Oofff... I didn't realize it is a C rating, I pass by this place so frequently and I haven't been here in so long. I used to LOVE THE Corn cake, it's this sweet corn mash thats not really even a cake. We order the grande fiesta platter, and the ignited fajita superme. (We requested non spicy) Also a queso dip for the chips. It was so good we cleaned the plates off almost instantly, the flautas so flaky and crispy. Quesadilla stuffed with cheese. It was so satisfying. The service is a bit slow, not bad but I was getting a little impatient. The inside is the same as always warmly lit, not too bright.

First time at El Torito and I heard good things about the place an food. It was a weekday night so wasn't as busy, we only had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready and we sat at a booth. The place was very well decorated with many statues, facade building structures and decorations as if you are in a very cozy homestyle village. The chips we got were a bit hard but the refills are much better, the salsa was actually really spicy. Unfortunately I am not good with spicy food, most of the food were listed as spicy, however, our server was able to accommodate and put in our order as non-spicy. We ordered the queso dip so I can eat the chips they gave, very delicious when hot! Difficult to eat once cooled so eat it while it's hot. We also got the Grande Fiesta Platter, nonspicy, which meant the wings were plain (still amazing, crispy), flautas were so flaky and crispy, and nachos were good but when the beans solidified it was hard to eat without sticking to my mouth. For mains, we shared the ignited fajitas supremas, it looks like it had the most to offer as a mix of everything. We got flour tortillas and it was good, I think the corn bread was the best, I feel they gave more shrimp than chicken/beef but the portions may be for one person rather than 2. Overall, we ate everything, I enjoyed the food, I really want to try their brunch buffet, I think I would enjoy it more.

We went on 5 de Mayo, early enough before lines got long. We haven't been to an El Torito in years!!! We were skeptical but wanted some tacos. We waited 25 minutes and got seated. We ordered à la carte. The chips were golden and nicely salted. Salsa was nice. Ordered a guacamole. Needed a little salt but overall fresh. The plates of food were really good and so were the drinks. Overall a great experience. The only bad thing was the service. We knew it was busy and our waitress tried her best. We didn't get utensils, never got our queso fundido, when we did we were done with our meal, same with my tortillas for my fajitas. They came when I was done. The place was vibing with it being 5 de mayo and taco Tuesday. It was nice and clean and everyone was super friendly. We'll come back.

Had an incredible Sunday brunch here! The service was 10/10--our server, Maria Trujillo, was extremely attentive, kept our glasses full and our table clean. We will definitely be back! Cheers!!

Just left Sunday brunch at El torito on 3/15 and I don't even know where to start with what a disaster this place is. We made a reservation for 12 guests for my moms 64th birthday about 1 month in advance and requested to be sat outside for a more spacious and less noisy environment as we would have a newborn baby with us + my 90 year old grandmother. As soon as we got there, we were placed at a crammed table INSIDE although we were told originally told we would get the outside space. Upon sitting in the very tight space, we all got up to go serve ourselves at the buffet which did not have any plates available for about 10 minutes and a lot of the main dishes had not been replenished. Guests were squeezing in wherever they could in the buffet as there was 0 structure and no employees watching the buffet to make sure there was some sort of organization. It honestly looked like a bunch of ants fighting for food. My husband and I then got in the taco line while we waited for plates as it was a long wait for tacos anyway. There was 1 lady at the taco station making tortillas which took her a VERY long time to make. This is not her fault-only El Torito's fault for not staffing properly. When it was finally our turn to ask for tacos, she proceeded to give us tortillas and we helped ourselves to serving the meat as we saw other people doing so. The taco lady yanked the serving spoon away from my husbands hand and said it was her job to serve us. We thought that was very rude and uncalled for. We didn't know she was also supposed to serve us as she was SO busy making tortillas. Again, this is El Torito's fault for lacking organization. Aside from this, None of the food was labeled so there was a lot of very confused people just serving themselves. I had random people behind me asking me what the dish was that I was serving myself. Finally, when the mariachi came to sing my mom happy birthday, one of the hosts/servers walked a family of 10 right THROUGH the mariachi which completely ruined the video we were recording for my mom with the mariachi singing to her. This place lacks lots of class, good service, organization, and quality. I remember coming here about 10 years ago when it was a lot different. It's safe to say, we don't plan on coming back here and I don't advise anyone to come here for any special celebrations as management does not care to make your experience a special one. My mom was very disappointed that we had to spend her birthday here. My sister asked to speak to a manager halfway through our meal and we were told a manager would come but they never did. I would appreciate if management reached out to me directly so we could discuss this matter.

Chile Colorado, enchiladas, chilaquiles, chile relleno, seafood Mac and cheese

Sunday brunch is the way to go. Unlimited mimosas and a huge array of buffet options. From omelettes, taco bar, seafood station, soups, salads, desserts, and of course all the main courses like birria, enchiladas, Chile verde, chilaquiles, Chile rellano, and Chile Colorado. There is something for everyone. The service is excellent and there is mariachi that goes around playing music for tips. Price is roughly $45 an adult but it includes everything. Certain types of drinks are an additional charge. They also have happy hour specials that are also worth checking out! Definitely recommend checking it out.

When for wife's office last minute x-mas party.. Service was great.. attentive Food was ok .. not as it used to be.. timing was a little off as a few had to wait for their dishes, as ours got cold.. Ran out of soup.. Well drinks need some attention.. All in all it was ok...

The ambiance here is always a vibe with the music playing. The hostess and servers are very welcoming and friendly! The Cadillac Margarita is a must. Petty much all the food items are delicious!

