My husband and I decided to try out this place since we were craving some Mexican food. PROS: + Employee was very friendly. Since I was out of town, he shared some recommendations for me that were worth a visit. + Portions were decent. CONS: - I ordered the carne asada plate. It came with rice and beans. It was supposed to come with a side of tortillas, but it didn't make it into my order. First of all, the meat was not good. There was no flavor, it was dry, and it had a game-y taste to it. - I placed an order on the phone, so we can pick it up. I still had to wait an extra 10+ minutes to receive my food. It was my birthday and I had called ahead to bring my dogs. The owners were very gracious to put us in the back with our 2 dogs. We felt like we were part of their family. The made me a special margarita, and the food was excellent! They also sang Happy Birthday while we wore our Sombreros! I think it was their daughter who played the guitar and sang a pop song on the radio. She should be on the Voice! Their son Abraham was very friendly and so nice we enjoyed talking with him throughout our meal. Thank you again for making my Birthday a special one! read more

The wait staff was quite friendly, attentive and encouraged me to use what little Spanish I know (it's not everyday I get to make jokes in Spanish). The food was delicious, arrived hot to the table in a most timely manner. The waiter even brought us some specially made little desserts after our meal. While it's tucked behind Ashland Motor Company, it is not hard to find despite what some have stated. We highly recommend El Tapatio. read more

Delicious tamales with verde sauce. The margarita hit the spot and music provided a great atmosphere. Service was prompt and super nice!

Ate dinner here and was so impressed. Had a chicken enchilada and guacamole. The enchilada was delicious, chicken very tender and sauce so tasty. I generally just ignore rice and beans but not this time. The rice was so fluffy and flavorful! Also had guacamole and seriously, I think they made it right then and there. It was so fresh and wonderful! And then to top it all off, pretty soon we have a wonderful classical guitarist playing for us the rest of the meal. Such a talented man! My 1st time eating here. It was the closest Mexican restaurant close to where I was visiting my sister. My niece ordered a mangoneada, they didn't know how to make those. I ordered a strawberry blended Margarita and it tasted like a smoothie. For our meal I ordered Nachos and they were the weirdest Nachos ever. In my whole life I have never had nachos at a Mexican restaurant who uses Nacho cheese sauce mixed in with yellow cheese! I couldn't handle that so I didn't eat them. I mean I guess when you're at the movie theater or at a baseball game then that would be expected. The waiter took my meal off the check. Food had good flavor but was very disappointed in our server. He was in charge of making sure that cook does his job correctly. Ordered fajitas for 2, combo of chicken & steak. Someone else at our table ordered steak fajitas for one. She had at least double the meat we had and had 4 tortillas. Ours came with 3 tortillas for 2 people so we had to ask for more of course. Our portion of the 2 meats for the 2 of us couldn't have been more than 2/3 cup at the very most chopped into very, very, very small pieces so it was easier to spread out. Since this was a larger skillet it was very obvious that there was not enough food on it. Not worth the $30 we paid and left hungry. Our waiter was busy setting up the empty dining room for a party so we didn't complain until we were done eating. Acted rather shocked that this could happen. Lots of other Mexican food places to try so we won't be coming back. read more

Great place. The customer service was exceptional. Our waiter was so attentive. The food was very good. I had the fajitas with steak and it had an amazing flavor to it (better than the norm I've had other places). Large portions. There was live music (wasn't your traditional mexican music) but was still nice to have some music. The only downside was finding the parking lot. But worth it! read more

I feel bad leaving a review but this has to be said, The salsa tasted like pepper water with no flavor, we asked for our cheese dip 4 times I counted, my boyfriend asked for no tomato's in his salad and he got them, my cheese dip had green stuff inside of it that we asked to be left out, my boyfriend had no ranch for his salad so we asked & they didn't bring it so he had to walk up and get it, I'm pregnant and I didn't want onions or tomatoes in my enchilada but it still came out with it inside of it, the tea was very very old and hard to swallow as well as my boyfriend not getting a to go box when we asked so we left and The table next to us got refills and we had to ask for them to refill our drinks even though we where there first.. This is my least favorite restaurant ever. Used to be my favorite a long long time ago. Had a taste for Mexican food tonight. We ordered drinks and food, drinks arrived. Immediately the drinks were suspect. Our margarita were returned to the server and we ordered shots instead (which were never delivered, nor enjoyed) Food arrived, the Chile relleno burrito looked good, the house nachos were unacceptable, a mushy layer of chips and cheese stuck to the plate topped with a tablespoon of both guacamole and sour cream. Again gross. Their "regular" margarita was not the regular color, it was lime green colored and smelled like cleaning products not tequila and lime - to sum it up in a word "gross" is more fitting than "regular" We decided to leave and the elderly male server said I needed to pay, I pressed. $5 into his hand and we left. I figure that more than paid for the chips and salsa we enjoyed while waiting for our drinks. Save yourself the trouble of heartburn and anxiety. Don't patronize this restaurant. read more

We were just stopping through and we grabbed a couple of breakfast burritos. They were really yummy, he made them really quickly and specially for us. The salsa was really good, and I've had tons of different salsas in my life being from San Diego, and I thought this one was one of my favorites! Customer service was great, it looked like a fun place to be! Hopefully they will get to have people dine in soon, I know it's been so hard for a lot of businesses with the pandemic. read more

So the reviews are either love it or hate it! We decided to see for ourselves... ummm no! Restaurant had no one in it when we walked in shortly after many started to come in... our server/greeter was NOT pleasant... by end of our meal he did warm up a little but still not pleasant ... chips were cold and not fresh, food was microwaved not only could I tell but could hear the microwave while waiting for food... food came, mine was barley warm... guess mine was first in microwave. Ground beef was awful.. super burrito was eh... nothing special. Needless to say we won't be back! read more

Had a really nice time here. They have great Cadillac margaritas. Best I've had in a long time!! I ordered enchiladas suizas ate very bite! My husband had ceviche and it was really good. The owner if extremely friendly and they have a guy who sings and plays the guitar and his singing is amazing. Great patio too outside. We will be back!!! read more

Beautiful Mexican restaurant. Delicious food. They even have their rewards program. We were a group of 9 that went on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. For so many people, the weight was not bad at all. They do have homemade chips and salsa. We also heard music in the background. When I asked, we were told the band was practicing. I wish I could give it 0 stars. I order #15 Chile relleno and an enchilada, it came with rice and beans; but said no rice. I was so disappointed!! As soon as the waiter brought my plate my food was submerged in beans. And the Chile relleno only had a strip of Pasilla chille and just overloaded in cheese and egg. I've ordered El Tapatio's mole enchiladas a couple times and they're pretty good, but today I wanted a burger, so I ordered that. Big mistake. They charged me $3.60 just to get the bacon removed from the burger (not added, REMOVED; would've disputed if I was in the restaurant, but it was delivery) and the fries are probably the most depressing I've had in my life. Think dry, soft, bland, unsalted, like chewing a paper towel with a slight hint of potato. But I guess that's what I get for ordering fast food from a Mexican restaurant. The two stars are purely for past experiences, because this current experience gets no stars. read more
