The food has always been good but the service has always been bad I felt like it's my job to refill my drinks my waiter was too busy trying to impress girls and the other waitress kept ignoring me because it wasn't her table read more

Had dinner here tonight, but was actually craving another local restaurant. Was very busy dinner crowd--every table was full w/ more waiting to be seated. Our service was okay--forgot a drink order for most of the dinner and got a different dinner plate than what I originally ordered, but they were extremely busy and possibly understaffed, but it won't stop me from dining here in the future. The chips and salsa were delish--the flour tortilla chips were yum! read more

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, excellent margaritas, and great service, this is the place. We know good Mexican food and this wonderful restaurant did not disappoint. Eddie is so welcoming and so nice. The chips and salsa are the best and we loved our meals. If you like the real deal and authentic cooking this is the place for you. We give it a total thumbs up! This is it!! read more

Ordered a Chile relleno expecting a full Chile but there was barely any Chile that I could see . I definitely don't order that dish for the egg and they used jack cheese instead of queso fresco but the Chile was the most disappointing part rice and beans where good but COME ON NOW don't be cheap read more

Always loved this place since I was a kid, but I came here a few months ago with my mom and she ordered shredded beef tacos. The meat was literally green and rancid. As a microbiology student, that didn't sit well with me. Will not be coming here again. Ew. read more

Love this place. Amazing food. The prices are great and you get a lot for your money. And Adolfo makes some of the best drinks! Everyone is super friendly. One of our favorite places for sure! read more

Meh, this place is OK. Food comes out VERY fast which makes me think that it is all pre made. Not very fresh tasting.

Great margaritas and their homemade tortilla chips are delicious. However the salsa left a lot to be desired and the food was very bland. The food seemed too be very unseasoned and lacked in color. The service was good however (: read more

Disappointed, this is typical dumbed-down, americanized mexican food. If you are looking for this, its great. If you are looking for flavor and true mexican crusine forget it. Even the margaritas are made with a mix. Doesn't anyone make an authentic margarita? read more

Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Jackson. Great food. Great chips & salsa. Separate bar where you can have dinner away from the main dining room. Adolfo (a member of the family that owns the place) may be the best Mexican restaurant bartender in the world. He seems to be able to anticipate what you want as you are thinking it. The tequila selection is terrific. read more

I love this place. I go there about once a week. Good food and great margaritas.

I love the chips and Salsa but I'm used to better service. We went in to order are food to go because we had to get back to two babys and they said it would be 15 to 20 mintues and I admit it took us a little longer to order because they have alot to choose from but when we place our order before the couple that comes in before us and they get there first isn't normal the even had a larger order then us then it take 35 mintues to get us the food and it was super cold. I don't like cold food epically when we're paying almost 35 dollars. . We've been a couple times but sadly won't go back because of the service we recived. Everything else is decent not the best but it's better then some. read more

This is bomb Mexican food. It is an authentic family restaurant run by great people. We've gone twice and both times the food and service was excellent and friendly. I was recommended to go because the margaritas were supposed to be really good. They did not disappoint. It's nice to get good authentic Mexican food locally! read more

Man, can it get any worse? You might as well order water as that is all your going to get anyway. Seasonings can be expensive, I guess that's why they don't use any. Enter at your own risk. read more

They have okay food but definitely overpriced for what you get and they like to overcharge you too. They will charge you for a single Al a carte item with no rice or beans as almost same price as a combo meal with two items rice and beans and the menu and waiters are not clear in what they offer. Now I know why it had been awhile since I ate there. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner recently and sadly we will never go back. We arrived an hour before closely and were treated as though we had inconvienced them by even coming in. The beans and rice seemed as though they were microwaved. Very disappointed. read more

Are they hiring? because it seems like they should be. Anyway, the service was very bad. The food was delicious and the margaritas were quick but on the light side. I enjoyed my experience. wish they would check in on me more because I like drinking lots of margaritas. The bus boy snitched on us. read more

