I'm a Phoenix local and have been to shops all over the valley but have exclusively been coming here for the past 3 years. The shop is bad ass and the vibes are always great. There's no shortage of entertainment- they usually have a classic movie or some good tunes playing but the conversations and adult humored jokes are always the best part. You can't leave this place without getting in a few laughs over some ridiculously funny stories or jokes they have an endless supply of. I've been cut by everyone and they are all great. James is my go to guy. He's a fuckin boss at what he does and he always keeps my hair and beard on point. Today I asked him to go with a new style cut and he talked to me about how it would turn out and a variation that might work better for my hair style. He laid out the facts, let me decide, and went to work. When I saw it in the mirror I was super happy. Turned out better than I expected. These guys (and girls) can be straight to the point and brash. At the same time they are all super respectful and kind as long as you don't complain and act like a whiny little bitch like this Rosland character. I walked in on a Saturday morning not having a haircut in over 4 months without an appointment. They guys were able to fit me immediately. My barber, who I think is maybe one of the owners, listened to what I wanted. He repeated it back to me. He then actually Cut my hair the way I asked for! A skin fade with 2/3's off the top and no part!! I've been to every barber in town and no one listens anymore, they just do whatever they want. Not my barber! He actually listened to me!! The most amazing people! My tire blew up and after changing it I needed somewhere to wash my hands. They let me use their restroom and even got me a towel for my knees and dress. As a queer woman, I sometimes feel like an intruder at the barber shop, but George made me feel right at home. I recently shaved my hair and now I'm growing it back out. I'm at an awkward phase and after telling all of that to him, George knew exactly how to cut it to look nice without taking off too much length. It is located at what I affectionately call the Golden Corner. McClintock and Southern has so many hidden and not so hidden gems. I have had my hair cut here twice, but there won't be a third. The first time was so-so, a little too short on the sides, not short enough on top. Technically it was a "good hair cut" just not a great haircut. The price is reasonable, wait times aren't bad and it is close to my house so I made a second appointment. My second trip was pretty bad all around. I had an appointment, which is supposed to be for 40 minutes of "service." My barber was running 20 minutes late, which was not a big deal, but he tells the person who was waiting on him that he'd just be 20-25 minute. So his delay eats into my time, which is bad practice. My hair is not easy to cut, but I think my instructions are clear: a number four guard fade, blending low on the side and leaving a fender, taking an inch off the top and keeping the side burns long. In his rush job, he cuts the side as a two guard, cut up to the part , which means no fender. Then he brings the sideburns to the top of my ear. The top is oddly long along the part, by too short along the on the other side. So not what I asked for and not well executed either. Also, I'm not a fan of the vibe. If you like tattoos, gangsta rap and smoking weed, this could be your jam, but to me it just feels trashy. I cannot recommend and will not be going back. read more

Pass on this barber shop.... Staff is rude and only good barber there was Susie unfortunately she no longer cuts there. I been going here for over a year. The last straw for me was I recently had an haircut scheduled and I forgot to call in and reschedule, as I spent the night in the E.R. And calling the barber wasn't the first thing on my mind after being in the hospital. I received a call from them saying I missed my Appointment and the jerk on the phone explained I would have to pay double for my next haircut... which is understandable as I WAS a no call-no show due to the circumstances . However the tone he gave and the way he said it was very rude & now how you speak to customers and they just lost a customer because of it. I first started coming here years ago since it was super close to my house. I keep coming back, not only for the haircut that is always perfect, but for the hospitality and great laughs. There is always something interesting on tv or being discusses amongst the shop. All are welcome to participate in the conversation or just sit and laugh. Nothing is ever rushed and it's always a great experience. The whole staff is great, regardless if you are their client or not. I walked in an hour before they closed, acting like a total Karen wanting them to cut 10 inches off my kid's hair with no appointment. Being an Arizona transplant I had some difficulties finding a barbershop. I'm a flight attendant and my schedule is up and down so the fact that you can book online or simply call is legit af. Being LGBTQ+ and finding a legit barbershop vs a salon was always something a dread, I didn't feel comfortable and felt I made others uncomfortable just because the atmosphere is typically very "masculine", but this place legit makes me look forward to my next app. Chill guys doing great work at reasonable rates just boosts ones confidence. 10/10 (and if I can't get in with my usual barbers Austin or George I can literally sit at any chair and get a great haircut so again, talented dudes). read more

