First place I came now that were "open" everyone seemed happy to be to work and Vicente outdid himself by proving friendly and efficient service when he attended me and my mother, keep up the good work El Torito! :) read more

Well Cinco de Mayo was a bust. Thought we'd go out and have some nice drinks and good food, but instead got overcrowded, slow service, plastic cups and too spicey food. First, I called and asked about Cinco de Mayo celebration. Was not told about the $5 cover charge per person to sit on the patio. They took all the outdoor seating away from TT, leaving it harder than usual to get a table in the cantina. Once we did snag a table, it was 20 min before someone asked us if we'd been helped. No! We want drinks! Another 20 min before the drinks came out. Tacos were overly spicey (been here before and it was not the usual) and even at 5pm, most of the condiments for tacos were empty! Maybe not enough staff? Not enough bartenders? Seems a shame since they had so much going on. This visit kinda soured me on the place, not sure if we'll be back any time soon. read more

Destiny was our waitress tonight and her service and hospitality was definitely the highlight of our experience, food came in all at once, went out of her way to ask specific questions to make sure orders were correct. Especially when she asked if I wanted the shots I ordered chilled, which was greatly appreciated. read more

without a doubt the best service on sundays at the buffet thank you myriam as you always provide us with the best drinks from the bar and not to say the buffet is always the best selection of the menudo, and the fajitas with the waffles without a doubt myriam make me come back every sunday the best to provide the service and always with a smile when attending us... i 100% recommend the sunday brunch with her. read more

My 5-Star review is entirely for Vicente our waiter. He was AMAZING! I was iffy walking into this restaurant. It used to be my favorite place ever but I have had some bad experiences here but it's been some time and my boyfriend was craving it so I decided to give it another try. I am gluten free- upon walking in I asked the hostess to please send over the manager as we sat and she said sure but never did! We almost left the restaurant because we waited at our table for 15 minutes before anyone even came over to take our drink order. I had to wave down a manager- he said nothing in the entire restaurant was gluten free ( hard to believe) I even asked if I could get some in marinated meat. He said all meat was marinated already and he could not accommodate me. I said ok. But stayed because boyfriend really wanted food there so we were just going to order to go. Finally our waiter came over, guess there was a change in shifts or table posts and he apologized for the wait. We let him know we were going to order to go and that I couldn't eat there. He said let him check into some food items and he came back and said there is some meat that is not marinated yet and some veggies that could be grilled with it. He assured me the meat was not marinated at all and that the cook would wash down the area before he cooked the food first :) Vicente (our waiter) kept checking on us and making sure I was satisfied with my meal. It turned out delicious with some corn tortillas I was able to make some fajita tacos :) I am very grateful Vicente took the time to accommodate his guest and make sure that I was able to eat as well. I will be going back but I will call ahead to make sure Vicente is working before hand. I know he will take care of me :) Thank you Vicente! read more

I use to go to El Torito all the time. I decided to doordash tonight because I haven't had it in a while and didn't feel well to go out. I also worked in Mexican restaurants for 10 years now and not once have I've seen crispy tacos put in the same container as the rice and beans for to go orders. The enchilada was cold but in a separate container. I literally live walking distance from the plaza El Torito so there's no excuse that it sat too long. Unless it was sitting in the restaurant for a while because the tacos were super soggy and wet. Overall everything else was fine. read more

Came in about 9pm. Party of 2. The hostess let us know about HH which we opt for in the bar area. We sat outside on the patio. It wasn't that busy probably 5 other tables outside & maybe 5 or more inside the bar. Our waitress must have been on her own that night because service was sooo slow! ! The food was good & drinks were good but a lot of time lapsed in between. Which doesn't make for a smooth evening. read more

Sunday brunch is always the best at el Torito. Especially with victor P. being very attentive with our bottomless mimosas. He was ready to serve right on time. Thank you guys. read more

I went for "Taco Tuesday" during Happy Hour for a quick bite with some friends. I couldn't imagine coming here outside of Happy Hour because the food isn't that fantastic. Happy Hour prices bring you cheap huge Dos Equis and roughly half price everything. For the ladies you can get house margaritas for like three dollars. Those nachos were not good and the quesadillas were okay. Parking is easy since it's next the worlds largest Forever21 and one of the bad movie theaters in the IE. If your on a budget and you wanna go out hit Happy Hour here and you can make it a budget need with booze and be under $10 a person. On Tuesday nights you can also score tacos for $1 a piece. read more

El Torito food is ok. Sometimes, I always feel full then a few hours later I get hungry again. This location can get very busy because of its location. Prepare for a wait during peak times. Service is just okay. Nothing stellar from what i've experienced. GREAT HAPPY HOURS THOUGH. Check ahead of their happy hour or .99 tuesday tacos. read more