When I 1st visit a Mexican Restaurant I start the reviewing by observing the crowd. We arrived at 11:56 and there was only one table occupied. I was a bit concerned that by noon it was empty. We were seated and soon the chips and salsa arrived, we each ordered a cold draft beer. The waitress came back and said our drinks were coming from the bar soon. We placed our orders. We each ordered our favorite, Huevos Rancheros. When I try out a New Mexican place I always order the same meal so I can compare them to all the other Mexican restaurants. I will say the chips and salsa were very good. They have a flour tortilla chip as an alternative to regular corn chips. They were very unique. As a few diners arrived they were seated by an 8 year old child. What is that about? Where in California is an 8 year old allowed to work? He was serving chips and salsa to diners. This is the second Mexican restaurant that I have seen a child working in. Where are the FDA Inspectors when you need one? Back to the food, it did not have any flavor or spice at all. It was typical refries and Spanish rice along with the Huevos Rancheros. I do not like when a restaurant brings out steaming hot plates of food and the beans have a skin and the main course has a skin from either a microwave or a salamander. This means the food is not freshly made and it was evident in our meals. We eat this particular meal everywhere we go and this was not worth eating, neither of us finished our tasteless meal. read more

This has become a favorite, casual place to go at the last minute - especially on Thursday nights. I'd love to say its because they have the best Mexican food ever. But, while that could be true, the real draw is their top shelf margaritas. Best ever. Trust me. 40+ trips to Mexico, and all I needed to do was go to Jackson and save the $$&. Best margaritas ever. Did I mention that? Food is good too - especially the fish and chili relleno. Try the calamari - and a top shelf m.............. read more

Great food. Great service. Enjoyed the El Toro Chicken. This is one of my favorite dishes at the restaurant.

This was my second meal at the establishment and my last. I've gone to this place on my way to the local casino. Casinos are noted for having crappy food but in this case the casino would have been a better choice. I don't remember much about my first visit other than to say it must not have been bad, hence my second trip. This time was horrid. Bland , less than "Taco Bell" quality. My partner ordered beef taco and enchilada combo plate. I ordered the "Steak Ranchero". After about 25 minutes our food came. The combo plate was chicken. They kindly took the plate away and in less than 2 minutes had the "beef" combo at our table. Clearly the plate had been microwaved as it had that rubberized coating on the top. The beef was shredded though the menu did not indicate that as it did on the other beef choices. Their comment was " we don't offer ground beef". What? That wasn't the question. We were expecting anything but shredded or ground. Cubed maybe? Strip steak? My plate was maybe a half dozen pieces of cubed beef in a bowl of hot red sauce with onions and peppers. A small scoop of rice and beans. $9 for that. I will eat the casino food over this place during my next visit to Jackson. read more

Ate here last night and was very happy with the food, drinks and the service. Rosy was our server and she was excellent. Will eat here more often. read more

Delicious!!! Combinaciones grande #1, chile Colorado and combo fajitas all great. Shredded beef very tender and tasty. Refried beans definitely not from a can. Decor needs updating, but who cares with food this good?! read more

We love to eat here, in fact we eat here once a week. Their chicken tortilla soup is really great, especially teamed up with a crisp salad. My hubby loves the chicken enchiladas and the tamales. The service is excellent. read more

How can so many people claim this restaurant is good? Hands down the worst Mexican food I have ever had...and the diarrhea that followed later that evening was equally bad. How can food taste that bland going in and come out so spicy on the other end? My bunghole burned for at least an hour after the whole ordeal. read more

Have been eating at this restaurant for 15 years, and just ate there for the last time. Hadn't been in for almost 4 months, I had been traveling, and, when I went in they didn't even ask where I had been. In-fact they were almost , unfriendly. The food was not hot, and I had to ask for more chips. I sank down so low in the seat, I felt like a child at the big table. This restaurant needs to make some drastic changes., in order to get my vote again. read more

The food was not that great not to authentic either some items seemed like they were canned and microwaved. Me being Mexican I've eaten at many restaurants do to family and friends owning one. read more

It is safe to assume that anywhere near a German speaking country, there would be a lot of German food restaurants. This phenomenon is true of anywhere you go in California when it comes to Mexican food. It's everywhere ...kind of like unemployment these days. Nevertheless El Torero turns out better than average Mexican food and the people working there care enough to be friendly. Consider ordering whole beans as an option. Frijoles are such a staple that it's not such a bad idea to change it up here. The adjacent cantina has an impressive selection of tequilas, which is fine unless you've ever in your life had a tequila hangover and then all you want to see there is just a bunch of pretty bottles. Which is what I see. The cervesa selection is ample. Some of what I originally imbibed in Mexico eventually found its way here and that made me happy. Good food, nice people, well supplied bar ...what? You need more than that? read more
