Menudo, burritos, flautas, caldos, all good. Takeout is quick, the people are friendly.

Friendly service but the food and portion for the price is very questionable. Restaurants need to make sure they make good impressions especially in this economy. I dont think i will be coming back to this place. Spent 17$ for the food in the pics.

Wow...Tucked in a small, strip mall next to Vons, we found this gem or a restaurant. I always see it when I park when I go to Vons or the Dollar Store, but never stopped in to try it. I realized I have been wasting time and money on other Mexican restaurants... El Ruby is great on all levels. Great Service. Great Value. Menu with many offerings. Free chips and salsa! Pictures are one thing but the taste is phenomenal! I got the carnitas wet burrito and my wife got the taco platter. With a side of radish, deep fried jalapeños and lemon wedges...You couldn't ask for anything more! Even beer for $3.99 a bottle! If there is anything about my visit that I was not fond of was the taste of the refried beans. Maybe it was just me, but they didn't taste like traditional beans cooked in lard. They reminded me of vegetarian beans. Not to say that it is a bad thing, just not my cup of tea. Ambiance 9/10 Service 10/10 Food 9/10 Bathrooms 8/10 Cleanliness 9/10 Value 10/10 Will I Return? I'm so glad I found this place on yelp! Was craving chilaquiles verdes so headed over after placing an order online. Pickup was super easy and the people working there were very friendly! If u have the time it seems like a very nice place to dine in at, their menu options are really good! Chilaquiles are usually hit or miss but this place was amazing! Beans were so good, rice was so good, Egg was cooked perfectly runny, and chilaquiles were yummy! I do wish that the chips were a little more crunchier but that's what I get for ordering ahead of time. I also feel like there was some sort of flavoring lacking but u couldn't figure out what it was, maybe spice?? Regardless I would try it again!

Yummy chips and salsa, salsa was perfectly seasoned, lightly spicy, and perfect!

I was so happy El Ruby Cafe was open on Christmas Day. My brother and I wanted to take my mom out for lunch on Christmas and out of everything she could have picked she wanted Mexican. Mexican is my favorite so I had no complaints. But what Mexican place will be open on Christmas day? And she wanted to go somewhere in Glendale near forest lawn law where my father is buried. I called several places and no one answered. I was planning on giving up and want to convince my mom to pick another type of food. So then I saw El Ruby Cafe, took a chance and gave them a call, they answered quickly and said yes they are open. My brother and I met my mom at the restaurant. small little hole in the wall family owned which I completely love. Crowded, with lots of friendly faces and mouthwatering smells. I ordered Menudo, my brother ordered Caldo De Res and my mom beef enchilada's. Ssssooo delicious!! The Menudo was full of flavor, good pieces of tripe and tendon. Love it with the oregano, onion, cilantro and chili flakes. My brother enjoyed his Caldo de Res, lots of vegetables and really good rib meat. My mom loved her beef enchiladas. Lots of perfectly seasoned beef. I know for sure when me and my friends are in Glendale, we will make a beeline to El Ruby Cafe.

My party of seven had reservations for a Friday night and were seated right away. The chips were…read morecomplimentary, but beware that the guacamole is so tax. It was still good and the presentation was honestly very artistic. As it darkened outside, the overhead lights dimmed inside the restaurant and their colored lights grew stronger! We ordered several frozen margaritas and they were generous sizes for a decent price, but were very melted by the time they were served. They were also a bit bland: not very tart, sweet, or strong. I shared a plate of the flautas (two steak / two chicken) and three chicken enchiladas, which both came with rice and beans. Everything was made well and the flautas were super crunchy, so that was a huge plus! It was enough to have plenty of leftovers if you're not too hungry. We were celebrating a graduation and didn't know there was a cake holding fee of $15, which I personally feel is on the pricier end. The food service was a bit slow, but we all got our food around the same time. Our servers were also very attentive and accommodating. It's genuinely a nice place to have dinner if you're at the Americana at Brand.

Ok. Don't let those good drinks you got at the bar that one time fool you. I should have "listened"…read moreto all those other reviews. The food is not good. There was little to no seasoning. The food came out tepid at best and then left a greasy taste in your mouth. The flautas were weirdly covered by excess shredded lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream (to cover up the ridiculously thick tortillas covering the tasteless meats inside, no doubt). The carnitas were lacking in flavor. The drinks bought to the table lacked the flare (and the flavor) of those we had at the bar. The space itself, is weirdly expansive. The mirrored ceiling makes the empty coldness even worse. Top tip, don't go and wait for a table - any table - anywhere else at the Americana.