My wife, daughter, and I returned for dinner within three days after our first-ever visit to this restaurant. We loved the vibe upon entering this restaurant. The decorations, the colors, the aroma of Mexican food in the air, the music playing in the background -- all of this makes this place scream, "fun." Service was good but not great. After taking a phone call for a large reservation, the male hosts walked away without acknowledging my wife and me and never returned. That was strange, my initial reaction was. Waited for an additional four to five minutes before a female employee asked us, "Have you been helped?" To which I replied, "No". This employee escorted us to a large table, handed us menus, and advised us that someone would be right with us. It took a while, but our waitress finally came out to greet us. The extremely friendly waitress took our orders (chicken/shrimp fajitas, Birria tacos, and a well-done cheeseburger combo for our daughter). Now begins the wait time. We waited and waited and waited some more for our food. Our waitress checked on us several times and even came by to offer us fresh, complimentary guacamole simply for enrolling in the restaurant's rewards club. The guacamole was DELICIOUS! The waitress advised us that the long delay was due to our request for a well-done burger. Our food finally arrived thirty-seven minutes after we placed our food orders. A tad longer than we are used to when ordering food, but "oh well" was my attitude. It's time to eat. My fajitas were EXCELLENT!! Very tasty and well prepared. My wife LOVED her tacos; however, my daughter was so-so about her burger. It was definitely on the dry side. A group of four ladies was seated two tables away, and as a result, our waitress was occupied helping this table during our visit We were never offered refills of our beverages and had to ask for them towards the end of our visit. No complaints from me, but worth mentioning nonetheless. Our waitress appeared to be the only employee assisting our little section of the restaurant, which by now had five tables to handle alone. Despite the long wait to be seated and the long wait for our food to be delivered to our table, this was still a positive dining experience.

    STREET TACO TRIO - CARNITAS
    Jerry H.

The El Torito is located conveniently located near the freeway and very close to hotels nearby so they can walk to the restaurant. The restaurant has a great open Mexican theme with great colors. We ordered the carnitas taco trio plate and a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The salad was absolutely delicious with the cilantro lime Caesar dressing. The service was a bit slow for drinks and our dishes came out at different times. However it was delicious and everything taste very good.

    Caesar Salad. Messy plating.

Servers kept walking past our table without checking in and honestly looked kind of lost or wandering around aimlessly. Luckily they keep water pitchers on the tables already filled, which now makes perfect sense considering how long it takes to get service. Smart move on their part. I ordered the avocado toast with a side of bacon, and my husband ordered the chorizo skillet. The coffees and my food came out quickly, but his never did. Instead, we watched an older server walk around the restaurant with his skillet and bacon, stopping at multiple tables asking if it belonged to them. Twice she set it down at other tables before being told it wasn't theirs. The third time, she finally brought it to us. That seems like it should be a health issue, what if someone else had stuck their fingers in it not knowing. By then, my husband didn't even want it anymore because it had already been sitting in front of other people. To their credit, they remade it, but then we waited another 15 minutes for his food while I had already finished eating. We actually watched another couple sitting next to us get so frustrated because their order was completely forgotten. After waiting forever with no food and barely any acknowledgment, they eventually just got up and left. Overall, cute spot and really good coffee, but the service was incredibly disorganized and the food mix-up was a huge turnoff. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

It's a large-ish space, and I guess kind of like a sit-down place (not "turo-turo/cafeteria style like some Filipino joints), with a ton of Filipino snacks on the counter. Plenty of seats that have seen better days. A portion of the restaurant is covered in plastic to house some construction equipment ? I asked for the pork sisig ala carte and decided to add an order of kalderetang kambing and 2c of rice. Big mistake buying more than one entree when you are taking it home and have no clue how their food tastes. I trusted Yelp too much. . Sisig had a 1:1 ratio of meat to bell peppers. I also couldn't help but feel lile the peppers were undercooked, even raw. Maybe that was their style, but I also disliked the mayo on top. Now the kalderetang kambing had a strange fishy (gamey) smell in the car. When I tried it at home, the meat looked so red and tasted way too sweet, not at all like the Kalderetas I'm used to back home. The meat was falling off the bone soft though. This is my problem with Filipino restaurants in the US - if they can't make dishes better tasting than what I make at home (i rarely cook but im a good eater), I cannot rate them high at all. I've eaten too much Filipino food in my life to know what tastes good. I feel bad because the folks who work here/(owners?) are pretty nice and they were working on Valentines. But the current rating they have is misleading. If you're going for the big entrees like I did, and are used to Gerry's Grill type sisig, prepare to be disappointed. Yelp, you did not come thru for me this time.

I found a seat to try everything Coffee was okay I ordered a salted banana cream latte was very strong coffee tasting no banana I also ordered a white raspberry cheesecake that was good Overall I don't think I would go back it's a bit overpriced for what I got and I completely understand that it was busy but customer service was very lacking

I enjoyed my meal. Also, had lunch for the next day. Service was amazing, it was a busy night and they had plenty of servers. Drinks were never left empty and all employees were very content on helping all of us. In the way of ambience, this place has lots of seating indoors and a few tables outdoors. Be prepared for a little bit of a wait, depending on the time of day but well worth it. While we were there, they had several birthdays celebrated. With a little song and a little dessert.

Expect to wait cause this place is pretty popular in Covina. We waited around 35 mins which is fair being the weekend & brunch hour! They had the food buffet going on so my brothers got that (they didn't have many dessert options), my mom got the cocido soup which she enjoyed! I got the albondigas (meatballs were ground chicken) I actually liked my every much being a different kinda than what I am use too. Even warmed it up the next day for lunch at work! Still so yummy! My grandma got the cheese enchiladas which she loved. They also sang happy birthday & had the whole restaurant singing haha so that was cute & enjoyable. Recommend this spot if you're looking for delicious Mexican food!
