Come Mother's Day and I am not a fan of going out on the actual day, but I did remember this place. We made a Saturday reservation, picked up my son from work, and headed over here. SO WORTH IT! I thought the spot was adorable and clearly well loved by locals and their own staff. You really get the feeling that all that work there really love the place. I like the menu items are not the "usual suspects" I see at most Tapas places, which are good but sometimes you want to shake things up. We got: Bolas de queso Patatas Aioli Croquetas De Jamon Croquetas De Verduras Solomillo De Ternera y Queso Cabrales Calamares Fritos Tabla de Quesos Pisto Manchego Albondigas De Cordero Iberico Peras Borrachas Torta De Chocolate All the menu items were flavorful and enjoyable. I think my favorite was the Croquetas De Jamon, if I had to choose just one item. We also decided to get two desserts - a pear dessert which seems to be their signature dish and the chocolate tort. While the pear was lovely, I was really in the mood for something chocolate so I enjoyed it more (but honestly cannot go wrong with either).

A few street parking spots but it's across from a lot so it wasn't hard to get a spot. 6:30 on a Friday but we were easy able to get a table for 2. The place was fairly busy with multiple parties of 6 but service was speedy. Right away we had water and mocktails on our table. I tried the hibiscus Havana and it was great. Super refreshing and light. It tastes of ginger beer and hibiscus with lime. The not so great tapas we had was the mushroom strudel. The texture was pasty and it tasted like dirt and oysters. It's probably just us but we did not like it at all. The other one that was just ok was the croquetas. They taste pretty good but the filling is quite pasty. We did order the patatas bravas which came out undercooked and we sent them back. Now the good...we had the pan con tomate, always a staple and it didn't disappoint. Fresh tomato with olive oil on a crispy baguette. The Chicken empanadas are so flavorful and the sauce is awesome. The star of the night though was churrasquito, short rib steak, with chimichurri. It was divine. Would defiantly go back and get that again. Overall survive is so quick and friendly. There was live music which was nice and an easy in and out experience

Every 5-10 minutes a new dish would arrive, which made the whole meal feel like a fun, festive experience. No long waits, no awkward gaps, just great food flowing steadily to the table. The Pan de Casa and Albondigas were the clear crowd favorites. My parents are in their 60s and adventurous eaters, and they were absolutely blown away. My dad couldn't stop raving about the meatballs! A huge shoutout to Kayla, our server, who was attentive, warm, and made the whole evening feel special. Sunday is a great night to go, relaxed vibe, great service, and the kitchen is clearly on point. T'ahpas 529 is a gem in Melrose. We will absolutely be back!

That's exactly what Matador delivers, especially if you are the carnivorous type. I really enjoyed sitting at the bar top affording me a clear view of the exhibition kitchen and the open wood fire pit. The radiant heat was especially terrific on a cold winters night. I opted for the hangar steak which was perfectly cooked medium rare. A dollop of compound butter seamlessly coated the meat and formed a wonderful complement to the meat. The accompanying fries were freshly made, tossed in herbs and cheese and was a great counter texture to the tender meat. The chefs take obvious care in their craft and it shows (and tastes). They will take your order until 10:30p most nights - don't miss it especially if you're a guest at the Hilton!

Firstly, many items were overcooked, including the octopus/pulpo and hangar steak. The flavor was great for both but the tentacle had gotten a tiny bit rubbery and steak was more well done than I liked. Eggplant tapa was great. I loved the lamb empanada. Paella was standard. Not too much seafood flavor and I thought the pieces of chicken seemed to not fit with the rest of the dish but rice was very well prepared. We really didn't enjoy the tuna on toast and the gambas (shrimp). Overall, some dishes were good but could be better while some were not to my liking. We were seated outside but staff were attentive. That may be the way they're supposed to be served here but I didn't like that part. The service was super friendly and the food was brought out quickly. I loved that the staff were all wearing Spain jerseys to celebrate the World Cup win! One last thing I didn't like: there's a QR code at your table to pay your bill on your phone which is convenient, but they tack on a sneaky $2 platform fee if you use it, and it takes some extra effort to have your server actually bring you the bill to avoid that. Two bucks isn't a big deal but it's the principle! I'd rather put that amount towards the tip.

This time around we were truly dissatisfied with the quality of our main dish, a Paella de Marsicos (Seafood paella). By the recommendation of our server, we had the smaller size which was supposed to serve two people, that is my wife and I. The rice on the paella was burnt, there were only two mid size shrimp and a very few of the other "mariscos" that are normally part of a Seafood Paella. Service was OK. Servers seemed to be in a rush to get us out ASAP. They tried to take our plates away even before we finish eating. They were not rude, just pushy. We were presented with our bill even before we finshed drinking our glass of wine. Place is great, atmosphere is very good but since we have had real paella both at another places and even homemade, maybe our expectations were much higher than what we got.
