Service was slow. Appetizer chips were a joke and fit for a child. The food and price did not match. Won't be returning. Business has been steadily slowing down and it's clear why.

My sweets and I came here after a funeral. The choices were here or La Hacienda which I reviewed a LONG time ago but looks like it has fallen flat on its face lately and then this one. We weren't particularly fired up about either one so since I haven't been here, I said lets do it. I am not a margarita person. I am not a Tex Mex guy. I am not a Taco Bell Mexican fan. I am enlightened and I enjoy the real deal. The plus side. It was fast. Nothing atypical about a Mexican place. But it was kinda scary fast. Looks like lots of seating. It used to be a hog trough....aka Ryans Staff seemed friendly. The bad. Its meh. Wasn't horrible but I don't plan on coming back. It was mostly for my pie hole and it did the job. I was stahvin hongry. Well we both were. Niether of us got sick. There is better places on the WB.

Went on a Sunday for lunch as a party of 3. We walked in and were seated immediately and greeted also. The lobby was moderately clean and there weren't very many people inside. Our server was moderately attentive but seemed bored. They offer lunch "specials" all week which is interesting because most Mexicans restaurants that offer lunch usually include rice and beans and this place does not. The food was ok but nothing special. The complimentary chips and salsa weren't good as the salsa was too cold when served. We ordered a small guacamole and it needed salt and I guess just flavor. The fajitas were good and smelled delicious- it included shrimp, chicken and steak and was a very nice portion size. I believe it was close to $15. I had the sp 12 I believe for $10 and it included an enchilada, a hard beef taco, refried beans and rice. The taste was just ok. My sister really enjoyed her burrito though. The drinks were had included a large coronarita which was $20 I think and it was pretty good (can't really mess this up). I sipped the large sangria margarita purchased by my lunch dates and didn't really enjoy the taste but it was pretty strong. They only offer 4-5 different types of tequila also so don't expect a full bar. We also had $7 jimador shots. The parking lot is a shopping center lot so there's ample parking. This location used to be Texas roadhouse.

Never really had bad experiences with El Paso until now.. why would you put Queso on the bottom of the bag under all the food! I was lookin forward to the queso it's my favorite thing.. check your bags before you leave because this is disappointing

I was very disappointed with my food today I always go ever now and then and get a side of chips and cheese. Well today I order that with a large side of Queso cheese and paid 8.25, for this lil side of cheese I always get a large and never pay 8 dollars just 5. I ask the crew members and she told me " this the new size " I felt like I should of receive two for 8 dollars.

I was wandering around Marrero when I had a burrito craving and I remembered that a new El Paso had just opened up, so I headed over. I thought I was safe going to lunch during a Saints game, but I was wrong- the lot was packed making me immediately feel bad for La Hacienda De Leon, located right next door with their mostly empty parking lot. This El Paso building was built for the restaurant and it's just gorgeous. There's a HUGE patio that is perfect for happy hour and Cinco de Mayo celebrations and the inside is really big as well. As packed as the lot was, I was expecting to have to wait for a table, but I was seated immediately. I already knew what I wanted, so I placed my order and the waitress came right over with warm chips and salsa and refried black beans for dipping. I was starving, so the chips, salsa and dip definitely hit the spot. I like El Paso because they have lunch specials 7 days a week, so I happily got the burrito supreme lunch platter which comes with a burrito stuffed with beef or chicken (I got chicken), rice and a little side salad with guac and sour cream. The food was delicious and it was a perfect serving for lunch and I could tell that all of the ingredients were fresh. I don't know what they put in the sauce at these places, but it's consistently good. I know that some food snobs hate on restaurants like this for not being more "authentic", but El Paso is locally family owned, so I'm happy to eat here. The staff was very attentive and the waitress checked on me regularly and overall my experience was fantastic. I'm glad that they opened another Westbank location, so I don't have to go to Algiers to get my burrito fix. I love my Tex-Mex and I will definitely be eating here again.

the food was great and flavorful! I liked the good vibes with the upbeat music and how kind all the waiters and waitresses are. I don't even like beans and I sampled some of the black bean dip and it was literally amazing!!!! I will be back here for sure

Came in Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. Place wasn't too busy and Service was pretty good the waiter was friendly and attentive. The chips and salsa were decent, chips were fresh and warm. Ask for the hot salsa it's very spicy but good. As for the entrees Ima have to rate this place a 3.5/5 stars. The beef chimichanga was ok and the fish and shrimp tacos- the flavors were a bit on the bland side but decent. Overall a decent place with decent food. Nothing mind blowing though.

