I ordered the "Catira" arepa which mixes chicken and yellow shredded cheese, and the filling was pretty consistent, as well as the chicken was freshly prepared. My friends opted for a Pabellón Arepa which consists of sweet fried plantain, beans, and pulled-seasoned meat. What I failed to do was order food appropriate for this restaurant.y Because it was a Saturday night, I ordered the big family platter (waiter highly recommended) which had all the proteins and then some. However the served French fries were cold, lettuce black, tomatoes green and the plates they provided were coffee saucers. At best, almost everything on that place was mediocre and mostly non-traditional. So if you go there, go what the place is famous for. Try the traditional arepas, maybe some Tequeos, Cachapas, Patacones, and I do not know what else. Maybe even try the breakfast...but only if it is not served on a coffee saucer. They were serving this seafood soup for free as a first course and it was honestly extremely delicious - plenty of ingredients and super flavorful. Crazy work. asked for a refund and no food after 40 and they said "it's ready" proceeded to wait another 10 min for this food. I was in a hurry so I ordered to go, I saw at least 15 to go orders get placed and fulfilled before I even was approached about "what was your order again?" made me upset not gonna lie, especially since id tipped well when I placed the order 50 min prior. They seemed to be so uncaring to the point my Hispanic friend genuinely thought it was a race thing since I'm just a white girl... I didn't take Spanish in HS sue me. This little spot is located on NE 2nd Ave across the street from my office in the DuPont Building. A very unassuming store front, El Sitio fits right into the downtown atmosphere. But El Sitio also brings a different flavor amongst the myriad of Cuban and Peruvian cafes littered across the landscape. The menu is a nice size and balanced with items for those on the go or for those who just want to sit (yes, sitting will return) and chill for a bit. They make some of the best coffee in town. You have much to choose from at El Sitio; Burgers, Pepitos, Arepas, Ensaladas, Empanada and Cachapas among other delicious offerings. The Empanadas are great although they can be a little bit oily at times. You may choose from cheese, beef (shredded/ground) cheese/gauva, chicken, cheese/plantano, ham/cheese, fish and a few more I can't remember. My favorites are fish, chicken and ham/cheese. They also have some of the best Cachapas I've ever had. If you've had one before you understand the deliciousness of the Cachapa. I remember the first time I had one, it reminded me of something my grandmother used to make in Alabama. In hindsight, grandma had more of a storied life than any of us knew. El Sitio has a wonderful staff who are efficient courteous. Stop by grab a cup of coffee and a little something else for yourself. You deserve it! read more

It's a ñn excellent Venezuelan Coffee bar with all your favorite Venezuelan bites. You can't go wrong with anything from the menu. I specifically came for the empanadas de carne mechada. Uffff them things are so fire. The cheese ones as well. The chicharrónes are huge and cooked to perfection. They serve breakfast as well, which is also really fire.
