Great home-style vibe Mexican restaurant in Moab. I ordered the enchiladas de mole ($18.50) - they were delicious with a nice mole sauce and flavorful rice and beans on the side. I wouldn't say it was particularly special, but definitely very good. The restaurant has a family-style vibe with colorful decor and a lively atmosphere. It was fairly busy around dinnertime, but we were able to be seated without any wait. The staff are friendly and the service speed is pretty quick. Stopped by for dinner honestly just because nothing else was open and this place was open late! The chips and salsa were good, chips were a little stale but the salsas were tasty. We got the carne asada plate and the quesobirria tacos. They were both really good but crazy overpriced. We had an excellent dinner here tonight. The menu is extensive. We started with guacamole that was chunky with avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, lime, and jalapeño peppers on the side. It was wonderful. The chips and salsa were excellent. We each had three tacos, beans, and rice, I also had a Chile rellenos. Everything was excellent. Went back and it was nothing like our first visit. The hostess was rude when we asked for a booth away from the door you would thought it was a personal thing. She said she could put us in a table which we did but noticed a number of booths that were quickly filled up after we sat down. We ordered and the kitchen screwed up our order. The portions are gigantic!! Though admittedly, the price is also gigantic. Moab is the only town within 100 miles and it shows in the price. Service is ordinary, and the lighting is very dim. I don't understand why restaurants have dim lights. Food is well seasoned. read more

This place was absolutely fire Walking distance from most Moab hotels, getting here was a breeze. Once arriving, we were informed that there was going to be a 20-30 minute wait, but we ended up getting seated within 5 minutes. I enjoyed the decorations - homey yet eccentric. Cool paintings on the chairs! Each table gets free chips, salsa, and cabbage salad. The cabbage salad was amazing - cabbage was slightly pickled, tossed with fresh herbs and onion. So good I asked for more. As for my entree, I ordered the El Tapatio Special which comes with grilled steak, chicken, bacon wrapped shrimp, rice, and beans. It was huge - more than enough for two, and everything was amazing. All the meat was tender, juicy, flavorful. The shrimp came with these buttered mushrooms, and they were incredible. My wife and I went here for lunch the day we did a big hike in Arches. It was FABULOUS, some of the best Mexican food we've had. (we're from Socal). My wife had tacos, I had enchiladas, and it was great. It was a little empty but it was 2pm, a late lunch. The Hotel recommended this place, they weren't wrong. It was so good we went back for late breakfast the day we were leaving Moab, and I had the Huevos Rancheros - Excellent. Its a small family chain with about 7-8 locations around Southern Utah & AZ. Pretty standard experience here for a sit down Mexican restaurant. Had the fun colorful decor on the interior! The food was about what I expect for Mexican food. We had a carne asada quesadilla, chicken mole burrito, and chicken mole enchilada plate. I wish the quesadilla had more cheese in it, but the carne asada had excellent flavor. The Spanish rice and refried beans were very flavorful. The mole sauce had peanut butter in it, which was a tasty twist. We also had a classic frozen marg, which came in a giant goblet! Green sauce was good, red sauce was okay. Beans were really good, they may have used lard in frying them. It's one of the places open on Sundays. Restaurant was clean and didn't smell bad. After a long day at Arches, we were starving and decided to come to El Tapatio and I'm really glad we did! I knew the food was going to be good when the chips and two salsas were delicious. I got the burrito a la crema which is a chicken burrito with a creamy sauce which comes with rice and beans and my brother got the burrito de la casa which is a carne asada burrito with rice and beans inside and guac and enchilada sauce on top. Both of our burritos were SO GOOD!! Portions were huge and filling I had leftovers to bring back such me. Between the chicken and carne asada, I would definitely their carne asada because it was so well seasoned and juicy. They have a big menu and lots of options, so there's something for everyone. Service was great! The servers were friendly and checked on us often. Our food also came out quick after we ordered. Nice Mexica option in Moab. Service was good, I wasn't a fan of the chips and salsa. I didn't realize this was a chain until after we left. Everything about this restaurant screams Mexican! Honestly, it deserves a 5 star rating due to service, atmosphere, and food, but I knocked it down to a 4 because it is overpriced. I believe they are taking advantage of the traveling market in Moab and charging more then you'd find at other Mexican restaurants across the U.S. (and I have been to a lot of them). That being said, when you walk in you'll immediately feel the Mexican vibes. The restaurant is vibrant, with a lot of windows and beautiful bars. The service was fantastic as well. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. The reason we are all here, the food. Chips and salsa were good. It also came with a cabbage style salsa that was not that good, but that would be a personal preference. The asada tacos were delicious and extremely flavorful! Just look at how full they are stuffed! It is two meals in itself. The quesabirria was also very flavorful and delicious!
