One of our go to places on the westbank. The atmosphere, food and service are always good whether we sit inside or outside. There's usually bands playing and don't let the parking lot fool you this place is big. That parking lot can look full and there's still tables available. Wows me that they have so few stars but I've noticed people only really seem to review it when they have a complaint. So I guess in this case 48 reviews is a good thing! Well, not such a great experience for pick up the second time we ordered. Tried to order through their online tool, but isn't very user friendly, gave up and called. Enchiladas Rancheras ($15.99), which according to the online menu, is 4 beef and can be substituted with chicken or cheese & onion. No rice or beans included. Asked for 2 beef, 1 chicken, 1 cheese & onion. "You want onion on all of them?" "No, just the cheese like on the menu." "You want them cooked?" "No, raw onions is fine." Ordered a children's beef burrito meal for the rice and beans. Chips were fresh, salsa tasty. Beef burrito, rice and beans were all good. Beef enchiladas were good. This restaurant was great in the beginning but last several visits the quality in customer service and food has down graded. The waitress and waiters would rather talk and joke around with one another rather than tend to their tables where their tips depend on it. No drink refills, napkins, forgetting entrees and getting the orders wrong. There are so many other options for Mexican food and this is no longer one of them. Last night was a disaster at El Paso. We've been regulars there, but after this, we're done for good. We were seated quickly, which was the only positive part of the evening. As soon as I headed to the restroom, my fiancé ordered our drinks and a large queso. When the waiter finally arrived with the drinks, he looked like he was terrified to approach us. We brushed it off, but it was clear something was off. When our entrees arrived, the queso was still missing. We mentioned this and asked him to remove it from our bill, but he didn't apologize or show any concern. His attitude was dismissive and unprofessional. Throughout our meal, he completely ignored us. He didn't check on us, didn't refill our drinks, and only approached us when we flagged him down to ask for refills. After asking for a refill he rudely asked if we were ready for our check. After a messy card payment issue, he gave us an update which we appreciated then to top off our experience we weren't offered any boxes to box up our leftovers. To top it all off, this morning we discovered we were charged twice. Now we have to go back to the restaurant to fix their mistake. The service was abysmal, the food was mediocre, and we've had enough. We'll never return to El Paso again. read more

Went on a Sunday for lunch as a party of 3. We walked in and were seated immediately and greeted also. The lobby was moderately clean and there weren't very many people inside. Our server was moderately attentive but seemed bored. They offer lunch "specials" all week which is interesting because most Mexicans restaurants that offer lunch usually include rice and beans and this place does not. The food was ok but nothing special. The complimentary chips and salsa weren't good as the salsa was too cold when served. We ordered a small guacamole and it needed salt and I guess just flavor. The fajitas were good and smelled delicious- it included shrimp, chicken and steak and was a very nice portion size. I believe it was close to $15. I had the sp 12 I believe for $10 and it included an enchilada, a hard beef taco, refried beans and rice. The taste was just ok. My sister really enjoyed her burrito though. The drinks were had included a large coronarita which was $20 I think and it was pretty good (can't really mess this up). I sipped the large sangria margarita purchased by my lunch dates and didn't really enjoy the taste but it was pretty strong. They only offer 4-5 different types of tequila also so don't expect a full bar. We also had $7 jimador shots. The parking lot is a shopping center lot so there's ample parking. Absolutely horrible service. I've come here for years and never been so disappointed. My server never introduced herself so I'm not sure her name. I was there for 2 hours and literally saw her twice. Someone else had to bring our drinks, our (incorrect) food order, and even small things like water and napkins. The manager was not much help because he "had to also run the food line." I was wandering around Marrero when I had a burrito craving and I remembered that a new El Paso had just opened up, so I headed over. I thought I was safe going to lunch during a Saints game, but I was wrong- the lot was packed making me immediately feel bad for La Hacienda De Leon, located right next door with their mostly empty parking lot. This El Paso building was built for the restaurant and it's just gorgeous. There's a HUGE patio that is perfect for happy hour and Cinco de Mayo celebrations and the inside is really big as well. As packed as the lot was, I was expecting to have to wait for a table, but I was seated immediately. I already knew what I wanted, so I placed my order and the waitress came right over with warm chips and salsa and refried black beans for dipping. I was starving, so the chips, salsa and dip definitely hit the spot. I like El Paso because they have lunch specials 7 days a week, so I happily got the burrito supreme lunch platter which comes with a burrito stuffed with beef or chicken (I got chicken), rice and a little side salad with guac and sour cream. The food was delicious and it was a perfect serving for lunch and I could tell that all of the ingredients were fresh. I don't know what they put in the sauce at these places, but it's consistently good. I know that some food snobs hate on restaurants like this for not being more "authentic", but El Paso is locally family owned, so I'm happy to eat here. The staff was very attentive and the waitress checked on me regularly and overall my experience was fantastic. I'm glad that they opened another Westbank location, so I don't have to go to Algiers to get my burrito fix. I love my Tex-Mex and I will definitely be eating here again. read more

