I've been going here for years; however it's really going down hill. Tonight I had the worse food and service ever. My food was brought out and it had onions in it(which I requested no onions) and brown sauce topping which I've never seen (I always order the same thing); NOT once did my server come back to check on my table or refill ANY drinks. After 30 minutes of waiting, I tried to catch the servers attention by saying excuse me; which he looked glanced my way and turned around and never came back. I had to go to the hostess stand to get a check and pay. I mentioned service was horrible and food was wrong and the lady said we got a little busy that's why. My favorite restaurant. Their steaks are cooked just right. Their nachos that they serve as an appetizer are excellent. I love it!!!

Wife and I decided to try. Been passing it for so long, always full of cars - had to be worth trying. The food was good. Wife hated what she ordered and after careful inspection of one of their 'specials' of the day we came to the conclusion that it might have been re-heated leftovers. The service was terrible. I think that tainted the entire evening. Server sat us, took drink order. Brought drinks, took food order. Food came. Then we did not see him again for about an hour. Once I started looking around and making "I am ready to get the heck out of here movements" like pushing my plate away. Putting my napkin on the table, etc.. He brought check. Put cash in and left. TERRIBLE service. Not once refilled drinks or bothered to check on us. I really wanted more salsa. Oh well. Never waste my time or money there again. read more

This place is kinda hit and miss, sometimes the salsa to spicy and other times mild, tonight it was right on, I had the fajita burrito and was very good, my wide 2 hard tacos and she enjoyed them. We from outta town and visit family here regular and often come here and will return. read more

My husband and I were all ready for a nice dinner together, but when we got home and opened our food it was anything but. The portion sizes were so small it was laughable except that it wasn't bcuz we waited all day to eat together and spent a generous amount of money to get ripped off. Perhaps if the food was great, we could have let it slide but my husband's tacos were so soggy at the bottom everything fell out the tacos as soon as he picked them up, I felt terrible watching my baby try to make the soggy mess edible. My "delux" plate was unrecognizable, looked like a salad over mush. I ended up making us some Ramen and bread & butter to fill our bellies, we were too exhausted from working to go to the grocery and cook. Sorry, this was more of a vent than a review but this place really ruined our night . . . Don't let it ruin yours. read more

Worst attempt at Mexican food ever. For starters, they couldn't make a margarita with a call brand because they are pre-mixed. The tortilla chips that came to the table were stale and obviously old. I ordered the Patron Plato, which consisted of obviously microwaved enchiladas, the worst Chile Relleno I have ever tasted, a mediocre taco, and a soggy, sagging tostada. The cheese on the enchiladas was not even fully melted, and it was apparent that they were frozen because the entire plate had water on it which had soaked into the tostada shell. The plate was cold to the touch. My wife ordered a chimichanga, which was raw in the middle. The dough was not even cooked. We figured we would cut our losses and get some sopapillas for dessert since the main course was inedible, but they were out of sopapillas. That was a real shock. They should consider changing their name to El Plato de Mierda. I would not feed this swill to my dogs.. Can I give them zero stars? read more

Went and ate with a group of 8 people. My cousin ordered chick quesadillas and they didn't ask him if he wanted the sides or if he wanted shredded or grilled chicken so he didn't know he could get either. They brought him the shredded. He didn't like it and seen someone else with grilled so he asked to switch it(still with a full plate of the shredded ones) the guy said no problem and brought the grilled ones out. When the bill came, both items were still on the bill so I said why are they both on there and the man said that's what he ordered and I said he asked to switch it because he didn't like it. He didn't even eat the shredded ones and he said I'm sorry there's nothing we can do. Not to mention we had 3 different servers the entire time and not once did the same server come back to our table. Terrible service. Terrible food. read more

