We stopped in on a whim. I got a wet burrito and it was delicious! My friend had the burrito loco and said it was one of the best he had... and wished he could get a burrito like that where he lives. The waiter recommended the queso fundito when I asked for a good dip. That tastes really good. read more

This place just slips on like a favorite pair of well worn jeans. Wander in, friendly face seats you, and the homey comfort begins. Which is amazing because I didn't grow up in a Mexican home. But the folks here just make you feel like you belong. Like you could spend a couple of hours lazily sipping margaritas (they're fantastic) and nibbling on chips and tacos and burritos and beans and rice and more. They're also fine if you're in a bit of a rush. I never get tired of hanging here. read more

The food is delicious! Probably the best enchiladas I've ever had! My husband had the wet burrito. Going back tonight for more enchiladas for myself but this time my husband is trying the chorizo torta. read more

What's not to love. There's classic Mexico and variations on traditional dishes. The chorizo is perfect. We love this place. It has become our go to since moving here. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The Birria tacos were very good. These were QuesoBirria which were good, but they should also offer them without the cheese. My husband had a chicken soft taco and chili relleno and a beef taco. He said both were good. I was impressed with the decor and music. I always prefer a restaurant that chooses it music to match its cuisine. We would like to have another try at this cute spot in a strip mall. The only big negative is they charged $4.25 for a club soda, simply water out of their machine. That to me is a no-no. read more

Very clean place and very nice people. But low grade ingredients and tasteless dishes. The quesabirria was loaded with too much cheese and fatty meat. The sauce had no punch. The enchiladas had tasteless beef and canned sauce. The appetizer chips were mediocre, not very crisp. read more

Food arrived so quickly and was delicious. We've visited many times throughout the years and it is one of the few 'repeat' restaurants we love! Staff is generally efficient and helpful and has never disappointed read more

Why give a a neighborhood Mexican place 5 stars? Well, first of all, they're open on a Sunday evening. That's not always a given. Some places work hard Friday and Saturday, then are closed on Sunday. El Rancho was working hard on a Sunday afternoon. Second, the server responded well to several special requests, including some extra tortillas for the leftovers boxed up to go home, grateful for that. Third, we were a relatively large group, nine or ten, depending on how you count the kids, and all the orders came out in close sequence, and without error. Food and drinks were plentiful. And delicious. Thank you, ER! read more

Ordered the Nacho carbon for the two of us. They were delicious and fresh. Service was great and restaurant was very clean and colorful ‼

Horrible service. Waited 10 minutes before seeking out a waiter. Ordered. Brought wrong drink. Couldn't find server to correct it so just let it go. Food was good. Never saw the waiter again. Had to seek out someone else to get the bill. Bill was wrong. Never came back with my credit card. Had to go get it. Worst service EVER!!! read more

El Rancho has the very best margaritas and quesobrillas!! Service is always great as is the atmosphere!

This gem is hidden in a strip mall in Holland. The service was excellent and friendly. I started out with the Horchatarita, which was amazing! Chips and salsa were free and very good. The taco trio was delicious, my favorite was chorizo, followed by chicken, and then steak. All three were excellent. The menus, both drink and food are big. Will be back! read more

My wife wanted a plate of nachos last night so we decided to explore the area, pick a Mexican restaurant and give it a try. El Rancho did not disappoint. The nachos we shared were very tasty. They told us we need to come back and try some other dishes. The chicken in the nachos have us wanting to try other chicken dishes. For me that mean chicken enchiladas. The only downside is our server forgot about us. We left outside seating and tracked him down. That can happen. We will try the place again. read more

Yummy yummy food, great margaritas, and excellent service! Will go back as the location is easy to get to from Grand Haven.

We were excited to try this restaurant, however, some of the dishes that arrived fell short of expectations. We ordered two taco combos and both were lacking in ingredients and flavor. On the steak, chicken and chorizo combo, there were no ingredients aside from meat. Definitely did not expect to receive tacos with no toppings on them. The burrito was also pretty plain and simple, lacking in flavor and salt. Would recommend looking elsewhere for authentic Mexican flavors. Best, Charlie read more

Our server was good The food was marginal. I had the pu6ck two entre A chicken enchilada & a chicken quesadilla. It was just ok. The chicken had no flavor whatsoever. The sauce on the enchilada was good but otherwise no flavor. Hubby had the chicken & beef fajitas. It was like they forgot to season it at all-no flavor. We've had this problem here before so there probably will be no return trip. read more

My wife & I came in for enchiladas and margaritas. Our food was served frozen, the waiter took it back and served again, frozen. Don't EVER give them your credit card, pay in cash, our dinner came to $25 they took out two extra transactions of $75. Our bank alerted us the next day. We will never go back. read more

