Mexican food! Finally! Yes! So my hometown is Zacatecas, Mexico and I couldn't believe there was a restaurant in New Hampshire named after my hometown! So of course I had to try it! The restaurant is super cute and quaint with a nice bar. They have a huge margarita menu which is overwhelming so I had to ask which one was the most popular one and got that one. The menu looked good but I was really craving tacos so I order some tacos Al Pastor which came with a side of beans and rice. My boyfriend got one of their meat platters which also looked good. The tacos were very good! The tortillas especially stood out because they tasted legit! The rice and beans also tasted authentic so I was very satisfied with my choice. My boyfriends meat dish was very tasty and he was kind enough to share a few bites. My margarita was huge and tasted very strong but I was ok with that. Great service, cozy seats, convenient to the SNHU center. We arrived early to find a sticky table and dirty floor. We ordered a horchata which tasted like it was from a mix. The tacos borrachos were decent and they were generous with the portion. The bistec meat quality was poor. The meat was hard and dry. We left most of it over. Their chips are good but the salsa is boring. No spice!! Their "hot" house sauce, by request only, is terrible and they don't have any other hot sauces to choose from. Came here around an hour before closing on a Friday night, it was fully packed!! Seems like a popular place and was lively. I almost wished we had eaten in but bringing it to the hotel and ordering take out was what we needed after a long day. We ordered three fully meals, a couple guacs on the side, and a few empanadas. In total it cost 70$ with a tip. The beef empanada was delicious! The food was all good, not authentic Mexican food but definitely did the trick since we were so tired and hungry. The only reason I took off a star was because I had thought the food would automatically come with chips and salsa. Was a little disappointed when we opened the box, that we did have any chips especially for the cost and tip we left. Great Mexican in downtown Manchester! Searching yelp and noticed that El Rincon featured a mole enchilada dish. I had to try it. The enchiladas were good and would have been a 5 star review but needed some more mole sauce. Luckily I had asked for additional Also ordered side of flour tortillas. We've now been here a multiple times, and it is consistently outstanding. The food is authentic, you couldn't get homemade family style Mexican food growing up in NH. We lived in NM a year and ate tons of Mexican, New Mexican, and Baja style foods all the time. This last time we came for Margaritas and a snack before my mom received an award across the street. The service is on point and friendly. So many restaurants have gone downhill the last 3 years, but many have excelled-great job! Another time we took my mother in law here on the way back from an airport run to pick us up. She loved the empanadas, and guacamole we do too, they also have excellent enchiladas, and the Al Pastor is delicious, and had them on nachos last time. I would say most everything is delicious. We decided to try this place because of the reviews and from the outside, we were unsure what it would be like. However, upon entering, we were welcomed into a cozy restaurant with beautiful decor and pleasant servers. We immediately were sat down with warm chips and fresh salsa. Having heard about the spicy salsa, I asked for it and it actually packed a punch! I have a pretty high spice tolerance and never feel the heat from most restaurants' spiciest salsas, but this one very pleasantly surprised me! Highly recommend if you like spicy food. The beans and the rice were so delicious. I kept going back for more even after getting full. The enchiladas were scrumptious as well. They were so accommodating for our vegetarian diet, and it was a delight to have more than cheese in the vegetarian enchiladas. The veggies inside were fresh and crunchy. The churros were warm, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside and they were perfect with the chocolate. Finally, Brenda was the sweetest!! What a genuinely warm and kind person. In this case, El Rincon features the cuisine of Zacatecas, a state in Mexico whose culinary tradition I knew little about. I was drawn to the enchiladas with molito sauce - the menu waxes poetic about the sauce, which lives up to the hype. It's warm, spicy and complex, and every bite was terrific. We went here on the recommendation of our local paper. The restaurant is located in downtown Manchester. Parking was easy as there was lots of street parking The restaurant is small but nice. The service was great and the food was very good. It felt like home cooking. However the restaurant was very noisy for only having 20 people in it at the time. I mean really noisy where you couldn't hear yourself think. I think it might have poor acoustics. We would go back but the next time might be takeout! read more

