El Torito - Mexican Near Me - Redondo Beach, California

Went here with my husband and our 6 month child (at about 4:00pm) and let me tell you it was not worth it at all. First of all the way we were greeted was not hospitable and we were quickly told it was going to be a 20 minute wait to which said okay that's fine. A couple minutes passed and me and my husband noticed that there were many empty tables to which we were confused as to why the wait was going to be so long. After waiting that time we were called in by the lady in the front whom i didn't catch the name but she quickly reprimanded us that we would have to hold our child while we sat down and we could not bring his stroller or even his car seat! Never have i felt so unwelcome at a restaurant, you mean to tell me my 6 month child can't even be in a car seat next to me, mind you he was sleeping and my husband and i wouldn't be able to eat if our child isn't sitting down due to his age. Not to mention while we were two groups came in and were quickly seated to a table while we waited more. Proper training has to be done at this restaurant because we should not have waited 20 minutes and have those 20 minutes of our time wasted just because we have our sleeping child next to us. If you have a young child stay away. read more

The only reason I'm giving a 2 star review is because the waiter was nice and brought my daughters ice cream. This place has gone down hill. You used to get good food here but now it's just mediocre and thats putting it lightly. I will never come here again. read more

I'm glad that when we returned nothing has change. the same warm smiles that greeted us back then are the same now. I will definitely be coming back , see you soon ! read more

We were charged 200 for 4 ppl. There were no enchiladas, no avocados or guacamole (had to come home and make my own)! Not a flour tortilla in sight! If you charge a big price make sure you deliver. read more

During my visit the wait was quite long, after waiting for two hours we were taken into seating where the food and drinks were brought out in a timely matter, though there was much confusion between servers on where the food was going. After the wait, a few wings were undercooked and pink which deterred my appetite. Not a pleasant experience. read more

Love coming to this El Torito! Anna was our waitress and we couldn't be happier. Showed up with a party of 11 so she had a lot to handle. Service was top notch, she was very friendly and attentive and even took a group picture for us with one of our cell phones. Food was served quickly and it was hot, fresh and delicious. Can't beat the view of the ocean and sunset! Will definitely be coming back for years to come. Thanks for taking care of us Anna! read more

Had a great time celebrating a birthday, outdoor seating was spacious and tables were safely apart from other families. They brought out a tasty dessert for the birthday girl and sang to her "Happy Birthday" with a Latin flare, even handed me a maraca to be part of the music. Beautiful view of Redondo Beach from inside and on the pier. We ordered two orders of the fajitas, one duo and one will all three proteins, delicious. Affordable kids menu for the kids and great deal for the birthday girl, free entree if you sign up to the eltorito club online. Will def recommend to friends and come again. read more

Our group was way bigger than I expected it to be so I just want to personally thank Dawn, and the other people working there yesterday, Sunday, 7/23, for taking such GREAT care of our chaotic group. You all did such a great job with all of our craziness and I really appreciated the patience and kindness by your staff. Dawn had to think fast on her feet to make sure we were all taken care of and seated. I really appreciated all her extra efforts. The food was GREAT, fresh and being continuously replenished. So many delicious options to choose from. The mimosa's and champagne were great, too. El Torito is always a stop for us when we're at the beach or pier in Redondo. It was great to share it with our out of town guests that were here celebrating our daughter's post-wedding day. Some came from as far as England and Ireland! I can't thank you enough. read more

Times are hard so I was thrilled to learn about the $11.00 Chicken Fajita special. I was so very pleasantly surprised. Being able to witness a sunset that was simply spectacular was inspirational. The fajitas were absolutely delicious. Even better, they came with tortillas, beans, rice, guacamole and the excellent corn. I was already very pleased, but the great service by Andrew was the best part. Personality plus and he was a hoot. Good service is very hard to find these days, but Andrew delivered. The service and great deal were so good that my same party of three is going to return tomorrow for round two! We will request Andrew. read more

Went to the restaurant while spending time in Redondo Beach. First off, the views of the beach and ocean are amazing from the seating next to the windows. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. I ordered the birria tacos and they didn't disappoint. Next time I am in Redondo, I will be coming back. read more

I have had multiple bad experiences at this El Torito spanning quite a few years. This service here is consistently slow. Every time I come here we wait at least an hour for the food to come out. The drinks are also not satisfactory across this board. This visit I ordered the black diamond margarita and the cocktail shaker did not have a top (was spilled on me when it was poured) and only 1/4 of the rim had black salt. When I mentioned it, the waitress said it comes that way, when I have had it multiple times at other El Toritos and the photo on the menu had full salt. A friend who was with me ordered a margarita and it had a chemical taste when it came out. Another friend ordered chicken enchiladas and it came out with beef and shrimp. I wouldn't recommend for anyone to come here. I usually am not big on leaving reviews, but it was warranted. read more

I love this place. Been coming here for years. The rice and beans better then mexico the Micheladas better then any place in the south bay

Our waitstaff Jose R is very accommodating. I recommend this place for both dating and for family. The view is spectacular. I'm just not as impressed with the quality of food. I think overtime, it's becoming dry and more on not freshly made like before. Shrimp is not fresh. But I still gave 5 stars for the service rendered. 3-16-2020 - Must try the $10 MudPie Ice Cream dessert! read more