Sat in the barber chair with two barbers talking about their views on abortion and never addressed or said 1 word to the customer for over 5 minutes. My barber then started to cut my hair without asking what I wanted to do or how I like my haircut. This was my first and last time I'll go here. I stopped the barber and said do you know what you're doing? He said, I'm a barber I know what I'm doing. I said I know but you haven't asked me how I want my haircut. He then said I know what I'm doing. At this point I said, I'm okay I'll take my business elsewhere please take the chair cloth off. The other barber asked what went wrong, the only shred of customer service I received, before I could explain why I was going to leave, the other barber said " I don't care of he leaves". Seemed understaffed: waited longer than was told would have to. Perhaps because of this, the person that cut my hair seemed to be impatient with me. While they certainly made an effort to try some things to get my hair the way I wanted, checked-in with me about how I was feeling about the look, and gave me advice about what we should and shouldn't do, I could tell they wanted to be finished with me. I wasn't rude or anything and the cut wasn't taking that long. I may have come-off as naive, having never tried the particular haircut I was going for, but I wish I had a little more support. I think they offered to try to use clay, in a way to help try something so that I might feel better about the cut. They seemed to forget to use the clay, so I reminded them. After I asked them to try combing my hair the opposite way, they finished and immediately said, "Okay, man. Well..," as if to end our time. When we shook hands, we shared a certain lack of facial expression and they let go of the hand shake as if in a way to throw my hand downward, which did not feel very respectful. I don't like my cut, but that's mostly my own fault for asking for what I did, or at least I feel that way. Update #1: Received 'compliment' and funny vote, from Ricky G., of whom wrote, "I appreciated your sincerity. Yes you should have known more about the cut you were asking your barber because...we deal with customers who like pictures of models daily and we usually suggest more traditional style as to our professional knowledge." This barber shop was the only place I would go for hair cuts for years. In the last 6 months, it has completely changed. They require you to make an appointment to go to a traditional shop? Also, all of the good barbers were either fired or quit because of how things are run now. Because of this, they have hired horrible barbers. I will never ever go in here to get my hair cut again. I now go to Brigade Barbershop. It is a super traditional shop with exceptional barbers. I would recommend this shop to everyone. A lot has changed in 2 years... Ownership/Location/Staff/Policy/Vibe/Quality It's still better than a sport cuts, great clips or any of those other chains, but not by much. It's simple: What makes a great barber shop are great barbers. The good ones have all moved on, and I've moved with them. It's their own place and you can tell by the quality and atmosphere. I'd been here multiple times in the past -- when my regular stylist wasn't available at another shop. All of the guys are good. Now I've changed to exclusively going here. Justin is awesome. Nice guy, pretty quiet, does a great job with my cut every time. Not sure what's up with some of these 1-star haters. I've never seen anything illegal, never been offended by the barbershop chat (and I'm a woman) and I've never felt disrespected. The guys are great and hilarious. Some people are just sensitive. I'll just keep it simple: If you want a good haircut, with an old skool vibe (a la kustom culture, rockabilly, or nostalgia) - this is your place. If you want a basic haircut from experienced barbers with no frills - this is your place. If you want a beer while you wait - this is your place. If you want a mediocre "factory" hair cut, done by a talkative, petite lady that won't shut up about her kids, and keeps laughing and gossiping with the 15 other hens in the shop - This is NOT your place. The barbers aren't the most talkative? Big deal. They cut your hair and do a damn fine job. The more often you go in, the better the hair cut gets. You have to wait sometimes? I see that as a good thing, even if it can be frustrating. It means a quality local business is