The carne asada plate was juicy and very tasty, but I realized that carne asada is too tough to eat as a fork-and-knife steak. It's better shredded in a taco or burrito. Two words- REAL avocado. If you've been to other restaurants in the rural desert SW in the past…read morefive years or so, you know why I started with that seemingly simple statement. My husband and I tried this taco cart (a distinctive black food truck located on the D Ave side of Castro Park between 9th and 10th Streets) for the first time today. It was easily the best food we've had in Douglas, and we were blown away! So fresh and generous with both the meat and the toppings. The owner's salsa is also top notch, spicy but very edible even in quantity. The pricing was very good, particularly including all the fresh tomato and avocado slices. We tried two types of tacos, the tostada, and this fantastic loaded type of quesadilla. It was like a quesadilla on steroids (it was more like the type I make at home, packed full of meat and vegetables). My hisband also had yummy curly fries. The cook gave excellent service and he helped us pick a couple dishes when he saw we were new. The ingredients are in Spanish, so this was very helpful. The lettuce and other veggies were very fresh and had no taste of cleaners or disinfectant (like soap, etc) that we have run into at other Douglas restaurants. That comment may sound strange, but we've encountered it more than once at other establishments. We are looking forward to trying everything on the menu! This taco cart would be a hit in any city. If you are used to the desert SW customer ratings, you may have noticed a lot of people rate VERY generously. I think it's the lack of options, sort of rating-by-comparison, "grading on a curve" effect. This taco cart is a real 5 star, an LA or Seattle 5-star.

Best burrito anywhere with all of my favorite things and I don't have to ask them to hold anything! The Bobbie is stuffed with chicken, perfectly sized chunks of tender steak, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole AND green Chilies! It is so tender and flavorful it melts in your mouth. I indulge whenever I'm in Douglas for work. Unfortunately I've never strayed from ordering the Bobbie so I can't speak to the other items. However, I am witness to some delicious looking soups which change daily. The chips, RF beans and salsa all top in flavor. Don't miss this restaurant. These ladies do it right! The machaca that my wife got looked good and I saw another table with a good looking bowl of menudo. Unfortunately, my bacon had a funny smell as though it might have been cooked on a grill with something else or worse a griddle that had not been cleaned in a while. It's funny because when I asked about the 2 item burrito specifically if that included the egg, the waitress told me yes but those were not the right prices. They have gone up. Thought that was kind of odd thing to say. Ever notices those menus that all the prices have stickers because they didn't want to reprint them.