I been here before and the food has always tasted like it came from a bag or box decided to again here since I was out for a walk at the beach. And let me tell you, El torito has gone from a 6.5 to a solid 9 when their food is concerned. I didn't rate it a ten because there is always room for improvement. The drinks were also on point, they didn't taste watered down. I got their new pineapple margarita and it's my new favorite drink. I also ordered off the appetizer menu, the flautas, everything was fresh, crunchy and the sauce that came with it, my goodness foodgasm ! As far as the ambiance, what more can you ask for, the beach is right there . The service was excellent! A1 service . read more

The ONLY reason I'm giving two stars and not one is for Maria, who took the time to listen and give us a discount and didn't need to. GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE AT THE REDONDO PIER! Horrible, lackluster not even trying kinda service. Like I'm not at the Santa Monica pier to be treated like some a-hole tourist. Someone in our party started choking and coughing after swallowing a pepper seed. We were seated next to the bar and the bartender REFUSED to give us water. Hello? She kept saying our server would bring us water...as I'M WATCHING HIM IN THE BACKGROUND getting someone else's drink at a bar. When management asked me about how everything was HE WALKED AWAY WHILE I WAS STILL TALKING. The bartender and broh manager can kick rocks, got me all aggro like a damn Karen and I'm brown, dawg! Why you gotta do us like that? Embarrassing I brought family here. read more

I tried out a fajita steak taco. The item description in the menu was misleading... I asked for no onions... And well... My steak fajitas came with nothing; I was really hoping for peppers and mushrooms since the menu said it had that. Our group also tried out their margarita and quesadilla. Both were serviceable and the service was fine enough. Note that there doesn't seem to be good air conditioning in the actual restaurant which is why we asked to be moved outside. read more

I love this location because the quality is always consistent and this time the salsa was not spicy like it usually is which was great. However, this review is specifically for Dawn M. who was an amazing server. She got us everything we needed in a prompt and friendly matter. Despite it being a busy Saturday night, she was very fast and very helpful. Her service was outstanding as if I was at a High-end steak house. She had no problem continually refilling our salsa and getting us water and chips and salsa to go. She really is representing the restaurant and company very well and we look forward to sitting in her section in our subsequent visits. Thanks Dawn! You are amazing!! read more

Service is hit or miss. Today was terrible and it's been more "miss" that "hit" lately. I was given my check AS SOON as I ordered as if I couldn't have time to decide on if I wanted another drink or dessert and that was the fastest service I experienced today. The food was not good either. When I was given my change from paying my bill, it was minus a dollar or so. I assume she kept what she wanted as a tip so I didn't bother to leave more. I probably would've faired better at one of the food stands outside of this el torito. read more

I'll have to give this one 5 stars since it was WAY better than their sister restaurant in Hawthorne. The only thing I would say, is that it's pretty pricey. For a group of 8 that had 4 teenagers and a child, it was close to $300 (they added gratuity and you can only use one card). And we didn't even have cocktails. But the food was tasty and the server was nice and got all of our orders right. The salsa is ok, but ask for the hot one to get a yummier alternative. The views of the ocean are beautiful, and probably amazing during the day. read more

Went here today with my little boy waited 50 minutes. I didn't want to wait that long but my boy insisted he likes the view. I ordered the nachos and he order the chicken tenders. They brought my food out first and my kid gives me this smirk, he was really hungry. After a few minutes the waitress comes back and informs us that they don't have chicken tenders and if he would like something else. Wtf!!! It's been almost 2 hours of waiting I felt so bad for my kid his face said it all. We left and got him something to eat downstairs read more

Bait & Switch My girlfriend and I came here last night for happy hr. I must admit we unfortunately got there as soon as HH ended. Upon walking in, we immediately let the host know that we were there for HH. We were told that it just ended, which we understood. The manager Matt then joins the conversation and offered us our first round for free. Still hesitant we almost refused as he went on and said "c'mon who doesn't like free drinks." Finally convinced we stayed. From where I was sitting, I saw the manager and host approach our server and told him something which made the server look towards where we were sitting. I figured that the manager had told the server about compensating our first round of drinks. As a recent Yelp Elite member and returning loyal customer I was looking forward to leaving a review. We were taking pictures of our food and drinks for Yelp content. Fast forward to our entire experience, the server Horacio was exceptional. He suggested great tasting food and drinks. We were having a lovely time. After dinner, our bill reflected the drinks that were suppose to have been taken out. We politely reminded the server that it should've been waived. The server went to the manager and came back with 10% off- $3 less on our total. My friend did some quick math and realized that this is way less than what was promised. We let Horacio know that, although, we're grateful we felt like the discount did not match the price of what was initially promised. The manager then came to our table reneging what he promised and gave us his explanation and increased the discount to 20% which was $9. At this point my friend and I felt lied to. It was an eye roll. Whatever. Anywho, there is paid structure parking. This location has an ocean view. It's great for large parties and it's recently renovated. read more