The waiter was so attentive and nice. The food was actually pretty good and I love the table side Guacamole. I got the salmon from here and it was cooked perfectly. The sauces were great and it all came out in a jiffy. The strawberry cilantro soda was delicious too. Slightly sweet but great for a hot day. Lots and lots of selections on the menu so no matter what diet restrictions you have this place is great for everyone. read more

Last week, my friends and I went to Taco Tuesday at El Torito. It was really busy, but our server, Jheel, did an AMAZING job at making sure we got everything we wanted and went above and beyond, providing extraordinary service! Our tacos were DELICIOUS, appetizers were ON POINT, and the margaritas and beers came out QUICK! without our server, we wouldn't have had such an amazing time. Just wanted to thank El Torito Riverside Plaza for having Jheel as a server. She definitely went above and beyond and we are definitely coming back, just for her service. Thank you Jheel for the service and making sure all our needs were made that night :) read more

Went in for the first time for brunch and it was Mother's Day! I have to say I was pretty impressed with the set up. They had mariachis playing which was definitely a huge plus For me! They had everything under the sun. Mexican and American food. Everything I tried was great! They have waffles that has a special topping called loco banana or something like that and it's to die for!! They were super packed and had a hard time keeping up with the plates at the buffet but that was the only negative on my visit. All the staff had excellent customer service skills! Our drinks were always full which happened to be Mimosas and they brought extra orange juice the entire time. Although there was a lot of hustle and bustle going on I felt they did an excellent job especially on a day like Mother's Day! Great job! I'm definitely going back again. read more

First time here and foo was so good. Great portions and taste. My father and I couldn't fit in the booth due to it being so small so that's the only downside. But when we went outside we were served by Neal... He was a very great waiter. Very attentive and kind! read more

I have never written a Yelp review until today. For starters I made an online reservation for 6 pm I arrived a little earlier checked in no problem was told my table will be ready soon. Noticed two big groups being sat before after they arrived & checked in AFTER me. Went up to the ladies & asked about the table was told they don't take same day reservations but will accommodate okay no problem wish I was told when I arrived sat down five minutes later a group after us was sat down it felt as they completely forgotten then a couple min later said okay we can sit now after we sat the girl didn't say anything & just left the menus after we didn't get a waiter for five minutes not had we been acknowledged I've been to this location plenty of times before & this has never happened. read more

This is probably the worst Experience I've had Eating at El Torito, We arrived there at 1245 to have their brunch bar it took them 30 minutes to seat us and when they did they set us right by entrance and their brunch buffet is clear across the other end. When I walked to serve myself I noticed many empty table near and around the the buffet bar.. the food was look warm the soups were nearly empty, taco bar not manned up consistently, nothing looked freshly made. Seriously I had a Hometown buffet experience at El Torito at 30 dollars per person. Do me once SHAME ON YOU. Never again. read more

Two stars for today's lunch. I had the Chicken Sour and Cream Enchilada. This dish is simply underwhelming for lunch. It is filling but not in a good way. I dare say, it is a waste of calories. Plus one star because of their mean omelette station in their Sunday brunches. My craving for Mexican food was not satisfied with today's foray to El Torito. read more

Came her for lunch with the flavor of the week in G/F's. Since I don't eat carbs anymore I have to order using my head instead of my stomach. So we both ordered fajita salads, without dressing and no oil used to cook the chicken. Well it was eatable but without oil and dressing it really isn't great. The service was good and so was the salsa. read more

Pretty much always good quality of food and drinks, but the service is hit or miss. I have had great waiters, and very poor ones. Taco Tuesday is great during lunch but way too packed for dinner unless u get there early, or don't mind waiting awhile for a table. read more

They have delicious food. There's always a lot of people when you come to the buffet they have on Sundays. I gave three stars because they didn't have any tortillas to eat my food with and they didn't have the waffle guy who makes bananas foster on the waffles. Those two things would've earned 5 stars but now it's just a regular Mexican buffet on Sunday's. read more

Destiny our Sunday brunch server is great! She is sweet and on top of getting us drinks as needed, which we like a lot of champagne and juice! Wonderful brunch! The waiter Victor Perez always the best and very attentive, main reason I always come back! The food is bomb and it's such a great environment to spend time with someone special. Again thank you to Victor me and my wife had a wonderful time dining in. read more

HARASSING MANAGERS! I typically do not write reviews but what I witnessed and overheard today at this location was concerning. I've been coming to this location for years and always order my chicken and sour cream enchiladas to-go. The staff and service are outstanding and welcoming. Always have a positive attitude. However, I came in today to place my order towards the end of their sunday brunch and saw 2 managers (boy and girl) that I have never seen before inappropriately ganging up on a young girl hostess. I witnessed the female manager being very passive aggressive with the girl and then the other manager hopped in and put the hostess down when she tried defending herself. That is bullying and harrasment. I asked the girl if she was okay and assured her that I thought she was in the right but she shrugged and said that this basically happens every day to multiple employees, especially from the female manager. I am truly surprised the US department of labor has not been called. Can not support businesses that support that behavior EW read more
