We did drive thru - as it becomes apparent, that's all we do these days. The line was fast. Which is important when it comes to fast food. We were out within 10 minutes during normal lunch hours. They provided all the necessary goods to eat our meal - forks, knives, napkins, salsas. We order a 3 piece meal and a burrito. The food was alright. It's been a while since we did an el pollo loco run and maybe our hopes were up. Although it was good, it just seemed to lack the flavor that we remembered El Pollo was known for. The chicken was on the dry side, but not completely dry. And the burrito was missing that punch. Decided to give this restaurant another try. First of all if you are going to have menus, either update them with prices or have a scan code to your menu. We received menus to order from that all the prices were blacked out so we had no idea of the cost. we tried to ask the waiter, but we don't speak Spanish and it was hard to understand. Food was just ok. Chips were old and tasteless and they charge you an extra $1.50 for more. This is a horrible location. The first time we tried to eat here we wanted to go through the drive thru. We pulled up to the menu board and got a message that the location was closed when they were clearly open. We went in to order and told them about it and they blamed it on daylight savings even though the change had happened several months ago and didn't really seem to care Today we went to the drive thru to order a salad and we were told they were out of salads. Second visit, again 16 dirty tables, only 6 tables with customers. Only clean tables were two tops and we had a party of three. Not on table was cleaned during our 1 hour (yes 1 hour) visit. Lost a star for this. Down to two. Took almost 30 minutes to get our food afyer we ordered. Food is excellent, ordered the beef barbacoa burrito and again, amazing food. Mashed potatoes are great. Music volume is a little too loud in the back of the dining room (farthest from register, and the cashier was very slow (though I think she was new and am not holding it against her. This is a review of Pollo Loco on Platt Ave in West Hills. This chain was our go to for take-out tasty grilled chicken. I'm saddened by the deterioration in quality we have experienced on 3 successive visits. I was forgiving the first time because of the pandemic, but they aren't showing any signs of recovery. At our last visit, they were out of flour tortillas. First world problems I know, but I will be crushed if this once great business continues to go into decline. The chicken parts are so small and dry that they need to totally recalibrate their cooking temps and time if they can't procure bigger chickens. It's a shame. The skin is the only thing that is edible. We tend to order dark meat so it will be extra moist, but when drumsticks and thighs are barely the size of my thumb, they are overcooked and like eating sawdust. Maybe Chick-fil a has locked in all the best poultry contracts. If so, Pollo Loco had better step up their game or they will kill this once admirable chain. read more

I have been eating pollo loco since I was a kid, since we have so many of these in California so my review might be a lil bias. It's great for big families you can get as much grilled chicken with some sides and tortillas. I also love their bowls which is great when you are on the go. I, like many other California natives living in Utah, wished for an El Pollo Loco to open up near me. The first couple of times my family went to this location, it was awesome. Everything was exactly as I remembered it. The 3rd time they screwed up and gave my husband corn tortillas instead of flour with his meal. They also did not give us any utensils or salsa. As another reviewer said earlier, it seemed as though the girl taking the order was distracted because I had to repeat everything. We gave it another chance today, and that was a huuuuge mistake. The same girl took our order, and again I had to repeat some things and we got corn tortillas instead of flour(what's up with that?). Fast forward to later in the day and he has sudden stomach pains. Yep, E. Coli. We know it was El Pollo because that was the only thing he ate today. Such a shame. Needless to say, we will NOT be back. read more

