If there was a way to give them less than one star, I would. My wife and I wanted Mexican for our date night and decided to give this place a try. HUGE mistake. We spent $40 on the crappiest Mexican food I've had in a long time. It literally was Taco Bell quality (Taco Bell might be better) at nice restaurant prices. The salsa is disgusting. It tastes like spicy ketchup. The Spanish rice is a big mushy glob and tastes awful. The shredded beef in the taco tastes like it came out of a can. The fish taco was dry and no sauce. read more

I ordered a taco plate. Received a huge plate of rice, one taco, a salad, and refried beans. Our appetizer was chips and chili con queso. The rice tasted exactly like plain white rice with ketchup. Absolutely bland. I could see 6 other peoples plates from where I was sitting and it appeared that no one took more than a few bites of it. The taco was a hard shelled taco. The shell was either purchased in bulk from the grocery story or they actually bought the entire taco from Taco Bell as this is exactly what it tasted like. The salad was shredded lettuce...not much to rant nor rave about. The refried beans were bland and I thanked the food god's that shredded cheese was put on top of them to mask the flavor. The worst part, and I mean the most worst thing ever was the queso. We received sour cream with shredded cheese melted into it, with diced tomatoes. Who?...What? This was so bad, I took a few bites of everything and left the rest. Floors were dirty and staff was too young to really have any food service experience. Previous yelpers love the salsa...it is obviously not homemade either. Additionally, I have lived in Texas, California, and in New Mexico (among other states, but I wanted to mention the SW states) and have visited restaurants in Arizona. Tomato paste salsa with chips while we were waiting to order gave me a bad feeling. We asked for fresh salsa which was promptly brought out and tasted fine. I ordered fish tacos and my wife the nachos. Her's was very average and mine was sub-par. This is your typical Mexican restaurant with fresh staple ingredients. Unfortunately, that's it. No real flavor. I wish some of these places would take a lesson from Costa Vida and really work to perfect each dish. I'd actually prefer a more authentic Mexican meal from a place like El Sol, but having lived in Mexico, I can tell you that they aren't trying real hard. The food was so bad that a couple days later (today), I don't even remember what I ate. The pricing of most of their menu items was average/slightly expensive. Yummy! I've been here so many times. I LOVE the chips and salsa, I don't know what those other reviewers are thinking! The salsa is delicious. The food is all delicious. Everything I have tasted is super yummy. Yeah, it is Americanized and bland compared to authentic Mexican cuisine, but that's what I like! It's still yummy and the sauces are delicious! Very disappointing. I had a burrito with barely passable beans (lots of melted cheese on top was the only saving grace) and undercooked and flavorless rice. The shredded beef in the burrito was super dry and salty, with no other flavor. No sour cream or guacamole unless you pay extra (which I should have to try and salvage my meal). The salsa is a joke-- it's literally tomato sauce from a can that's been slightly seasoned. No chunks of tomato, cilantro, jalapeños, nothing. It was more like bland bad pizza sauce. Service was ok, but not particularly friendly. I had to ask for a knife because they don't have them set on the table by default. El Sol is absolutely the weak link of the Mexican restaurants in Logan. Skip it. read more

First the salsa was like they took a jar of tomato paste and added spices. I had the burrito and rice and beans. The beans tasted like they came from a jar and heated up before being served. This place was HORRIBLE. I'm giving it one star for the free chips. The chips were actually really good but everything else was straight out of the Taco Bell dumpster. I don't know what kind of "salsa" they think they are supplying but it tasted like ketchup with a little tabasco sauce. My rice wasn't even warm and didn't look fresh at all. It looked like they just kinda threw my enchilada and taco on the plate with the beans and rice and then covered it in sauce. It was very bland and plain. Pretty on the outside.
