Taco Tuesday Done Right I decided to make today a Taco Tuesday kind of day, and of course I had to come back to one of my longtime favorites, El Tacazo. I've been coming here for over 20 years, and that kind of longevity says a LOT! This is one of those South Phoenix spots that has been serving up those comforting, authentic Mexican flavors for generations. I picked up my lunch through the drive-thru and ordered the al pastor tacos and carnitas tacos. The al pastor was delicious -- SO flavorful, perfectly cooked, and packed with that savory, seasoned goodness I was craving. But the carnitas?! Those were absolutely my favorite! Tender, flavorful, and seriously delicious. Every bite had me thinking, yep... this is exactly why I've been coming back for 20+ years. And one of my favorite parts of this visit was getting to meet the owner while I was picking up my order. She was incredibly friendly and even noticed me taking pictures for my review -- which made the whole experience feel extra personal and sweet. I always appreciate when the people behind a longtime local favorite take a moment to connect with their customers. Taco Tuesday was officially a success. Great food, longtime memories, friendly service, and carnitas that completely stole the show. So I came in looking for a new Taco place, and the tacos were good. Not outrageously good, but good. The Lengua tacos were good, carne asada seemed old, and the Ceviche tostada was ok. Don't go here. This place is questionable. It look very old and dirty. There guacamole sucks, its very watery and taste like it came from a bag. As a Mexican establishment you should be able to make fresh guac everyday, its so basic like making fresh salsa. Any Mexican person can make it, I would know I'm Mexican. Also don't waste your money on the caldo de camaron. The flavor of the caldo is bland and they put potato in the soup to make up for the lack of shrimp. That thing cost $15 and you don't even get that much, totally not worth it. I generally come here when I am working in South Phoenix in the mid day. It's a decent place for meetings. The owners are often on site. The prices are great. Heard so much about this place and finally ate here for my first time. It's very clean and surprisingly well taken care of. Great authentic food and the steak is absolutely delicious. Located in a busy strip mall (as a detached building) in a busy stretch of South Central Avenue near Broadway, it was recommended by a Mexican friend who described it as being "closest to Mexican home cooking as it can get, for a restaurant." I enjoyed eating in this place because it is spacious for its size, a large illustrated menu hovers over the counter, the prices are low, the food is savory - the vinegar, cilantro, and other seasonings stand out without being overpowering - and they have great flan! Man iv been coming here for about 11 years it was recommended to me from locals when I moved here it was so good carne asada had its own unique taste I loved it but this past year and half it just haven't been the. Same but I still go hoping it will be like its been but it just keeps disappointing .drive thru is 15 to 20 min wait plus I just came from there I didn't mind the wait but when I get home and my bean cheese burrito it's fallen apart and they added so much salt icouldnt eat it .i bought two one for me and one for my son it was not eatable .they eather forget an item or food is so salty or the wait is long or its fallen apart the staff is just unprofessional the cook needs to be retrained so I don't recommend u wast ur time or one of this complaints will happen to u I bet on it I won't be going back until they tighting up. read more

This would easily be a 5 star rating if I just ordered the tacos when I come here But my favorite is their burrito de lengua. Sadly the flavor/ingredients/quality of that particular burrito varies greatly with it not being as delicious as I remember it most times. I have been going to this place for years and never wrote a review. Their food is very delicious, tasteful, well proportioned. We love going there to get there Carne Asada burritos. we also have them cater Barbacoa rice and beans for our wedding and everyone was super happy and even had seconds. We use El Tacazo to cater our important events, including the Sunday lunch following our wedding for all of our out of town guests, family and close friends. Walked in and was hit with the smell of bleach..well at least the place is clean, I thought. Looked over the menu. Ordered 3 asada tacos, large horchata, asked if I wanted jalapeno I said sure thinking they were free..no they are 50 cents extra-whatever. Took my receipt, sat down and waited 5 minutes they called my number, tacos were the tiny double tortilla variety. The meat was nice and tender, well seasoned. The baggie of jalapenos had two big pickled peppers, two lemon wedges and a few sliced carrots. I asked for salsa on the side. The horchata was delicious. The tacos were good, topped with onions and cilantro. As I was eating a really great song I love came on so I guess the ambiance was ok too. Good food, good service.
