First trip to this El Rodeo. It might be my last. Server did not bring Salsa & Tortillas while we waited for our food. My wife liked her Margarita but my draft Dos Equis was flat. Either that or it has been a long time since the tap & lines were cleaned. I had the Fajitas Texanas. It was very over cooked and chewy. Wife liked her Fajitas Picantes. We enjoyed our meal, had great service, and paid a fair price. Stopped here with the 'rents when they visited from Texas. Chips were warm and crispy, salsa was delicious, and beer was frosty--definitely an auspicious start. I had the Fajita Texanas, which were pretty good and Dad clearly enjoyed his Beef enchilada plate. Mom had a Chile Relleno that was weird. Horrible service. Rude waiter. Got sick from the food. I was not told the seafood was imitation. The manager showed no compassion after seeing me sick at the table. Now my son is sick as well!!!. I paid for 1 meal and the drinks but she didn't offer. I had to tell her. After thinking about it, I shouldn't have had to pay for anything considering her staff didn't inform me the seafood was imitation as she said he's suppose to do. My wife and I have been to El rodeo twice in the last few months. The service is always prompt and the food is always good. They give very large proportion's and often times we wind up taking food home. We both very much enjoyed the fajitas. She gets the vegetarian fajitas while I get the steak. She likes our rodeo because they're able to swap out things like the refried beans for black beans, no questions asked. The food is very reasonably priced, the two of us can eat there for less than $30. This is probably one of the best Mexican places in the area. read more

I wish I could give this sorry excuse of a restaurant half a star for the terrible experience I had. So, you know, we were treating this nice little couple out for dinner. They chose El Rodeo which was right next to flippin Five Guys (which is great)! WE COULD HAVE GONE TO THE BEST BURGER PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!! But NOOOOOOO, we had to go to El Rodeo. Which I thought was gonna be fine, hey they were choosing, I respect that. Of course it's not fine that we had to go to Lowe's right after that for 2 HOURS! Ugh! But that's beside the point. So we go in and there are these old candy machines with decent enough candy for 1$ a piece. How expensive is this candy that one starburst is more than a Starbucks drink on happy hour!!!!!!! Anyway is took a cot-pickitin of a time to get our table, which we then had to split up because their employees weren't stronk enough to pull together two tables. So me and my brother had to sit in the window with a view of Five Guys. Stop taunting me!!! So after ages and ages and ages we get to order our food and drinks, thats how they did it there, and our waiter, Miguel, was practically treating us like children. We are 36 and 37! Come on, I know I've aged well but seriously!?!?! Then we fast forward a little bit of pain and peril to when we get food. I had ordered a burrito and said no beans but what did they give me BEANS!!!! NO beans please. They were soggy and gross and cold. Blah. My burrito was meh and we didn't even stay for dessert. First, I only write reviews when necessary. Second, I'm not one of those annoying yelpers. The food was good. The service was awful. It was just my sister and I and we interacted with 4 different employees and ALL were rude. No one could even be bother to say hi or as much as how are you. Our server, Adriana, couldn't be more bothered to wait on us. Mind you, it was not busy at all, it was dead there. We got a few things wrong with our order including ordering guacamole that she forgot about because i had to remind her after our entrees already came out, then we were asked if we needed chips with it... um yea it's a god damn dip. We had to ask for stuff constantly because she would stop by the table (not even asking how things were) and we could only say one thing before she ran off. I just can't stand bad customer service, I literally don't care if you've had a bad day, you are supposed to forget that at the door-that's what I've had to do at every job where I've had to give customer service. And I doubt every single person we had interaction with had a bad day. Must be nice to work somewhere where customer service doesn't matter. We only tipped a little under but don't expect anything when you think you can treat people however you want. I want to preface this with El Rodeo was my go-to place for cheap eats in the York Area. We would be driving through at odd times (3:00 on a Sunday) and it would be open. Yes, its Americanize-Mexican, but the food had been tasty, service has always been great, margaritas yummy and you can get in and out very quickly. It had been a few months but we were there this past weekend and I ordered my normal: Cheese Enchiladas with Verde Sauce. I take a bite and taste...American Cheese. I tell my server, "this was really bad, it taste like an American Grilled Cheese." I was expecting Chihuahua, Cotija, maybe some Queso Fresco. The server replies "Yup! We only use American cheese.". I look around, I see pinata's and sombreros hanging for the ceiling, the token Dos Equis flags...yes, this should be a Mexican restaurant. American Cheese in enchilada's and burritos? Who does that?!!?!? To give the server credit she took my meal off the check (and again, the service there is super). I would pay more for the real thing, why would the management decide to offer a sub par product? Sad times...I really liked this place. read more

