An unexpected stop when I first brought my car to the local Toyota service department. Even more unexpected was how good the food is. I got the birria street taco plate and the first bite of the tacos brought tears to my eyes, literally not figuratively. Everything was made fresh and came out tasty, I might need to take my car in more often. The atmosphere is relaxed and there's a good amount of seating with light foot traffic. Madysen was very helpful and made me feel welcome, a rarity in my few outings. The service was excellent and I left wanting for nothing. I'll be back, El Taco Rojo! read more

I ordered the loaded breakfast burrito this time and the taste was very good. The service was great, but I have noticed the portion sizes have gotten smaller over time with them. While on a long drive from Northern California to Southern California, we stopped in Bakersfield to fuel up our vehicle as well as ourselves. I looked for highly rated tacos in the area in anticipation for more great Mexican food to come in San Diego. This place was rated fairly well by what sounded like locals and regulars so we decided to give it a try. I was very confused to find out that this was attached to a car dealership. Honestly, it's genius. I wish that the dealership I get my vehicle serviced at had a Taqueria attached to it. Well, I'd likely go to a dealership more often, but that's besides the point. We noticed many of the employees stopping in to grab a quick bite which was encouraging to see because it likely meant that they've tried it before and we're willing to eat there again. The inside is fairly bare bones, but it's kept clean and organized. Again, this is a Taqueria attached to a dealership so I have no idea what I was expecting anyway. I placed my order for some Birria tacos and a side of consume. It took about 15 minutes for it to come out but when it did, it was piping hot. The consume was good and had decent flavor, but it was thinner than I'm used to. The tacos themselves also had good flavor, but somehow felt lighter than typical Birria tacos. This could be a good thing if you're watching your waistline but it's just not what I think of when I'm ordering Birria. Overall, I'm glad we stopped by for the unique experience, but I couldn't really say that I would drive out of my way to come back. It's above average, but only marginally. Good for when you're hungry and close by but it may not blow your socks off. read more

Had some quesa birria tacos. Very good. Better than more popular places like La Villa and a lot more affordable. If it's one thing I enjoy it's some good consume and this place makes it right. Very good food the only thing is the chips were a bit stale. But overall very good. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. read more

I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito; eggs, potatoes, sausage, and cheese w/ green salsa on the side. I was hopeful. Unfortunately ETR wasn't it. When we plugged El Taco Rojo into our gps and it took us to an auto mall we were super confused so don't worry when you pull up to Toyota, you are in the right place. I ordered a chicken burrito and added avocado for $1 (what a steal, I'll gladly pay $1 for avocado) . My husband ordered the taco Tuesday Quesatacos deal with a side of consome for $9.50. Overall, my burrito was good but there was almost too much rice to meat ratio. My husband's tacos were delicious but make sure you eat them fast. Birra is notorious for getting soggy very quickly. Although this was my first time seeing a restaurant in an auto mall I think it's genius. read more

Never heard of this place. So glad I finally did. I was getting my car serviced and the technician suggested that I go here for lunch. The hot, hot sauce is so hot it hurts, but so good you cannot stop. The entire meal was great and it only cost $14.61. I had three tacos, rice, beans, and Consome. Plus that excellent hot sauce and a water for that small price. The Tacos were greasy and crunchy and hot and good. Just like a taco should be. The refried beans and rice were cooked to perfection and were a perfect side for the tacos. For a tiny restaurant attached to a Toyota Service Building, one would not think twice about it. However, don't think twice. GO EAT THERE. I highly recommend this little place for great Mexican food. Enjoy. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. They have been my favorite since they started and were on union. HANDS DOWN the best Birria in town. What I love the most is their options. And they have an amazing salsa for their Birria. The Los compas combo is a great option if you've never been here you get a quesataco taco dorado and a mulita the mulita is my fave. They put beans in their mulita. Overall the location is nice pricing is great and their food always hits. I've never had a bad experience with this place even via DoorDash. I grabbed a bite to eat here while my car was being serviced at Toyota. I ordered off the lunch menu, which is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. I ordered the street taco plate, which included 4 tacos, rice, beans, and a drink for $10. The food was great; everything had good flavor, and the staff was very friendly. I wasn't a huge fan of the green salsa, but other salsas are available. There's a few tables inside, and it looked like picnic tables outside. My complaint here comes after the fact that when I saw the charge on my account, the lunch special should have been $10 plus tax, but I was charged $12.24. I was not sure what I was charged for, as all I ordered was the special, I thought. They did not offer a receipt, so I am unable to go back and check what the charges were for. If I am hungry while getting my vehicle serviced, I will likely eat here again, but pay close attention to the amount before paying. However, I would not go out of my way to eat here otherwise, unfortunately. read more

El Taco Rojo is in the Bill Wright car dealership which makes it unique. The staff was friendly, and the food and drinks were great! We had breakfast burritos: I ordered the birria and my son the chorizo. He ordered horchata and i was feeing healthy so i ordered the cucumber agua fresca. Good flavors - fresh, great habanero sauce! Both burritos had ample portions of meat, eggs, and cheese inside. They were covered with red sauce - rojo after all! This place is at the auto mall inside Toyota services. Anyone can come in and get food. You don't have to get your car serviced. The service was fast and great. Now let's get to the burrito! Food was actually pretty delicious but the portion is really small for the prices. Service was fast only because I placed the order via grub hub. If the portions were a little bigger I would for sure be here a little more often and definitely would have gave it a 5. Just my personal opinion. Went back a couple more times and it was really really good actually. Had to give them their 5 stars for redeeming themselves with my last two orders that's all I will say. read more
