My wife and I had an amazing experience working with Elan while purchasing our first home. From the very beginning, he was knowledgeable, patient, and always available to answer our questions and guide us through every step of the process. Buying a first home can feel overwhelming, but Elan made everything simple and stress-free. He took the time to understand what we were looking for, explained every detail clearly, and always had our best interests in mind. Thanks to his professionalism, dedication, and expertise, we were able to find the perfect home for our family. We truly appreciate all of his hard work and support throughout this journey. If you're looking for a trustworthy, responsive, and experienced realtor, we highly recommend Elan. We couldn't have asked for a better person to help us achieve this milestone. read more

Elan was great to work with. He is very knowledgeable, collaborative and skillful at navigating the nuances of Bay Area residential real estate. I think he is a great fit for both experienced and first time buyers. read more

Working with Elan has been phenomenal! Elan was recommended to us by a friend in Alameda. We were buying a home in Alameda while living in Philadelphia, and he made a stressful cross-country journey feel manageable. He is highly knowledgeable about the Alameda market (and helped us secure a great spot in East End), but he is also incredibly easy to work with. He listened to our constraints and goals, and went above and beyond to keep us plugged in to a fast moving Alameda market. He's highly trustworthy and I always felt he was interested in the best outcome for us. read more

A couple of years ago Elan helped my parents find their home, and this year he helped me find mine! The thing my husband and I valued most throughout this process was working with people we could trust. Elan is the kind of realtor who will truly be on your side. We were looking for a home outside of the county he typically works in, and through his connections he found us an off-market house that exceeded our expectations. He always responded quickly and made the negotiation process much easier than I thought it would be. We didn't need to tour many homes, and the only offer we made was accepted. Of course, that's not always guaranteed, but Elan's precision in searching for the right home while balancing our budget and the seller's expectations was incredible. This is the kind of person you want by your side when purchasing a home. read more

I had a fantastic experience working with Elan to buy my home. After making a decision to downsize and selling a home of 15 years I was anxious to find a new place to call home. From the very beginning, he was incredibly flexible as I changed direction multiple times--shifting focus between different neighborhoods and types of properties. What really impressed me was his willingness to step outside his usual selling area without hesitation, just to make sure I had every option available. At one point, I came very close to buying a property, and he worked hard to negotiate a solid deal with the seller's agent. Even though I ended up not moving forward with that home for unrelated reasons, I was impressed by his dedication and persistence he showed throughout the process. He was always responsive, patient, and never made me feel pressured. Instead, he stayed focused on helping me find the right home, not just closing a deal. I highly recommend Elan to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and dependable real estate agent who strives to makes a personal connection and to really understand your needs. read more

Elan has been AMAZINGLY knowledgeable for first time home buyers. He is patient and knows the market well, as well as a local to the area we were looking in (Alameda). He is very responsive and will do his best to get competitive offers. read more

The last entry was I gave Elan, a total stranger the opportunity to make a commission on a 1 million dollar cash sale, Elan asked me if I like Fidelity for a home warranty. Fidelity is probably the best home warranty company in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a very nice gift, and fair compensation for what I did for him. I do not know Elan on a personal level, As far a a business relationship is concerned, I have to give him a 5 star rating. I would use him again on my next real estate purchase, or to sell property. He is very professional. Col. Maurice M. Manown USMC read more

Elan is a wonderful real estate agent with a deep knowledge of and love for Alameda and the surrounding area. He's a delight to work with- clearly an expert in the home buying process. He has strong relationships with many agents across the Bay Area, which gave us valuable insights in a challenging market. In addition to his patience, we appreciated his empathy towards our family's needs. read more

It was great working with Elan. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and was such a great help walking me through a process that is quite unfamiliar (first time buyer here). He got me my dream home for a price I thought for sure wouldn't be enough - thank you so much! read more

For first time home buyers we really had no idea what to expect and at the beginning it was all overwhelming. When neighbors of ours recommended Elan we jumped at the opportunity to have a local help us. Elan made the process so much more manageable, even dare I say fun. His knowledge of Alameda is amazing and we feel so lucky to have found him. Just when we thought we wouldn't find anything he found a great house that fit our wants and needs! Elan Chertock - Compass - Our new house! Thanks Elan! - Real Estate Agents Near Me - Alameda, California

I met Elan by chance years ago, when the house next door to a friend's was up for sale. There was Elan, who gave me an instant crash course in first time home buying. It turned out that we had friends in common, and over the course of the next 6 years, he showed me properties, kindly helped my partner solve a problem with his mortgage, and was always there when I had a question as I was learning the ins and outs of buying some day. When the conditions suddenly came together to be able to buy my first home, Elan was right there, and did a fantastic job. I have been continually impressed with how connected, skilled, and great he has been to work with. I highly recommend! read more

