Okay. Hear me out on the four stars... Just because I'm giving it four stars doesn't mean I think it's only one star below Red Iguana. I think reviews should have some context and not all 4-star reviews mean the same thing. This place is fast food. They have a drive thru. All the plates, cups and ramekins are disposable. No one brings your food to you unless you're sitting in your car in the drive thru. Think of it as a really, really nice Taco Bell with an emphasis on chicken. There's some beef options, too. Seemed like it was priced about the same as Taco Bell. Seemed much more healthy. They have Coke products rather than Pepsi. There's lots of freshness and avocados. In its "genre," it totally deserves four stars. Lots of people in fancy cars calling ahead, picking up and taking back to their homes. It's quality food. There was chicken everywhere. Glad i tried them and I'm certain I'll return someday. read more

I love El Pollo Loco but this is THE WORST run location. Went in today to order chicken and was told they only have leg and thigh.... The employees were too busy talking with friends and each other they didn't even care there was a customer waiting or that they apparently didn't have any chicken to serve. read more

The Sandy El Pollo Loco has really hit its stride. It's always been better than the West Valley location but this time, it was as good as the Cali locations. I'll be back way more often than I have recently. read more

Healthier alternative to other fast food places out there. Yummy chicken is served juicy and the corn is sweet with a hint of pepper. I appreciated that the drink selection was varied and included non-carbonated options and tea instead of just the usual colas and syrups. However, the side salad is choked with cabbage, so if you don't like the purple stuff, be sure to request its absence. The service leaves something to be desired as the employees were visibly not interested in being there. Luckily it didn't interfere with the food preparation. I deducted a point for this. read more

We loved El Pollo Loco in Texas and were glad to see a location near us in Utah. This one is more hit than miss. I think we've only had one semi-off experience at this location. It's nice to have fast food that is not fried or a burger, and their grilled chicken is consistently delicious. They have the best corn chips I've ever tasted and are nice and crispy and thick enough to stand up to the decent queso. The entire family enjoys coming here and it's nice to have some healthier options. They also have some great keto options. read more

Strike Uno for this chain was when they kept the salsa bar shut down. I mean, they had a legit reason during Covid, but that's long over now and they kept it shut anyway just to be cheap. You have to ask for like one little container of each thing and that's all you get for free now. Strike Dos is removing horchata from the drink options. At least it's no longer on the dining room floor where you can get at it and refill it. Main reason I came in and boy was that a kick in the grapes. Honestly they should be on Strike Tres at this point getting rid of the good chicken tacos with the fried shell but I'm being very generous. I guess these complaints are more the chain than this specific location, which I guess was OK otherwise, but it just got caught in the barrel this time. read more

Not sure how people had reviews from 2016 at this South Town location? It has been around what 2-3 months tops? The building before it was the old McGrath's fish house which closed in 2017. Many years ago went to El Pollo Loco in Utah county and remember loving it. After trying it my palate must have been really bad back then. :-) (maybe it still is). We had 6 in our party and one person at the register, only 1 free table that quickly changed 2 free tables after a short wait. Chicken was overcooked, and dry. I could see the grill cooking fresh chicken behind the counter, maybe we got yesterday's batch? Guacamole was good, the salsa was good, my brother and sister in law complained of the almost meatless burritos. The churros were doughy in the middle. Don't think we will come back. read more

Arrived during lunch. I went inside the restaurant rather than the drive-through. The restaurant was clean, and the service was fast and efficient. I ordered the quesadilla combo, which comes with a drink, salsa and tortilla chips. I ordered the avocado salsa which on the placard said it was hot. The chips didn't seem that fresh. The salsa had good flavor, but I would not consider it hot. The best part was the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was moist and had good flavor. It had cilantro cheese and black beans in it. I think I will return and try out some of the other menu options. read more

