We live very close to El Rancho Nuevo so we go here A LOT. That being said, my husband and I would gladly drive further for some awesome food. Luckily, we don't have to. El Rancho never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the service is always fantastic! In particular, you have to get their queso fundido which is the best my husband and I have ever tasted. I'm not a fan of the Mexican restaurants in the St Louis area. But this one is the best I've found. The food is good. The staff is friendly. The margaritas are good. You have to ask for the hot salsa and green salsa instead of the traditional salsa because it's pretty much like every other Mexican restaurant around. But the hot and green are great! I really like going to this restaurant and it's my choice for Mexican. The only thing I'd change is the chips. They're a corn tortillas chip and I prefer a lighter flour tortilla chip. But that's not gonna stop me from coming here every few weeks. read more

Great little local place. Chips and salsa are good, ask for the green salsa, it's a tomatillo jalapeño salsa that's delish. I get the fajitas volcano every time, spicy and beat fajitas around. We used to come here several times a month and it was always superb and have great service. We are being super careful with Covid and still aren't eating indoors, so we now come for carry out. We miss the great service, but the food is still amazing when we take it home. Everything we've tried is great, but I especially love the burritos. They also have the best margaritas I've had in St Louis, especially the upscale one (I forget the name) but it's incredible. And if you like spicier salsa, ask for the hotter version too. read more

From the moment I called to place my order for takeout to the time I picked it up, there was just this unwelcoming and unfriendly vibe. The guy on the phone didn't say thank you and the person who handed us the food was very dismissal in a very "here's your food bye" kind of way. Not to mention, the order was a big order for my 3 boys and wife. As for the food, despite it taking 25min opposed to 15 like they mentioned, it was nothing special. I truly don't get how anyone can eat here and say that this is unique mexican food, it's literally the same stuff and taste that you can find anywhere. It's more expensive than traditional for no good reason other than having to pay high rent. I think their chips are also store-bought. I will not be returning to this place and suggest anyone else to save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Very solid. Looks like a hole in the wall and kind of is because it's in a old fast food building. Pretty small but we were seated immediately for dinner on a Saturday night. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. All 3 of us enjoyed our food. The margaritas were good according to those who had them. They had my favorite Mexican beer (Pacifico) so that was a plus also. I ordered the Steak Taco's and a drink... I go to pay and am charged $20... that is $6 per taco! Why? Because I asked for lettuce, cheese and sour cream on my taco... which I turned a $3 taco into a $6 taco. DO NOT GO HERE! THEY MAY RIP YOU OFF! First time to new restaurants near our home. Different variety of choices than most St. Louis area Mexican style restaurants. I tried a chicken dish with San Jose sauce. Very smokey and very hot...which I enjoyed. We will be back to try out some more dishes. read more

My wife and I are fairly new to the area. We both enjoy Mexican food so it was important to us to find a go-to restaurant. We have tried almost every place within a ten mile radius of our home. Nothing but a series of disappointments. Almost gave up until this restaurant opened. Have been there 4 times now (3 times in Weldon Springs and once at the newer St. Charles location). The food has been great on every occasion. And each time I have ordered a different dish. I would like to add that we mainly order carry out. We dined in once at the St. Charles location. Dining room was nice and the service was excellent. The Weldon Springs location appears to have once been A Wendy's. So it is relatively small. I personally would not dine in there as they have fluorescent lighting in the ceiling that totally destroys the atmosphere. read more

I loved this place! Best salsa EVER! The food is fantastic as is the employees. I usually go to another Mexican restaurant closer to where I live but happened upon El Rancho Nuevo while staying in St. Charles. I will definitely drive the extra 15 minuets to come back here every time I need my Mexican food fix. Kudos to the employees for making me feel comfortable and welcome while I sat at the bar by myself. :-) read more

Stopped in to Rancho Nuevo on our way home. We had our dog with us so we placed a to go order. I ordered chili rellano and wife ordered enchiladas. Both meals were packed well, large servings, and still warm when we got home. Included was a large bag of tortilla chips and a large bowl of salsa. The food was outstanding and we recommend this restaurant completely. read more

Finally got a chance to try this new restaurant in st Charles. We were not disappointed. The menu is downright enormous. I ordered beef with green chili sauce that was just a bit spicy and very flavorful. My wife ordered a dish with chicken shrimp and bacon that she also loved. Staff was fast and friendly as well. This location used to be a Starbucks so the building looks a bit like a fast food place but it isn't. This is a reasonably priced sit down restaurant with tasty food. We will be back again soon. read more

Great little neighborhood Mexican restaurant! The food and service was excellent. My husband and I shared the "little bit of everything" combo plate and it was all delicious...especially the chili relleno! Had the guacamole for an appetizer and it was also amazing...super fresh and flavorful. A little disappointed there's no Mexican beer on tap, but its really not a "bar" atmosphere...definitely more of a family restaurant. They do have bottles of Modelo, Dos XXs, and a few others though. Ordered the taco Carne Asada, as a side ya a came out as one large piece of fatty unflavored meat and was charged as a whole meal. I have never had it like this before. Friendly staff, but not good food. I ordered a crunchy beef taco, and the ground beef was watery with zero flavor or spices. Taco meat shouldn't be gray. The chips and salsa are the same chips and salsa that every Mexican restaurant in St. Charles serves...so, nothing delicious there. The cheese dip was super runny and had no taste. Waited 30 min to have our food order taken which never happened so we got up and left. We watched as people seated well after us had their orders taken. Was given we'll be there in 1 min hand gesture and again no one came. They were busy but it's just frustrating. We've eaten there numerous times before and considered ourselves good weekly customers however this ruined it for us.