The best burrito to eat here is the California burrito what more can be said about a great burrito it is huge trust me when I say you will be full after eating this monster burrito if you are like me and order it you will be bringing some home.There burrito has Shrimp,Steak,Chicken,refried beans,rice and gravy in the inside on the outside they have cheese more gravy and around the plate lettuce,tomato,sour cream.They also have a good fajita steak or chicken or you can combine and have both,there chimichanga is good there also and there endless chips and salsa while you wait for your food will keep you happy till your food gets to the table.But like I said there California is the best cause it is huge delicious and I usually can not eat it all so I get leftovers for the next day or later that night if I go to eat there for lunch.There service is good there place is clean there bathrooms could be up scaled some but other then that I love there food.Depending on what you want to eat and what time since they have cheaper prices at lunch it can go from $5.50 -13.50 for a meal for one person the California burrito is $12.50 but it is worth getting. read more

Really good Mexican food! The salsa is hands down best, if you like it a little spicy. Perfect. Any dish with their ground beef is worth the trip. The steak fajitas are done well but I can't get el gato negro fajitas out of my mind. The staff is courteous and prompt even when the restaurant is near capacity. read more

I've lived in Chalmette a long time but never got around to dining at El Patron's. Recently my mom was in town and we went there for lunch. It was TOTALLY AMAZING!!! Every single thing we both got was absolutely delicious! I had the beef enchiladas and she had hmm... something else but she said it was wonderful. lol Oh and we got guacamole and it was perfect. For dessert we got sopapias which were sweet, spicy and heavenly. I could kick myself for not having stopped there before. We'll be regulars from now on, though. :) read more

This place is decent. Good chicken quesadillas. Margaritas are good but I am pretty sure they are pre-made. Not very strong.

El Patron in my opinion is an all around okay Mexican restaurant. With a rather large menu and with a very varied choice to choose from. Ranging from quesodillas to even just an American stake if you don't like Mexican food. I had heard many good and bad things about this restaurant so I decided to go ahead and try El Patron out for myself. When I entered the restaurant I can tell you for sure that the servers had barely known a lick of English but this did not really matter to me because I was there for Mexican food and that's all that mattered, I just had to speak a little slower and clearer sometimes. After my girlfriend and I had ordered our drinks our server rushed out with a bowl full of tortilla chips and salsa for free. The salsa was delicious in my opinion but my girlfriend said it was a bit too spicy for her, but we both loved the warm fresh tortilla chips. After ordering our food and talking for a while my girlfriend and I both started to feel very cold in fact, my girlfriend said it's always really cold in El Patron she usually brings a light jacket just to throw on real quick to deal with the chilly atmosphere. The Mexican paintings on the wall and little knick-knacks on the shelves and walls were a bit cheesy too. They were very plastic looking and looked pretty cheap. El Patron also has a television to watch for when you're waiting for your food but they only play channels that speak Spanish so watching television was out of the question. After a short wait our food came out steaming hot and smelling very delicious. I got the Californian burrito which was freaking huge! I mean this burrito was as long as my fore arm and was about three inches wide, filled with shrimp, steak, chicken, re-fried beans, rice, grilled peppers and onions, then topped with cheese and green chilly. The food was very hot and very satisfying. With fresh ingredients and the prefect amount of spices and large portions the price was perfect my burrito was only about 10 dollars and my girlfriend's quesodilla was only 6 or 7 dollars and it came with re-fried beans and rice. But she did say that her quesodilla was mainly just cheese and not too much chicken. To say the least I would say El Patron has some amazing food, free salsa, and great prices. Although the restaurant was a bit chilly and they could at least play English television for their customers and they could use a little remodeling for their dining area with a little less cheesy and plastic decor . If I was to recommend anything at all about El Patron it would be to order out and enjoy the awesome cheesy Mexican food at home. With the portions this restaurant gives you anyway you won't want to get up and move around for a while anyway. read more

if you are looking for good food stay away from el patron in chalmette, la. what a waste of money!!!!!! food sucks prices are high for the lack of quality in food and service...over charged and two employees could not figure out how to correct!!! if you do choose to dine check bill prices compared to memu.maybe thats how they operate over charging for the crap they call mexican food what a joke!!! if you want good mexican food then drive to kenner-casa garcia. or northshore -mi mamacitias. excellent food service and staff knows how to operate register the drive will be worth it read more
