The food here is great. My favorites are the torta ahogada and the tortas. The food portions are really good, and service is quick even when it's lunch time. Small dining room with about 4-5 tables but really friendly people. Owners are great and welcoming, helpful when unsure of what to order or curious on certain menu items.

Small but gets the job done!

Where have I been? Lol this place is so close to me and just realized it's here. I had their taquitos plate. It was good. I would grab it again. The ambiance is hole in the wall if you like that vibe (I do). They were fast and gave three types of salsas for the platter. They were also friendly and no nonsense. I'm Viking back to try their sopas soon!

Food is much better then expected. Will definitely come back. Customer service is excellent and friendly. Prices are average but well worth it. Small dinning area but cozy. Place looks clean.

Yummy barbacoa tacos! I Love the agua de jamaica here too. It's not too sweet. The torta de asada is flavorful and big.

Ole reliable for after school munchies and post gym fuel…read more I've gone here a few times with friends and myself. Service is standard and generally good, so I don't have much to comment on. My favorites here are their chorizo breakfast burrito for brunch and asada tacos. Their medium salsa is one of my favorites with a good amount of heat that won't kill me. Their horchata is heavier on the cinnamon side, so mix it up reeeal good and you'll have a good time. Thanks Spanglish for the yummy eats :)

Uh, what pico de gallo??? I did not get ANY bro. If I got it on the side, why would I complain…read moreabout it then. Let me emphasize... i got NADA. I don't know where you packed the pico de gallo at but it wasn't in my take out bag. Also, your boy did not explain anything AT ALL.. he literally said "sure we can do that for you" and did not do that. And didn't even let me know that I'll get double rice. You say that you make your food fresh but not only was my taco dry but it was not warm.. nor was the steak. So either it's not fresh or it was just sitting for a long time. And we live pretty close by so it's not bc we didn't eat it within a certain amount of time. Do not try to make this blame on the customer, please. This isn't just me being bitter. This is me being honest. If you can't handle a few criticism, you shouldn't be in f&b industry. ---- I had high hopes for this place, but man.... they disappointed me REAL bad... We ordered the steak & eggs, asado enchiladas, and 1 al pastor taco. Came out to around $35.. For the enchiladas, I asked for no beans and asked if I can substitute for Pico de gallo. The guy said sure we can do that. But on the receipt, it said double rice which i thought was weird but I wanted to trust that they will give me what I asked. NOPE. It was double rice. I should have went with my instinct and called them out on it. If you can't substitute for pico de gallo, then just tell me the truth. Don't lie about it... like wtf? I will say, the asado enchiladas weren't too bad. But then we see the steak & eggs. Whatever you do, do NOT order that here. They only give you 6 thin pieces of steak and charge you $16. They also don't give you any utensils. As for the al pastor taco, the guy had asked if I wanted any sauce. I asked him if it already comes with it and he said yes. There was NO sauce whatsoever.. i don't know if the guy meant there was sauce for the enchiladas but why would he mean that while I was ordering the taco? And as for the al pastor, SUPER dry.... Idk why it also took like 20min for them to make the food... not even that much food. My bf and i are still hungry.. Gave this place a chance and sorry to say, but won't be coming back. Street taco spots are the way to go!

There's both a drive-through (may be a bit confusing for first-timers) as well as outdoor picnic-style tables (maybe 6-8 or so?) if you'd like to enjoy the sights and sounds of Alhambra while you dine al fresco. They offer combo plates, a la carte all for a great price. Service has always been pleasant and friendly. They sure do hustle inside...it might be a few minutes until you get your order...but patience is key, it'll be worth the wait! I usually opt for their taco salad (chicken)...it will keep me full for awhile and then some. Yay for Pepe's Alhambra. There's also a Temple City location about 20 mins away, depending on traffic.

My small chili cheese fries had only 24 fries, and our large carne asada nachos had a lot of empty space in the container. I ordered a rose pinot wine from the "Whites" section and apparently they did not have that wine so instead of letting me know he brought a pinot noir. It was impossible to get our server's attention so that I could ask about why I was brought that wine and to order a sauvignon blanc which was finally served just before our food arrived. Our meal was tasty and we enjoyed it. However, trying to get the bill to pay was another long wait. I was not happy with the service and so I gave the server a 15% tip. I received my bank statement yesterday and the restaurant added an additional $4 without my approval. For me service is an important part of dining and because it was mediocre I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

Respect to the beauty of the So Cal neighborhood Mexican restaurant…read more I'm in the area a lot, but usually for Chinese / Vietnamese food. This time, it was a little after rush hour and I had 25 minutes to kill before an event down the block. I also had a mean hunger. It was hot, the event was a performance in a space without AC, and the idea of being hungry and hot was sort of daunting. So Chonitos it was. I asked the host if the kitchen moves quickly, because I needed to be somwhere. He said 'no problem' and seated me. Now I need to acknowledge that my request could be interpreted as annoying. I mean, me being short on time is not the restaurant's issue. But Chonitos was open to the task at hand. The space has a dark sports bar vibe. Plenty of folks enjoying their Thursday evening, drinking, eating and watching the screens. My server was Saul. He had a drink in my hand in less than three minutes and took my order the moment I was ready. Saul was very cool about getting me fed quickly. The food came out in less than 8 minutes, a taco enchilada combo. Just what I needed, homemade for sure, and both satisfying and comforting. A little corn cake rounded out the experience. I wolfed it down, thanked Saul for being supportive, then paid the check, and arrived early at my next stop. Chonitos is dope. Recommended. Good food, unpretentious vibes, and a neighborhood energy that is hard to find these days. Thank you so much.

Date of visit: May 10, 2026…read more Selections: Enchiladas de Mole Experience: We had called on Saturday, aka the day before Mother's Day, to see if we could make a reservation, but were told to show up early and we will be seated regardless if our whole party was fully there. We were going to be there a bit before 11:00AM originally on Sunday since their website said 11:00AM, but Yelp said 10:00AM was when they opened. So my husband called on Sunday to check and they did indeed opened at 10:00AM. When we got there, there were already three sets of groups seated and they had to rearrange some tables for us since our party was nine people, which only took a couple of minutes to arrange. We were served complimentary chips and salsa as well as water as we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. I had quickly chosen my dish cause I'm a sucker for mole and there were only two options that had it, so I ended up getting the enchiladas de mole. The servers were great and the food was as pretty good too. I ended up taking leftovers home since I had eaten too much chips and dip before my actual food came cause the server refilled our chips on our end of the table like four times. The mole was pretty good and I wish there was more of it and didn't really enjoy that there was veggies inside the enchiladas since I think I was expecting more chicken than veggies inside. Not a big fan of beans, but they were pretty good with the melted cheese on top and the rice was good too. I definitely loved the decor they had and the designs painted on the walls because they eee so pretty and provided good photo op backgrounds.