Elan deserves the full five star rating across the board! If you are hoping to find a kind and responsive realtor who has your best interest in mind, absolutely reach out to Elan. He made my experience buying a home during coronavirus a breeze. I expressed interest through Zillow, and Elan reached out saying he'd be happy to help me! The journey with him has been amazing. He showed me 5 separate condos even through the pandemic and made me feel safe and heard. I always felt super annoying asked him to show me new places and he said it was never a problem. He is so patient and respectful! Once it came around to bid and put in an offer, he helped me understand as it was my first time buying, and made the process a breeze. Next time I buy a property, I will be going to him again. He was the most helpful person I could have asked for during this process and made me feel free of stress. Thank you so much Elan!!! read more

This may sound a little unbelievable but Elan made the entire process enjoyable - from the first meeting in his office right up to when he was handing us the keys to our new house. Elan immediately made us feel comfortable - he formulated a game plan based on our wants and resources, and over the course of the journey, always explained complex strategies in terms that everyone on the team (my family) could understand. His experience, knowledge and passion for real estate always made my family feel like we had an all star player who was our secret weapon - no agent is ever going to out research, out negotiate, or be more dedicated than Elan. Ultimately, the universe decides when you get your dream house. However, Elan seems to have the uncanny ability to expedite the process and make the intimidating journey of buying a house, feel more like an exciting adventure. read more

Elan is a master at working with you in all ways to find the home that's right for you. His honesty and integrity are refreshing and his knowledge is invaluable. We had a very difficult situation with time constraints and Covid requirements but he always looked out for us and worked hard to meet our needs in every way guiding us to what we wanted and not what he thought we wanted. Elan is a very attentive and service oriented Realtor. He is professional, communicates well, and provides top notch representation. His deal making ability and market insight helped us to identify and secure a property in a tough price range with multiple bids. Elan talked me into a five minute coffee meet-up after I'd impulsively pinged him via Zillow about a random house on my block. When we met, I told him I'd be his "worst client" because I had such specific requirements for what I was looking for (a garage, a yard, storage, big but not too big, on Alameda Island, no condos etc. etc.), and a set budget that I thought would be impossible. I asked him just to keep his eyes open just in case he came across something that might work. 30 days later Elan reached out to me about a good fit for all my requirements, and at the right price if I moved fast. I made my offer two days later and Elan was there, responsive to all my queries, guiding me through the process. Now I own my first home, on my terms, and at my price. Elan totally made it happen for me, and I really appreciate all the work that he's done. read more

I highly recommend Elan as a realtor, he sold my "challenging to sell" house .He is knowledgeable, efficient, knows the market and get the job done quickly and smoothly. I could not be happier with the result. His pleasant personality will make anybody grateful to work with him. read more

Elan has helped me both buy a home (2010) and sell a home (2014). He is super responsive and candid and full of excellent advice. Especially as a buyer's agent, you cannot find a more straightforward and honest agent, and you can be certain that he will fight for you to get the best price and the best features for your home. He fought hard to get the sewer lateral repair included in our home purchase, before it was required by the county. He knows neighborhoods well, is open minded, creative, and a calming voice in what can be a pretty emotional experience (buying or selling!) read more

Elan was our landlord first (awesome) and then our real estate agent, also awesome. He is kind, attentive, honest, responsive and also just a really cool dude. He gave us good guidance, and we got the house for asking! Highly recommend. read more

Elan has an easy going manner and a trustworthiness that's apparent from the moment you meet him. Although we bought our house from Elan in Alameda rather very quickly given how long these things sometimes take, it was a house on the Gold Coast that no one else really knew was even for sale. Elan showed it to us before anyone else had had a chance to look at it and we made the bid, and are happily living here now. If you want to work with an agent who knows Alameda intimately well and is fun and honest and relaxed, but diligent, you can't do much better than Elan Chertock! read more

Elan helped us buy our first home, a daunting experience that he made relatively easy for us. As first-time home buyers, we entered the real estate market with zero knowledge of how things worked and a long list of requirements and amenities. Somehow, we managed to find the perfect home for us in our ideal location, and Elan expertly helped us through the buying process. Granted, it took a solid eight months of looking at all kinds of houses, and Elan was with us every step of the way. The Bay Area real estate market is intense to say the least - there's so much competition, bids that are $100k over asking price, the list goes on... We really appreciated Elan's patience and non-pushy attitude with us as we took our time putting in multiple offers and waiting for the right house. Once our offer had been accepted, Elan also helped us secure a loan, deal with the inspection and negotiate with the sellers (which ended up being very much in our favor). To top it all off, because Elan works independently as his own broker, he splits his commission with his clients which ends going directly as a credit towards your down payment. For us, this credit was close to $10k, not exactly chump change when you're pulling all your resources together for a down payment. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Elan - he's super personable, friendly and honest. We look forward to working with him on future home sales and purchases. read more

As first time home buyers we really appreciated Elan's expertise in helping us select a home in Berkeley. We would look up houses online and then email him the addresses of the ones we liked. He would investigate them promptly and get back to us with additional information about the property. When we looked at houses he would always mention the positives and negatives of each house. His focus was to always find us a good house within our budget, and he did. The loan officer he referred us to was also very prompt and helpful. In a time when many relators are just trying to make a buck off a sale, its refreshing to meet someone with such high integrity and insight into the local market. I would highly recommend Elan to any of my friends who were interested in buying a home. read more

