The service was good. The people were friendly. The Ambiance is nothing special but the inside of the restaurant does have AC. The food - we ordered nachos de res, A torta de res, and a burrito de res. We finished it off with 3 horchatas. All the food was a bit below average. The flavors were just not right. The horchata was a bit pasty. This was definitely a miss in my book. read more

We came here because we saw the restaurant full, they sat us down outside and the music was average, the server was so busy I believe he only came to our table twice, we ordered the pastor plate and well the plate was full of meat but it was kind of dry for my taste, the agua de jamaica was too sweet. They have a lot of other plates and food from mariscos to tacos. Not sure if I will be coming back. read more

El Ponlano has decent food at fantastic prices. You can't beat their happy hour specials that include a 2 for $100 any flavor margarita deal! The steak plate with veggies and tortillas was a steal at around $200. They also have the best lemonades! While the prices were good, the food was just okay at best! I would come back to try their other cheap eats! read more

They reuse their salsas!!!! I saw them clean a table and take the salsa that they picked up from that table to a new table. Unfortunately I saw this towards the end of our meal. I had the arrachera and it was pretty good but seeing they reused contaminated salsa made me want to throw up my dinner. Luckily I did not eat the salsas as I thought they looked old. Excellent food at El Poblano. It is a local franchise, but it is not like the States. Most of the franchises here actually use fresh and local ingredients. You can right away taste the difference. El Poblano is a popular local spot in the downtown area so it does gets very busy. This is one of those spots that is known for its carne al pastor. That is where they have marinated pork spinning on a trompo and cooked on an open flame. Pure greasy dripping fiery charcoaled goodness. I totally forgot what I ordered because I was buzzed at the time, but our orders did consit of carne del pastor. I did get a picture. All I can say is that it was very flavorful and delicious. I enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend this fabulous place. read more

It looked good from the reviews. Table of 4, everyone's food was good other than mine. I ordered the chipotle fish and had one bite...Seriously one. And it was slimy. The texture was gross. I returned my plate because I wasn't going to eat it, I assumed it would not be on the bill. I read the bill and it was still on it. I argued with the manager to take it off and he persisted to say "I'm not going to not charge for a meal you ordered and didn't like " (in Spanish). I thought it was un reasonable and he threatened to call the cops. Service was poor as well, gave us the margarita we ordered after our meal at the end with the check... I know there's a lot of positive reviews for this place but I would not recommend this place to tourist or locals. read more

The outdoor seating, the music playing, and the smell of the pastor cooking caught our attention. I had the mix tacos plate and only the pastor came with cilantro and onions on it. I wish they would have provided more on the side for my other 5 tacos..the chicken tacos were just grilled pieces of chicken like ones you get out of a bag from castco and heat up..nothing special... My husband was looking for some delicious el pastor tacos when we happened to stumble on this cute little restaurant. The food was great and my husband commented that the tacos was one of the best he has had on our trip. I decided to get the gringa tacos with chicken and I was not disappointed. Dude, Trust me and just do the following: Order the mixed grill meat platter (the one that costs $400 pesos and says is for 4 people)... Next order a bucket of Bohemia Beer. Next order extra of the habanero salsa that they bring you. Name your first child after me in thanks. Good spot to get grub. Delicious Margaritas. Very good tacos of arrachera meat with cheese. Service was fast and the establishment was clean and had a friendly ambiance. Only negative was a lady outside of the establishment came in and dropped off some vacation package flyers to look at after we ordered. And later when our food arrived and she came back and asked if we were interested, we said no and she sat down at our table went on some more about her offers. I thought it was rude to do that while we are trying to enjoy the meal. But luckily she got the point and left after a minute or so. But that's Cancun for you now a days. You can't walk 20 feet without being asked to buy park packages constantly. Lol. read more

Stop by because we were approached by the waiter promoting the seafood, AC, and Wi-Fi. Well the ceviche is horrible, very bland and it's more like a pico de Gallo with slices of shrimp and small chunks of fish. There is no AC felt. To top this place my tab was 145 and I gave 200. I was going to give the guy the change as a tip but upon returning my change he had shorted me by 50. The amount I careless but what bothered me is stealing from me. read more

Supposedly known for their micheladas.... Literally the WORST drink i've ever had in my life. The meat is ridiculously dry, I ordered asada, carnitas and al pastor tacos... all of them were terrible. The service is horrible, we waited 30min just to get the check. Even store bought chips and salsa is better than what they serve at this place. I definitely do not recommend coming here. This is not a $$$$ restaurant. The food is very affordable and they offer big portions!!! We were looking for La Parilla and got lost as we were walking to cross the street several women came and started talking to us and showing us their menu. One of them spoke English and said we will give you free drink. As we are not alcoholic drinkers the offer didn't really matter to us but the food looked good and we were hungry so we said yes. My oldest son ordered grilled shrimp while the youngest ordered grilled fish fillet. My husband ordered tacos con queso with arrachera meat and I ordered the arrachera especial. Tacos with cheese and arrachera meat was 20 pesos each and they were delicious. I got a few bites off my husband's plate. I'm glad he ordered 4 tacos. My plate was pretty big and had tender, juicy, and flavorful beef. This cost 100 pesos which at an exchange rate of 16 pesos/dollar translates to about $6.25. Not bad for a steak like dinner platter. My meal was served with guacamole, onions, and beans. My son loved his shrimp plate and my other son's fish was very good as well. There were many pieces of fish fillet and he shared them with me. I enjoyed the flavor of the fish. We cleaned up all of our food. We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a place for a very reasonable price. Bonus: Their salsa is very good! Oh and they gave us one virgin pina colada drink that they split into two glasses for our boys. We would definitely come back again when we are in Cancun. read more

Looks are deceiving for sure. For the amount of people they have out advertising the place and trying to get you to eat there I was very disappointed that we even stopped. LINDA was our waitress or at least should have been. We got sat and she took a long time to get our drinks after that she disappears. We flagged down another worker because we were ready to order and it had been about 15 minutes since we even ordered our drinks. They said we needed to order through our waitress and I explained to them we didn't know where she was. You can tell the workers were confused on where Linda went but none of them took initiative to try and help us out with getting some food. A few minutes went by and by that time I was annoyed that another worker couldn't get our order for the food so I told them I wanted our check for the two drinks we got. I was so frustrating that as many workers as they had that no one was able to help but Linda. Don't waste your time coming here , once they sit you down they don't care about you. They instead go and try and flag more people to come and eat there read more
