I visit el monte every couple of months to get my car serviced. Had a taco craving and found el taco man as the top taco spot in the area. This restaurant is tucked away almost in a residential area with a small parking lot. Got lucky with no line and my large order of tacos (20+) came out within 10 mins. I got carne asada, al Pastor, and cabeza. Al pastor and the cabeza hits so good. The carne needs a lil more flavor and a lil chewy for my liking thus minus 1 star. The horchata was not too sweet and just perfect and the green and red salsa had the right amount of heat and doesn't create the burning anus like king taco salsa. Overall my family and I loved the food and my kids r encouraging me to drive more so I can get my car serviced sooner. Lol. read more

I have been coming here for years and haven't left a review on this place yet! Food - For my last visit I decided on Carne Asada Tacos and Carne Asada Mulitas. I typically do the tacos which the meat is very well seasoned and not dry, and the salsa they provide is amazing. It was my first time trying a mulita from here, and I'm not sure what it is, but this was the best mulita I had. Service - Service has always been amazing here. No matter who it is, I have always been greeted so kindly. Ambiance - the restaurant is more of a home where you order from the window for take out or dine in (which they do have a patio area with a few tables). " THE WET BURRITO was all rice and tortilla, tiny portion of carne asada,and meat was minced small,you couldn't even taste it,a lot of nasty green sauce,I didn't care for the taste,it was off,and for $9.00+tax you would expect a fat portion of meat,but what you get is tons of rice,and not at all worth it. We ordered 2 fish tacos and 2 shrimp tacos $11...all thick breading and a tiny sliver of fish,((see photo))the shrimp tacos were no better,2 tiny shrimp per taco,in a greasy breading,I'm telling you now, 'JUST DON'T GO" a waste of your time and money. Highly recommended by several of my associates, this hole in the wall boasts some delicious Mexican eats. I had ordered three tacos which were asada, al pastor, and fish. All three tacos were delicious, especially the fish taco. You can tell that they make their food to order. My friend tells me that they recently started to accept credit cards too! Parking is very limited in their lot, so it may just be easier to find parking on the street instead. Can't wait to come back again to try their remaining menu! read more

This is such a small spot and it felt like a place we frequent in East Los Angeles. We got a Carne asada tostada, potato tacos, a shrimp burrito, and Carne asada tacos. I was in the area and swung by for some tacos. I ordered Lengua, Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and a Fish Taco. Bear in mind that this place is CASH ONLY! - The Lengua was very bland, it really needed some salt or other seasonings to make it more flavorful. All I taste is the salsa, onions, and slight beefiness - The Al Pastor was good and tasty. It wasn't amazing or phenomenal, but it was what Al Pastor should taste like - The Barbacoa was slightly dry but tasty - The Fish Taco was perfectly crispy and well cooked, but again underseasoned. They should mix spices and salt into the batter to give it more flare. The size of the fish was pretty large, so I'm glad they didn't skimp on it. - All the tacos have a good amount of meat in them. read more

Great place for burritos and tacos. I've eaten two types of burritos so far-carne asada and shrimp and both are generously portioned and come with a lot of seasoned asada or shrimp. The shrimp burrito has a tangy sauce on the inside and it's my favorite. The carne asada burrito is loaded with asada. The red and green salsa provided are delicious and pair so well with the burritos. Service is fast, even with the lunch line. read more

The Al Pastor Taco was excellent. Lots of meat in the taco. The pieces of meat were very tender and packed with flavor. The taco tortilla held its own without becoming overly soggy. The onions were fresh and crispy. I also had Tacos de Papa (potato tacos) which came in a set of three. The potato tacos were pretty good. The taco shells were crispy. The potato filling was nicely mashed and was slightly sweet. Good portion of the potatoes in the taco. Service was good. We ordered through the phone and by the time we arrived it was ready. I usually don't give out reviews or it's actually I don't care but this one is a must. The food i had here is the Wet burrito with the green sauce the best I have eaten anywhere. And I usually get the same one every time and recently I tried the shrimp burrito which is totally different and the taste is so good it made savour everything slowly. I've been going to this place for almost two years. What I can say is that the consistency has always been there. My go to order is usually a chorizo or carnitas torta. Meat is always of excellent quality, ingredients are fresh, the flavor is rich. I usually get it with either salsa verde or roja (both are delicious) and lime wedges on the side. Aguas frescas are also very good, but my favorite is the pepino, or cucumber. Very refreshing. Service is always very friendly and professional. After going regularly enough, they've come to recognize me and me them. I'm sure one of the reason for the consistency in the food is the consistency in the work staff. This establishment is a little gem within El Monte! I had their fish tacos for the first time and I REALLY like them. I'd say top 5 fish taco in the area. The only reason why I came to this place was because my normal spot had a long line and I didn't want to wait. Thank goodness for Taco Man! The tacos were FULL and the fish were big and crunchy! The only pitfall was that they didn't give any of those big yellow peppers cover is spices and salt. And they gave lemons wedges instead of lime wedges.
