Wedding Anniversary Brunch at Box St. All Day…read more Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary with brunch at Box St. All Day. After previewing the restaurant the evening before, we knew we had to try the Eggs Benedict with added chicken, chilaquiles with shredded pork, and twice-fried chicken. We arrived shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday and were welcomed by our hostess, who let us choose our seats. Our waiter, Richard, introduced himself and when we mentioned our anniversary, he returned with two complimentary glasses of champagne garnished with gold-flecked raspberries! His genuine congratulations immediately made us feel special. He also shared menu recommendations and helped us choose our drinks: a Moscato for me and a refreshing raspberry drink for my husband. The restaurant's lively atmosphere, soft boho-inspired decor, and beautiful presentation were perfect for a warm fall afternoon. Our food arrived quickly, and everything was delicious. The twice-fried chicken was our favorite, with the chilaquiles a close second! Each dish looked as good as it tasted. Richard truly made the experience memorable. He checked on us regularly without being intrusive and made sure we felt celebrated throughout the meal. We were so impressed that we asked to speak with his supervisor, Spencer, to share our appreciation. Spencer was grateful for the feedback, and it was wonderful to see him helping the team deliver dishes to customers, a reflection of the restaurant's strong leadership and culture. Richard also noticed my military identification when I presented my credit card. Although I had forgotten to ask about the military discount, he took the initiative to verify my eligibility and apply it. As a retired Army veteran, I deeply appreciated the thoughtful gesture. Box St. All Day, you have something special here! The food, atmosphere, and exceptional service made our first wedding anniversary brunch one we will cherish. Thank you to Richard and Spencer for making us feel so appreciated and welcome. We will definitely be returning!

I am not a big fan of pork but the server at the bar described them so deliciously, I just had to try it. Well, it is a winner! I actually ended up eating all 5 tacos! The avocado that came with it was super fresh and the salsa hit the spot. I had a dark mocha latte with oat milk and it was also pretty tasty. Overall I will definitely be back and I recommend it. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and didn't make us feel rushed at all. The decor is really cute too, with an antique, old-school vibe. Now, the most memorable thing? Their ROOT BEER! It's made in-house with unlimited refills, and honestly, SO GOOD. Refreshing, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Definitely a must-try! For the food, we got the Reuben sandwich and a few different wursts, which were all good! The portions were pretty generous, and since this was my first time trying German food, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The soup was a little too tangy for my liking, though. Overall, a really nice experience! Good food, great service, and that root beer alone is worth mentioning. Definitely a nice stop if you're looking to try German food for the first time!

My mom was happy with her Shrimp and Grits, and my husband also enjoyed his Cajun Chilaquiles. Our kids were able to share their kids pancake since it was their pretty big. Our server Mayeli was so helpful and accommodating. I also appreciate that we got to order a side of potatoes without the seasoning for the kids to enjoy while waiting for our food, but to be honest, our food arrived very quickly. My daughter also enjoyed looking at the art around the restaurant. It kept her busy for a while in between coloring her kids menu sheet. Overall another great experience at NOLA, and it's definitely one of our favorite brunch places in the city.

Nearly two years later and I finally, FINALLY got to visit NOLA in person - and boy, what a treat!!…read more My friend and I met up here for our quarterly Millennial Bruch and we were right on the money with this pick. Compared to my previous experience with DoorDash, eating here in person makes a world of difference, ESPECIALLY with the beignets. When they're fresh, they're the most incredible thing in the world, I swear. I ordered the cortado (because my mission is to taste every cortado in the city) and their brunch plate - it had scrambled (seasoned!) eggs, delicious grits, two fried green tomato slices, and the most insanely delicious and decadent praline bacon. I also ordered the beignets. My friend ordered their take on the eggs Benedict and a cup of the smoked duck gumbo. We each got to try a little bit of each other's dishes and I just can't believe how insanely flavorful it all was. I had a little bit of the gumbo get into my eggs and it was divine. The grits were my favorite grits I've ever had. The bacon tasted more like a dessert. The beignets were so soft, so light, so pillowy. DoorDash delivery does them such a disservice. This is a spot you need to experience in person in order to 'get it.' I can't wait to come back. I think we have a winner to add to our regular brunch rotation.

As part of our wedding package, they were incredibly generous and included two complimentary nights at the hotel and dinner at Dorrego's for us to celebrate. They are truly the absolute best at what they do and really know how to celebrate their guests! Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The environment is exceptional, the service is always outstanding, and even their gorgeous signature scent instantly brings us back to memories of love, celebration, and adventure. Every little detail feels intentional and memorable. I am so incredibly thankful that we chose Hotel Valencia as the place to celebrate both our wedding and our first anniversary. It will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait to return again and make even more memories there. Thank you, Hotel Valencia, for helping make two of the most meaningful celebrations of our lives absolutely unforgettable!

A Wonderful Stay at Hotel Valencia!…read more We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Valencia on the San Antonio River Walk! The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and exceptional service. We would definitely stay here again when we're back in San Antonio!