Ultra fresh vegetables grilled to perfection and served piping hot, with good quality beans and rice. Radish, lime, and delish green salsa rounded out the flavors nicely. Just needed a little salt and pepper. I asked if salt and pepper packs had been included in my takeout bag and was told yes, but turns out there weren't any. Almost 7 years later, and 20 years of living in this state, I wanted to update this review as we prepare to move away. El Rincon has only continued to be amazing. It has been so wonderful seeing them grow and continue to provide amazing food with such a kind spirit. We also loved their new place Alas de Frida, but El Rincon will always be my first love :) The menu has expanded greatly since my original review, and unless there is a big event or something their service is very fast. There's nothing there that isn't good. Some standouts are the tacos, chimichangas (shrimp!), guac, queso (get the chorizo with it) and... well everything. I also have to call out the salsa. My wife and I enjoy cooking, and on nights when we want to prepare Mexican, we still go to El Rincon just to get the chips and salsa (and usually some guac and queso). I could drink their salsa... it is absolutely incredible. The drinks are also always good, and everyone is so friendly. I've never had a bad experience... heck, I've never had anything but wonderful experiences. We will miss you El Rincon - you are on our list to visit when we are in town :) read more

I'm writing this review to highlight two specific dishes here at El Rincon....I'd probably go 4/5 overall stars. But the empanadas and salsa specifically are an easy 5/5. First. The empanadas are what we keep coming back and back and back for. EXCELLENT. We get beef. They have cheese in them, red pepper flake, bell pepper, and various other seasonings. So good. I'd recommend them to anyone. They are freshly fried, hot and crunchy on the exterior. Second. The standard issue chips and salsa. The salsa is SO GOOD. It's extremely fresh, it's not overly acidic, and it's got perrrrfect heat. Today we just got chips, empanadas, and a kids burrito with steak. It's my first time staying in Manchester and I wanted to support a local Latino owned restaurant. It was 1:30p on a weekday, after the lunch rush, so I had the place to myself. Service was welcoming and efficient, like visiting a friend's house. Decor is basic, nothing elaborate but very clean. The salsa was much spicier than I expect in New England, but I loved it. We went on a Tuesday night and didn't have to wait to be seated. It is a small establishment so my guess is it can fill up quickly on busy nights . We were served chips and salsa, yum! Stopped in here again this past weekend! So glad we did. I have been craving real Mexican flavors since all this covid19 began. I ordered the enchiladas, chicken, with the red sauce at the suggestion of our waitress. They were amazing! I ate a three of them plus all the beans and rice. Yeah, I struggled on those last few bites, but these were so flavorful! Not all covered with that fake sauce and filled with mystery meat, but just authentic flavors with the perfect balance of cheese and veg on top. Soooo good! Hubs had a chorizo burrito. What a win. It doesn't look like much from the outside and it claims it's a taqueria. But there's plenty of street parking around the block (a minute walk) and it's a full on ristorante. Very wide selection of entrees, soup/stews, sides, beverages, etc. And, most importantly - autentico! After a few decades living in California and visiting Arizona and Texas, we're very acquainted with quality Mexican cuisine. El Rincon delivers. The chips are thin, crisp and light. The standard salsa is thick and mild, with the option of a small side of salsa picante to pep it if you ask. Our main dishes today were camarones vallarta and fajita with camarones. You know how sometimes you get the food and it's only warm? Not the case today -both were blazing. A super generous amount of shrimp graced each plate and my fajita wasn't just onion and pepper but deliciously broiled squash as well. The nicely (also HOT) textured corn tortillas did yeoman's work containing the shrimp, veggies, refried beans (yum!) and Mexican rice. Similar thumbs up for the camarones vallarta - a deep umami from the mushrooms and a crisp bite from the scallions. We entered hungry but ended up taking home half of each entree due to how generous a serving we received. The Jamaica was a bit sweeter than I like but my wife thought it was A+. I'd love to report on the flan but none was present. Apparently the owner hasn't made any for a while. :-( Here's hoping there's some next time! read more