This review is for the 16th Street location. Terrible customer service today! Picked up an order of chicken fajitas for $17.00. When I got home, I discovered that my order consisted of soggy overcooked vegetables with what looked like crumbs of chicken. Not the amount of chicken I would expect for $17.00. When I called to mention this, I was treated like a criminal. In order to receive any compensation, I would need to bring back the entire meal. Are you kidding! I didn't have time to make the 20 minute trip back, so I ate the chicken and threw away most of the soggy vegetables. El Rancho say good bye to a loyal customer. Learn how to deal with people. I will be enjoying my next order of fajitas at Dorado's or El Patrone. The food is of better quality and tastes better! read more

Authentic Mexican restaurant with a big menu and alcohol too! We live in town and if I'm wanting Mexican food with a margarita, this is the place we go to! Quick and delicious!! I recommend the polo loco if you love rice and cheese! If you prefer the shrimp version, get the grilled shrimp! So good! read more

Complicated orders are served correctly; service is always fast; staff is kind and personable; restaurant is clean; food is tasty!

Pluses: Portions are huge. People who ordered tacos and fajitas liked them. Good salsa. Friendly wait staff. Minuses: The tortillas were corn only for the enchiladas and were not fresh. The enchilada sauces were uninspired. The chips were packaged and very thick, heavy. Nobody ever heard of charro beans so it's just lardy refried beans. read more

Very nice outside set up which made it easy to dine in and still enjoy their food hot out of the kitchen. Wasn't a fan of their fried ice cream but the churros were good. Also recommend the carne asada tacos. Burrito was worth every penny and definitely get your portions worth and then some. read more

If you like really bland Mexican food, this is it. I had chicken enchiladas that had no seasoning whatsoever. Shredded chicken stuffed in a corn tortilla. The "salsa" resembled watered down ketchup. BTW...If you are delivering to a hotel, chances are you will need cutlery. Just a suggestion El Rancho read more

This is a solid Four Star based on the house margaritas alone! The location of this restaurant is nothing special but if downtown is crowded this might be a good option. Their house margaritas really are great!! Not your usual sweet and sour mix. There is also a small patio on the side so you can sit and enjoy some sun. All of the meals we ordered were very good. read more

One year after my first visit el Rancho continues to satisfy. A good selection of daily lunch and dinner specials, and a very good selection of fun adult beverages make for a good times at El Rancho. Must agree with a prior reviewer the salsa is lacking something; fortunately the cheese dip continues to save the day. PS took one star away because of the salsa. read more

In the past this would have been a 4 or 5 star review, but the last few times the service has been sub-par and the food so-so.

We've been to this location many times, and this past Friday was the worst experience we've had there. We were a party of 12 there after having a family member pass away. It was close to a half hour before they took our order, and then almost another hour before the food arrived.... read more

Excellent food and service! House margaritas are very good too. Would definitely come back here again.

I was so excited to finally return to one of my favorite restaurants only to receive the worst service I've ever had. I made a reservation for the patio, and were the only party outside for several minutes. We watched 3 other parties who arrived after us, get their food before our server Juan even took our drink order. Our food was brought out over about 10 minutes, so no one ate together. When we finished, we waited over 15 minutes for the check, only to be charged more than double on two items. We had to wait another 5 minutes for the bill to be corrected. Unfortunately we will not return to this location read more

I visit every time I am in town-- can't miss my El Rancho time! Go on a Wednesday or Saturday nights when they have "Pitcher Margarita" nights. For around $10, you can get a full pitcher of any flavor and style margarita to share with your table. They don't skimp on the tequila either! I have always been impressed by their food and service as well. The chips and salsa are a good snack while you wait for your food. I have been here with large groups as well, and the service was still great. The portions aren't huge, but they are filling for sure. I can't wait until I am back in the area to fill up on some good drinks, food, and friends. read more

Margarita's come in S, M, and L??? Count me in! Seriously though, I'm super happy there is finally a good mexican (more tex-mex) place to eat, that also has a good drink selection. We ventured in there for the first time last night, and I only tried the chili rellano (excellent!) and a couple of baskets of chips, and some guacamole. (and the margarita, of course). The guacamole was some of the best I've had- love it when there is bits of tomato and cilantro in it! It also had a bit of a kick, which was perfect. The salsa that was served with the chips was my only not-favorite part, there was a bit of a plastic flavor to it- which may have been because the container it was served in was fairly new, I'm not sure. I will for sure give this place another try, and hopefully add more details to this review. The restaurant is clean and colorful, and the staff is super friendly. I'll be back! read more

The salsa was good, although I believe that a Mexican restaurant should have good salsa by default. I cannot give it better, the fajitas had no flavor at all. I don't think they even added salt to the beef. It was terrible. I ordered the combo plate with a chili relleno, enchilada and burrito. The chili was almost slimy, the ground beef in the burrito had no seasoning and the enchilada was bland. The food tasted like American-ized Mexican food trying to be Mexican food. I would prefer one or the other but the this conglomeration was terrible. I think the rating is deceptive. This restaurant was not worth our time or money. read more
