Not sure what happened but I came back and was quite disappointed. The drinks were still very good though. Service was wonderful, so I hate writting this. My fajitas had zero flavor, the shrimp was not cleaned. The enchiladas de mole, had way too much chocolate flavor to them. Sadly I will not be returning.

Complementary chips and salsa, two à la cart Steak Tacos, Grilled Jalapeño Peppers, and a Shrimp Taco Dinner with Beans and Rice.

We had a wonderful dinner at El Puente on Main Street in Saint Charles, Illinois. This is a very authentic Mexican restaurant from the decor to the delicious meals. The service was excellent. When inquiring about seafood options our waitress suggested a Shrimp Taco Dinner, a special order dinner which was not on the menu. It was very good. We also enjoyed complementary chips and salsa, Steak Tacos, and Grilled Jalapeños, which were also very good. The meal arrived surprisingly fast and when we were done eating, our dishes were promptly removed by a very polite worker. We did not feel rushed, and we were able to enjoy our dining experience . This is a great place for authentic Mexican meals.

On a lunch quest on a lazy, late summer, weekday afternoon we happened upon this little place. Atmosphere was nothing fancy but it was casual, colorful and the service was welcoming. A favorite menu treat when visiting New Mexico is an order of sopapillas so we were surprised when we spotted them here and it was the first thing we ordered. Delicious Salsa and chips were served while we waited for the dessert to be served first! One salsa quite delicious, the second a reminder of tomato soup. Must be a house recipe. Bowls of chili, order of wings, side of tacos and a couple of margaritas. Basic but delicious fare, reasonably priced menu. Those sopapillas,? Not as light and airy as the heavenly pillows we are used to but for us the nostalgia was there for a moment and as is customary, served with honey! Call if you prefer outside seating, we chose inside it wasn't a problem being late afternoon.

I ordered the nachos with chicken and they were so filling and delicious that I didn't order an entree for dinner. My brother had the fajitas and he can be picky! He said they were delicious. The drink menu is generous. They offer some unique margaritas that are a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. The blueberry lavender margarita tasted amazing - it was very sweet! We will definitely be back, especially with the location being conveniently located in downtown St. Charles!

That was on me, but still, the drink itself was solid. For my meal, I got the spicy shrimp appetizer, and we also shared guacamole and chips--probably the best guac I've had yet! The chips were light and airy, which I really appreciated. Our friends got the fish tacos with a side of rice and beans--also very fresh and flavorful. The tuna tacos were great too. Our waiter was really nice and had no issue splitting the checks for us. The inside is nicely decorated, and the wall of tequila adds a fun touch. The outdoor seating felt a bit cramped though--where we sat, it seemed like we were super close to other tables, and it was a little tight for the waitstaff to move around. Overall, a really good experience! They weren't kidding when they said spicy shrimp--it was definitely spicy, but in the best way. The breading and flavor were on point.

The menu is pretty extensive - next time I'll have to try the breakfast which is served all day. The service was good, they brought my tacos outside to my table. Although they forgot to bring my guacamole so I took that home. The food was delicious though - I tried chicken tinga, al pastor, and chorizo. They were each very flavorful and cooked well. The salsas were tasty too. Looking forward to coming back!

My boyfriend had a variety of tacos (fish, shrimp, and ribeye steak) but the fish taco was his favorite. There were only 2-3 young men working the front of the house and they were hustling. They spoke very loud and clear (a good thing!) and stayed busy taking orders, cleaning tables, and checking on guests. Job well done to those hard workers. Inside is a bit tight. When we visited, a part of the restaurant was closed off for a party so seating was limited to the few tables up front. However, there are some tables outside and you're super close to St Mary's Park so you could always get your order to-go and picnic at the park.

This was my mother's first time visiting your Geneva restaurant, although she has enjoyed other Hacienda Real locations in the past. It was my first time dining at any Hacienda Real, and based on this experience, I'm not eager to return! The issues began with extremely poor service. We repeatedly had to chase down our server, Alejandro C, whenever we needed something. The food was also disappointing. The salsa served with the chips reminded me of chunky Tostitos wasn't good or authentic. The steak fajitas were very skimpy and had a super charred taste. For my son's chicken fingers the only dipping sauce available was ketchup? No other sauces. They made my mom's plate wrong three times to the point where I had to get up and go to the receptionist a young girl with glasses and a little black skirt on "helped" me. She confirmed our table number and said she will get a manager and to sit back down. We waited another 20 mins and no one showed but our waiter. At this point were so frustrated and just ready to go that my mom and I paid the $113 bill but did not leave a tip which is not like us at all, but the service was so poor and on the bottom of the receipt it said text the owner so that's what I did since no manager came to us in person. Hopefully I get a text back. Overall, it's a cute restaurant with nice decor, but the food and service just isn't it I did enjoy my strawberry mimosa and the guac was decent.

They brought a small bowl of chips and had three different types of salsa in plastic bottles (like the old style ketchup and mustard ones at diners) with three small dishes to put them in. Chips were thick, crispy, and salty. Not sure if they have free refills, as we finished our chips rather fast and they took the bowl away afterwards. I ordered the 22 oz strawberry margarita and it was probably one of the best margs I've had. Came with strawberry slices in the drink and a tajin rim. Great deal for $10. I ended up getting three tacos traditional style: Birria, steak, and chorizo. The birria one was really good, just wish the tortilla was dipped in juice like some of the other birria tacos I've had. It was my first time having chorizo, and I would order it again. The steak taco was good, but nothing special. Service was a little slow despite there only being one other table, but our table was talking anyway so it wasn't too much of an issue. Overall, would go back if I was in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
