Came in for lunch and was greeted and seated quickly..ordered a Lime Jarritos to drink...Chips and Salsa were served quickly ..Salsa was delicious and had a nice spice to it..Quesabirra was ordered with Rice and Beans...it was served hot and was delicious! I ordered the steak fajita salad. The steak was flavorful and a very generous amount was in my salad. As well as a huge scoop of guacamole. My only negative is the bathroom. It was technically clean, but the door was very worn and dirty looking. I coat of paint would make it look cleaner. I don't like anything at all in a restaurant where I'm eating to look like it's dirty. Even the bathroom door. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. read more

Terrible! Do not go here. This place is bad. From the food to the service, avoid at all cost. The guacamole had a piece of plastic in it. They don't care about their customers, or the food they serve. My husband ordered a burrito and it looked scary. Good Mexican food at a good price. We had great service during our Saturday afternoon lunch. We started with the white queso dip! Not many places have this on the menu, and for $4 it is tasty. I had the enchilada, taco, beans and rice combo. I like the white shredded cheese they top everything with. It melts into a creamy yumminess. I also sampled the taquito appetizer (enough for a meal) and the flautas. Both were freshly fried and good. My friend had a sizzling bowl of meats and veggies. It was served with warm flour tortillas. The salsa is fresh but not hot. we asked for a spicy salsa and they had none. The restaurant has simple Mexican décor....nothing fancy but not a hole in the wall place. There is no bar. There is plenty of parking in the attached parking lot. I wouldn't hesitate to return on my next visit to Crystal River. read more

Totally decent, straight forward authentic Mexican food. Plates have a good amount of food for a reasonable price. I got the Mexican plate and liked everything on it. Absolutely the best Mexican Restraunt. The personnel is great, place is clean, food is delicious, can't beat the prices. My husband and I go weekly, love the specials on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. Also the $6.95 margarita's buy one get one :) . Why go to the grocery store when it cost less to eat out on one of their week night special nights. I love it!!!! They definitely deserve the 5 star rating I am giving them. Maybe the y were just having a bad night when I was there. As others say, there was plenty of food served for the price, and some of it was good. But I ordered a combo plate that had a chile relleno on it and it was literally swimming, drenched! in a big puddle of oil. I couldn't eat it, it was gross. The atmosphere was outdated and a but tired and sad. I'm sorry to write this, because I'm all for family owned and run hole in the wall restaurants, but I won't go back to this one. read more

Everything tasted amazing as usual and of course big portions. The service is always very fast and pleasant and you can tell they really care about their customers since it's a family owned business. If you like standard Americanized Mexican food with no discerning palate, this is a place for you. The staff are friendly and attentive. The chips and salsa are decent; the salsa had a slight kick to it, which is good. Ordered the vegetarian plate. The plate was swimming in sauce and cheese, I could not see half of the actual food. This is the second time I have been here and It was better first time around, second time not so much. Lets start with no silverware and drinks with no straws. Ordered the Fajitas with steak, and the number 3 lunch (taco, burrito and enchilada). When I got my plate, I had a hunk of cheese where the enchilada might be, in fact it was there but the shell was mush. the taco shell was mush, only the burrito was editable. They did bring me a new enchilada and it was not much better, so be safe, don't order an enchilada. We were offered one refill on a drink but for only one of us at the table, and she wants a tip, neh. I am actually writing this as the waitress walked by and asked the next table if they needed refills. The "service"? unattentive and while I walked out the waitstaff was downright rude. Citrus County folks really ought to demand better from their restaurants. They blamed the entirety of the problem on GrubHub and would not correct the order. Horrible customer service. My dad has been coming to El Ranchito pretty much since they opened - 20+ years ago by his estimate - and he's always raving about it. I've been twice this year (most recently on 11/23), and it's becoming my must-go place when I'm in the area, visiting family. I think the food is excellent, especially at the price-point. Both times, I had the salsa and chips - the salsa is very fresh, and quite spicy. The chips have a good flavor and crispness, and aren't over-salted. I got the chicken chimichangas on both visits - they are savory, creamy, and delicious. The sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes were all fresh, and very, very good. I don't know if they grow their own peppers, tomatoes, and cilantro, but if they're visiting a local market, I'd love to get the name of their source. The tomatoes in particular were quite sweet and flavorful. The BF had the shrimp diablo. He has a high pain threshhold, and he's a spicy-food-snob. He looooved this dish, he said it was very very hot. We also had the guacamole, which was very good. Overall, this place is a great find - relaxed, casual, and very tasty. read more