Not crowded at all, though a few persons arrived after us. Love all the natural light. Karla seated us and brought our drink orders - soda and tea ($4.15 ea) - promptly, and some tasty salsa and chips. We asked for a minute to review the menu since it was our first visit. From here it just missed the mark. Server was on the phone to the side of the bar so we waited, and waited, for our order to be taken. Chips and salsa ran dry, as did my husband's soda. We ordered the Special Texas Plate ($16.63) - beef burrito, enchilada and chalupa - and a side Shredded Chicken Enchilada ($5.19). Food came out pretty quickly, and we were offered more chips, which we declined. I wish I had taken a picture. The burrito and enchiladas were swimming in red sauce. It really took away from the taste of the food. The chalupa was very tasty, with the guac topping. Quantities were perfect for the 2 of us to share. Check out went quickly, once we got her attention. While location is great for us, and I love the interior, the pricing is WAY off for the quality/quantity of the food, and service is lacking. Check that box.

Today I wanted something different and inexpensive. I checked Yelp, saw it was right there, and had to talk myself into it because I eat tacos ALL the time... like I'm lowkey taco'd out. But something about authentic tacos on corn from a lil shack like this? They hit different. So I went with my move. I looked at the menu and saw tongue tacos... and that sold me Mind you, I NEVER had tongue before. But I said I wanted something different, so let's stand on that. Pulled up around lunch--about 3 people waiting. There's an option to call ahead too. I waited a few minutes, but they acknowledged me quick, and you could tell they were working, so I wasn't tripping. Ordered 3 tacos: tongue (of course), shredded beef, and pork. Threw in pupusas because why not--it's been years. And a melon juice. Total was about $29, got my number, waited maybe 8-10 minutes. When they handed me the bag... it had a little weight on it I already knew. I ate in my car since there's no real inside seating, and started with the pork taco. Now listen... pork tacos can be DRY. I don't really order them for that reason. But THIS one?? Juicyyyyy. Like juices-on-my-shirt type juicy (I'm too grown for that ). Flavor was there, shredded perfect--they changed my whole outlook on pork tacos. Then I tasted the other two because they looked similar. First one ended up being the tongue... and babyyyy. Tender. Soft. It reminded me of goat--real rich and flavorful. I can't even believe I tried it, let alone LIKED it. I'm officially sold. The beef was good too, but after that tongue taco? It was hard to compete, I'm not even gonna lie. That red salsa? Flavorful with a kick. I love spice... but spice don't always love me back Still worth it. The melon juice started off a little grainy (you can tell it's real fruit), but once it settled, it smoothed out. Super refreshing. Now them pupusas... I did NOT expect two. That's why the bag felt like that Stuffed with meat and cheese, crispy on the outside, soft inside. Came with the pickled cabbage/carrot mix and that tomato-based sauce--everything worked together. Not spicy, just balanced. Only thing I'd note--no prices listed, but for everything I got (plus that big 32oz drink), it was honestly worth it.

Then she brought out chips and salsa bottles, but no dish to put the salsa in. The wine opener and menus stayed on the table the whole time until I handed them back to her when the food arrived. She also did not bring napkins so we grabbed the paper towel roll off of the bar counter top. She did tell us at the end while we were cashing out that she is new. The food itself was really good! I thought the tacos were excellent- the barbacoa was juicy and seasoned well - perfect little street tacos! My husband enjoyed his burrito- it was solid. I ate the other half for dinner later. The loaded fries were ok. The al pastor meat was the best part. We were already full so ate about half the fries. Overall not a horrible experience because the food was very good. My husband ordered grilled fish tacos and an ala carte cheese quesadilla. The food was great. Lengua was a little dry- I know it's lean but it was not as juicy and gamey as I like. No other complaints except the guacamole that came with my tacos tasted artificial or "off". It also stayed very green throughout the meal which tells me there is either a lot of lemon or it is premade with something to make it not oxidate like fresh avocados. It was just not great guacamole. The frijoles charro on the other hand were excellent! Lots of flavor, pork, cooked nicely and seasoned well. I could eat that by itself. I will for sure be back.