Elan was a pleasure to work with. He was focused, responsive, and has an extensive understanding of the local market. He also has a solid network of stagers, painters, carpet installers, plumbers, cleaners, window washers and other contracting services. If we had another house to sell, we would definitely work with Elan again, and we highly recommend him to others seeking to buy or sell a home. read more

I can't recommend Elan highly enough. We were first-time buyers, seeking a multigenerational home within a specific budget, within a time crunch-- and purchasing jointly with my mother, who was out of state through the entire process. Not an easy task, to say the least! But start to finish, Elan  took our needs, wishes, and constraints in stride and made us feel as though our search was his top priority. He was thorough, communicative, patient, and optimistic-- eminently professional, but also down-to-earth, genuinely friendly, and a real pleasure to work with. Elan always made us feel he was tenaciously looking out for our best interests, and, here we are! A couple weeks ago we closed on our beautiful new home, and we couldn't be more grateful. read more

Elan and I had a mutual client a few years ago; we built a lot of respect for each other during that purchase and have continued to work with each other over the years. I highly recommend working with Elan, he's very responsive, educates his clients, and never gives up looking for the right house for his clients (even when it means going the extra step). He brings a real sense of customer service to his business. read more

My wife and I just bought our home in Alameda, and this would not have happened without Elan. Elan was tremendously helpful in showing us multiple houses, he was always on call & responsive, and did an excellent job in explaining and walking us through the process. In particular, he got to know us as a couple, what we're looking for and what we're prioritizing; This made the entire process effective and ultimately very successful. We feel very fortunate to have worked with Elan, and recommend him without any reservations. read more

We just bought our first home with Elan and he was the best agent we could hope for! My wife and I started working with Elan nearly two years ago, and a couple months ago closed on our dream home in Alameda, which we purchased off-market. He put in the time before we were in a position to buy to help us understand the market and get a feel for the neighborhoods. He's a resident of Alameda, was always available, and knows it in detail. He has a naturally calm presence, is an honest broker, and genuinely stand up guy. We give him our top recommendation. read more

Elan made buying a home fun and informative. He was able to explain many of the intricacies of the real estate market in English. Additionally, he was low pressure. We were never pressured to buy and he always made time to bring us back to look at places several times. Elan was laid back, but totally on top of all the issues once we began negotiations and fought hard for us. We felt he was totally on our side in purchasing the home and always represented our interests. Then, on top of all that he gives you half of the commission! A real find in an otherwise annoying real estate agent market. He was a pleasure to work with and hopefully will be coming to the housewarming party! We cannot say enough nice things about him. read more

We are closing today on our first home purchase and had a great experience working with Elan. He helped us newbies navigate the process with ease. He was responsive to all our many questions and provided helpful information and guidance at every decision-making point. He was especially knowledgeable about the area of our purchase and had great contacts for lenders, inspectors, insurance options, etc. I was honestly never sure if buying a home would be a reality for us in this crazy Bay Area market and I'm so thrilled this day is here. Major thanks to Elan for his help making it happen! read more

We sold our house in 2016 with the help of Elan. It only took exactly 35 days from listing the house to closing escrow...impressive. Elan helped my wife and I buy our first home and also helped us get our pre-approval letter from a lender to include with all of our numerous offers. My wife and I were totally new to the real estate market (read: clueless) and we met Elan when we happened to walk by an open house that he was putting on. We immediately liked him and the next day we were in his office for what he calls "real estate 101" where he explained the whole process to us. He was very professional, attentive, honest and extremely helpful with us during the house hunting process. We would send him links to houses we would see on sale and he would reply back with his opinions on the house (after reviewing the specs and comps) and would set up a tour if we decided to go forward. Even though we were outbid multiple times he was very patient with us and continued to provide excellent service. Even when we persisted in putting an offer on a house we knew we wouldn't win. We did eventually get lucky and found a great house at a great price after only 4 months of searching. My wife and I would definitely recommend Elan to anyone who is looking to buy or sell a house. We know for sure that when we're ready to move we'll be looking to Elan to help us with that process again. read more

We highly recommend working with Elan. We met him casually at an open house he had -as we were barely staring our buying process- and he offered to go over the process with us. He spent a good hour and a half with us, no strings attached. We were very happy with his expertise and knowledge of the market, the region. We were very pleased with his patience and clarity as he explained things multiple times at our request. He answered all of our questions and put them in context of the market trends. It was very easy to work with Elan, he was super flexible, and accommodating to our schedule. His communication was excellent! Responding to texts or email very promptly. I Particularly appreciated that he never pushed us to do anything we were not comfortable with, allowing us to reach our own conclusion about offer prices. After a few offers, we found a great place and Elan was very skillful in communicating with the seller's agent, and strategizing a successful offer. Lastly, Elan has a super relaxed and warm personality - which made the whole process go very smoothly for us, and generally very pleasant. If we ever buy again, we would totally go with him again.