This Place sucks! Me and my kids drove n hr to take my husband to celebrate fathers day! well when I called and asked if they dined in yet they said yea but never once mentioned about entering with masks! well my children didnt have a mask but a nice cpl gave us 3 to help out! Well the 2 work ladies came out and wanted to dine us outside and right in the sun even after we told them we had masks! And their attitude sucked so bad so we got up and walked away and went to Fiesta mexico and there the service was excellent and we will be going there from now on! Maybe I was there on a bad night, I don't know. But my fajitas wre the worst I have ever had and it took 10 minutes to get my drink. My wife didn't like her Chimichangas at all. My oldest boy said his Beef Burrito tasted bad and wouldn't eat it. I said, "How can you screw up a burrito?". I tried it and it was horrible. Fajitas Texanas is my go to at any El Rodeo location. The beef is always seasoned well, the peppers and onions cooked perfectly, and the skillet comes out sizzling with a lemon on top. I make a point of stopping in to the El Rodeo in York whenever I'm back home. I live in San Francisco now, and have had the whole authentic Mexican experience sesos taco and all. It's tasty and different, but I grade american mex as a separate category (much like Americanized Chinese food), and El Rodeo heads up that particular category. Fast service, always yummy. read more

WHY? Why is this rated above 2 star? The food was bland and the service was terrible. I've never eaten something covered in cheese taste so bleh before. Even Taco Bell has more of a taste than this stuff. Worse than that... the service is awful. Granted I don't think the servers speak much English, but that's not an excuse for being rude. Our plates were literally tossed onto the table like a poker dealer would pass out playing cards. When we went to collect tossed plates, we burned our hands because they were so hot. When we turned to say something to the waiter, he was already gone, not to return. There must not be any decent food in York for this to have been rated so high. Went @ 830 on May 5th no room at the bar , it was very small staff seemed tired which is quite understandable on there version of super Sunday. After a 22 min wait we were seated in a nice comfortable booth. We were Promptly seen by the Dealer with fresh chips and salsa and our drink order was taken. We are from Arizona and know good Mexican food from bad. My wife said the shrimp quesadilla was the best she's ever had. The shrimp was sweet and tender, the vegetables were grilled perfectly to compliment, and the cheese was creamy. My shrimp enchiladas were just as delicious. This place is a winner! read more

Don't go to this restaurant. My husband and I ate there for the first time a few weeks ago. The food was terrible and the service was the worst. All of the staff was rude to us. The person that showed us to a table threw the menus on the table and walked away, never said a word. Someone else came a took our drink order and a third person took our order. The waiter was rude to us and once the food was delivered they never came back to the table. I had to flag them down to get a refill on my drink. We have never been treated so terrible. The place is dirty. Dust everywhere and the furniture needs replacing. The rest room was disgusting. Too terrible to give details. The food is nothing special. It's decent Mexican with good portions and good prices. The service I experienced tonight left much to be desired. Drinks were not refilled, empty cups and plates were just left sitting, I never got the guacamole I ordered with my entree (and the server was nowhere to be found) and even though we asked for separate checks at the very beginning of the meal, the server messed up and charged some of us for other people's foods.