Went in for a quick lunch. Told the drive thru attendant that I wanted one of the 5 dollar bowls. He kept saying the Double Chicken Bowl. I said I wanted the Avocado bowl when he kept pushing. How difficult can Leonard make a simple order. He should be in a position where he can listen over push it here food. I get up to the window and I am at 14 and change. I mentioned that he got it wrong. I just paid because I was getting frustrated. Why can't people listen. To top it off he Talked to the manager and he gave me $ 1.40 back. I have to do an updated review since my last one was years ago. Unfortunately, El Pollo Loco has gone down hill for me. I'm not sure if I'm paying more for the food, or if the quality is so low that I notice the cost more but I was so disappointed coming here. The chicken is tasty, but all the sides were terrible. It also felt that I was getting less chicken than before for the same cost. The tortillas are heated in the microwave, the rice is bland and hard, and the beans are overcooked and tasteless. I think the redeeming factor (2 stars) is their salsa bar and nice service. I hate to be this harsh. There is other local chicken joints that put effort on making a tasty meal (and not just chicken) which makes Pollo Loco skippable. read more

Not a fan! I really wanted to like this place because I love Mexican food I love fresh made Mexican food that's fast. The first time I came here it was pretty good. I had a taco salad. The second time I came here I had a bowl and it just wasn't good. It over all lacked flavor and a fresh taste. Today I went there, for a third time, and got that chicken enchiladas. The restaurant had a "dirty sock" smell. When I tasted the cold beans, it was confirmed, that that's what smelled like dirty socks. The tortillas that the chicken was wrapped in were not heated up properly, so they cracked easily and were fairly cold. The chard pieces of chicken were actually good. The "hot" sauce should have added some flavor but, oddly it did not. The green sauce on top of the enchiladas was very watery. I may go back, but, not anytime s The response from this business appears to be automated. They ask you to tell them again why about your experience by going to a website and filling out a form. No thanks. I just filled out this review. Why not just show the reviews to the manager??? Or allow managers to respond to reviews. Makes it even harder to give this place another chance. The Burrito Bowl!!! It comes with two tortillas your choice of flour or corn and a soft drink. **My go-to salsa order is the Avacado salsa.** I absolutely love this order. It's easy on the budget. It is insanely good. One of the best parts is how full I feel when I'm done with the bowl but at the same time I don't feel sick. Do you know what I mean? If you aren't pressed for time I challenge you to do the figure 8 challenge. That would be where you get your Burrito Bowl from here and then you exit to the entrance of Krispy Kreme next door and get a sweet treat. Back to El Pollo Loco!! This place is probably great for vegetarians, since there's barely any meat in anything anyway. Ordered 6 chicken street tacos and a couple gorditas. The street tacos only had one flimsy corn tortilla each, no onion, no cilantro, no tomato, 2 of them had no meat at all, the rest had only traces of chicken, and they where all filled past capacity with shredded lettuce. The Gordita tortillas were stale, and again filled entirely with lettuce. Overpriced too, paid $30 for lettuce filled tortillas. On top of that, Rude, but that's to be expected in Utah. But Don't complain to me about your job while I'm waiting, I came for tacos Im not your therapist. I can't believe it, but I'd recommend Del Taco or Taco Bell over this expensive salad bar masquerading as a mexican joint. I get that your job sucks, but you don't take it out on me. I've eaten at the one in Huntington Beach California. I remember the burritos being a lot bigger and a lot better tasting. I got halfway through my lightweight burrito and found out there's no avocados in there and I ordered a chicken avocado burrito, I complained they gave me a cup of avocados... grrrrreat! LOL. The flavor of the burrito is not bad, but you have to drench it in their avocado sauce or their fresh salsa. Overall not really impressed, especially about the quality and quantity for the price, for that much money? I could head over to another Burrito Joint for about 5 or 6 bucks and get twice as much and twice as good. You can skip this joint and not lose any sleep over it. I really don't see what the big deal is. After hearing people talk about this place with so much reverence, I figured I might have to make a lunch run. When I got there I ordered the two piece leg and breast combo with two sides, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. I luckily got there right before the rush, so there wasn't a massive line and I was able to be taken care of quickly. Once my food came out I was expecting something a little more for my money I dropped on it than the super small pieces that I received. The chicken was SUPER dry and on the breast there was basically none at all. The sides were just alright, but definitely not anything to make a fuss over. Based off of everything else that I've seen on here, maybe it was just an off day and I can give it another shot, but with a superior Popeyes across the road, that's going to be a hard sell for me. read more
