THE WAY, WHERE I GET MY HAIR CUT AND BALLYAGE ALL THE TIME, MY BILL OUT THE DOOR IS $700+! DO YOU THINK I REALLY CARED ABOUT $20?? I DON'T THINK SO. I CAME OUT OF STARBUCKS AND WENT BACK TO SPEAK TO THE OWNER WHO TOLD ME HE WAS BUSY AND I HAD TO WAIT. AT THAT POINT I FELT I HAD WASTED ENOUGH TIME AND I TOLD HIM TO READ IT ON YELP!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE AND TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE! NEVER AGAIN. TOO BAD I HAD TO GIVE THEM ONE STAR, BECAUSE BASED ON TODAY'S BEHAVIOR THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE THAT. As a latina its hard to find a good latina hairstylist on a high end salon. She is charming and very professional. I will def come back. I recommend it 100%! I was in need of a new stylist, and bc I hate spending a lot unless I know it's going to be great, I purchased a coupon on GiltCity for a cut/blowout with Judith. The salon itself is really beautiful. My biggest gripe is that I rushed over for my 5:15 appointment, leaving work early, to be kept waiting for 30 minutes. A phone call letting me know they were running behind would have been really appreciated. That being said, Judith was very nice and professional. She actually took her time and was interested in giving me a cut that would work for my type of hair and lifestyle. Instead of just doing what I originally asked, she really consulted with me about it and suggested a slight variation in order to better work with my natural hair texture. The end result was a very simple haircut that feels and looks awesome. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and liked Judith a lot. I think I've found my new stylist. read more

Judith is a nice person with a great spirit -- and I hear that she's an excellent colorist -- but the simple haircut that she suggested and I agreed to did not at all complement my face. In fact, it's growing out all kinds of wrong now... which shows it was a bad cut to begin with. I visited with an online discount voucher, hoping that it would've been a worthy enough experience for me to come back and pay full price next time. But, that was my first and last visit. I appreciate Judith's professional demeanor and think it's great that she gets cool gigs, but the cut she gave me was less than disappointing. I've gotten cuts elsewhere, whether my hair was layered or cut straight-even, that cost me much less and grew out beautifully. I'll have to go elsewhere, but I hope Judith works on her cutting skills if she's going to charge $150+ . read more