I give it 2.5 stars and that's for the food. The service is friendly, but 1 cashier at dinner rush, c'mon! Plus, no one assigned to clean the dining room! There should be 3 cashiers, so during busy times they can take orders and take turns maintaining the dining room at ask times. It's obvious this place is popular, the food is great! I am so PUMPED to have El Pollo here in SLC. I'm not a salad kind of girl but their salads are the BOMB! I love their changing menu with the seasons. Don't expect KFC with taters, this is authentic Mexican food and their salsas are fresh and awesome. Oh goodness! Also, parenting tip. This is about the branch in Jordan. We had a great experience with the one in Sandy, so I ordered the same food again: 12pc family platter with rice, fries and chips, two salads and some churros. When I got home from picking up the food, it turned out they forgot the chicken of the 12pc platter. I called them hoping they would deliver but they told me to come back (20min drive) with the ticket because although I had ordered online they claimed they couldn't check the original order... My husband went back and when he got there he asked for some new fries because the ones we had would be cold by the time we could finally start eating dinner, they wanted him to pay for them. When he said that that was anything but customer friendly (forget the chicken, telling customer to come back rather than delivering and then making him pay extra for the fries) they told him that was what the manager had told him to so. When he said that in that case he wished to speak to the manager all of the sudden it wasn't necessary to pay... It was almost 2 hours after I had placed the order before we could start eating dinner. Our salads also were much less nice then the ones we had eaten from the Sandy branch. Trader Joes in SLC In-N-out in SLC El Pollo Loco in SLC...not yet until today! Rejoice, a Cali girl's dream! El Pollo Loco (Crazy Chicken) is now available in West Jordan and a new location opening soon in West Valley City. We arrived before 9pm and the drive-thru lane was backed up. The restaurant was closed due to capacity. The 30 minute wait was totally worth it. I'm pretty sure all the Cali folks, especially Latinos were here. It was the first night and we all have the same idea. Growing up in Los Angeles, El Pollo Loco was something we did as a family. There's literally a Pollo Loco in every corner. The prices are reasonable. They have great family value meals. They have charbroiled chicken that is good. Not the greatest but it's flavorful. I love their chicken (2 piece breast and wing) plate with 2 sides. They have Mac-n-cheese, beans, rice, corn, mashed potatoes and much more! Personally, I order the corn and mashed potatoes. You can have flour or corn tortillas and the green salsa (avocado) is a must. If you're looking for a more lighter selection, they have the Pollo bowl and salads. I know I will definitely be back to have a "taste" of home. read more

California Dream turned into a nightmare! First of all after waiting in the long drive thru line and finally getting to ordering, the order taker Daisy and made me repeat my order 3 or 4 times because she seemed and sounded distracted. When I get to the window, Yazmin greets me with a "Hola!" and starts talking to me in Spanish, and I said "no Spanish" and she kept going.. Then I told her again that I didn't speak any Spanish. She then asks me what my order was and I had a 10 pc family meal a coke a dr. Pepper extra tortillas and churros. After a 45 minute drive to get home, I realized they didn't give me my churros and one of my sides. I then call the store and spoke to Oscar who hardly spoke any English and claimed he couldn't hear me.. He had me give him my phone number but I tried saying it to him at least 5 times and he just wasn't hearing. I was so excited to finally get an El pollo loco that could possibly be worth the drive! And now, I'm totally upset... I'm an immigrant and I am all about hiring bilingual workers here in the US but PLEASE make sure to staff the place with people who can speak English fluently for us who don't have the privilege of knowing Spanish.. so disappointed!!!! read more

The first time I've had it fresh and I am a fan! Recently opened so this Wednesday night was pretty packed during dinner for dine-in. I love it here because they have so many options but it also made it tough to make a selection. I would describe it as a KFC with a Hispanic twist but I still don't think that covers it. Their menu consists of salads, burritos, quesadillas, chicken meals, desserts and so much more. My choice, the 2-piece chicken meal combo with leg and thigh. You also have the choice of breast and wing with a little higher price. It comes with your choice of two sides and a small drink. We were looking for the sides on the menu above forever but the sides are a separate menu at the register when you order. They have quite the selection. For the sides, I went with the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese but I also got a chance to try the rice and pinto beans. ALL sides we're great! Pinto beans were okay.. but probably because I'm not a big fan. Chicken was perfect. Not like KFCs fried chicken.. but more of a fancy rotisserie chicken. The skin was crunchy and flavorful and the chicken was cooked for the perfect amount of time, yum! Meals also come with your choice of corn or flour tortilla. We were experimenting on how everything goes together and you can even make a taco with all the items you have. Order and take a seat until your tag starts lighting up and vibrating. They have a salsa bar which includes different types of sauces and salsas along with lemon, cilantro, and jalapeno peppers to go with your meal. I thought it was neat since you're really control of your spice level here and there are just so many options. Two chicken meals came out to about $16 and I believe you get your money's worth.