doing good, and they're likely to be around the next time you need your ears lowered. The staff is always down, the beer is always cold, and the haircuts can't be beat. Only place I know that includes a straight razor and hot shaving cream w/every haircut, and as long as you're clear as to what you want, you'll get it. I only got a $13 tattoo on $13 dollar tattoo day, but my understanding is that the work done here is well done. Their pomade is a bit expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for. 3 stars since I didn't actually get a haircut here. My review is based on the customer service NOT provided during the 40-min wait for a haircut here. Stopped by on a random Wednesday afternoon-- how busy could it be? 2 people waiting in front of me, 2 barbers. Not bad, right? First, of all, I was never greeted. The guys who worked here would look, but then go back to buzzing hair. Guess I don't exactly fit the customer base description (no tattoos no piercing) but still, can you make me feel like a customer? Where it really got me was that one of the barbers decided to take a cigarette break after his customer #1. Cool and I have no problem with that. Then he came back in with some "regular" customer who proceeded to get a haircut immediately before me. WTF? I sort of watched it happen in disbelief before deciding to peace out. If this place is not your scene, I'd recommend saving yourself the time and trouble and going elsewhere. read more

Why haven't you been here yet....no really ask yourself....why? Hands down the best haircut Ive got in years.....and as I continue going it keeps getting better.....and better. Issac is good news, Kolby is good news.....masters of their craft in every way. They should be charging double for the prestige and quality of their haircuts, and honestly I would probably pay it. However Electric Haven is not just for haircuts.... Where they really shine is the quality of Tattooers. Adam needs no introduction from his time spent at No Regrets however IMHO although an awesome artist is not my first pick. KC Lange is my go to guy.....after having him put several pieces on me I am 150% stoked to reccomend him to all of my friends, and continue to do so daily. His work is fresh, clean, awesome color, and a huge range of styles that hes comfortable in makes him an excellent choice for a first tattoo, or to add to a growing collection. I wish I had four thumbs so I could give him Four Thumbs up...... Travis is another excellent tattooer. I'm snagging my first piece by him this week, and am positive I wont be dissapointed (given his awesome demeanor, and killer portfolio).... I have given this shop a fair shot. I had my favorite barber on the other side of town who is impossible to get to now because of my work hours and distance, so I needed to find a new go to. My first cut at Electric Haven was good (was given by the guy who wears the Yankees hat but he's not in much), so I decided to give it a few more tries. The next 2 cuts I got were by two different barbers, and were satisfactory. Today though, I saw a barber named Justin, and it is hands down the worst cut I have ever gotten. The guy has no idea what he's doing with a comb, a pair of clippers, or a straight razor. So the questions that begs to be asked is: what the hell is he doing behind a barber's chair?! I'm going to have to find someone to try and fix the cut I got today, or buzz it all off. I thought about going back in as soon as I got to my car and looked at the mess, but I honestly didn't want the guy touching my head again. Total waste of time and money. If you have to go out of your way not to go here, do so for sure. read more

To men who are still paying $15-$25 for styles at super cuts, or other "chain" style shops/salons, wake up. Women are standing behind you at the gas station, gym and post office wondering what happened to the area you can't see in the back of your head? Got thinning hair? Growing it longer in the back only illuminates the thin areas; get it tapered up properly in the back and the balance looks fuller. Go to a real barber and get a cut flattering to shape of your skull; think light bulb instead of super cut "helmet". As mentioned in other reviews, finding a good barber can be a challenge without looking like a hair experiment afterward. Same as locating an expert tailor that makes you look good in clothes. First visit here today, walked in and met Almon, friend of Adam the owner and "on-loan" here, until returning to Austin at end of month. Ironically, Almon has exact same haircut as mine--straight brown hair, slicked back. He had a clean looking haircut himself, with tight taper. Asked who here cut his? He does so mostly himself. Hopped in the chair for an excellent cut with tight taper. Straight razor finish, hot towel and and dab of pomade on top to finish it off. Have to agree with Brandon as well, you're walking out ready to show. Did I mention Miller High Life beer on tap at the shop? What are you waiting for...