Came in Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. Place wasn't too busy and Service was pretty good the waiter was friendly and attentive. The chips and salsa were decent, chips were fresh and warm. Ask for the hot salsa it's very spicy but good. As for the entrees Ima have to rate this place a 3.5/5 stars. Came here for lunch today around 11:30 with my 2 cousins, aunt and a baby. We were seated immediately and it was pretty quiet inside, not many customers. Our server came by and asked for drinks and we were brought out chips with salsa and a bean dip as well. We all decided to share and got an order of fajitas (chicken, shrimp, steak) and 2 orders of fish tacos off the lunch menu. The fajitas came with a soup which I didn't try, but I think it had like beans and sausage maybe? The fajitas itself came out on a sizzling platter and comes with a side of tortillas (3 flour or corn, your choice) we ordered an extra side so we tried both the flour and corn. The sides for the fajitas was rice, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes. Overall pretty good, meat wasn't tough/over cooked. Lacked a bit of flavor, but we added some salsa and it was fine. Fish tacos comes with either soup or rice and also a side salad. Side salad is just some shredded lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, cheese. I didn't see any dressing in it. I got rice with the tacos which was actually pretty good. The tacos itself came with the grilled fish, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese. I'm not sure it had any sauce, but it tasted very fresh. It wasn't soggy like I've experienced with some fish tacos before. It lacked maybe a creamy spicy sauce on it. That would've made them great! We asked for a spicy sauce which the server bought out. It was more spice and no actual flavor, it was a bright orange color and a bit watery; but add some of that and salsa and it works! Our server was friendly and attentive. It was my first time here and it was a overall nice family lunch. We weren't rushed and we were asked if we wanted refills on drinks, etc. I've read other bad reviews before but my experience was the opposite. Maybe I got lucky, who knows. I have been a fan of many of the Mexican restaurants that have sprung up in the city of New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. Now I am a yellow cheddar cheese kind of guy but if the white cheese and sauce can actually taste edible I am all for it. I ordered the ground beef quesadilla and it was mighty delicious! The cheese and ground beef made for quite a great meal! The chips and salsa were good as you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. I would like to give a shout out to our server. I love love live El Paso as a restaurant (the pollo loco is my favorite), but tonight was pretty horrible. Our server was great, but after a while we realized that she would be gone for a while. It wasn't at all her fault. The restaurant was "short staffed," but we saw servers sitting at the bar watching us tell her that the food was freezing cold. We were restaurant workers having dinner with each other and once the manager found that out, he made the other servers help our server out. Beer was cold..as it should be. The chips came with salsa and a bean dip that was pretty tasty. My combo plate was pretty good as well..now ur wondering y the 3 stars? Well...for some odd reason they decided to leave their huge double entrance doors open which means it.was pretty damn hot n muggy. Next my crunchy taco was laid down on the plate which made one side soggy..thats the worst! My actual soft taco came wrapped in paper for some reason which it even softer..all in all the food was good enough for a return visit when it's cooler or when the front doors are actually closed to allow cool air to circulate. read more

I am not even from here. I am staying in New Orleans for Vacation and was in the area. I decided to try this little spot out. First off, it was nice, cool with AC and clean. I liked the chill vibes. After seated our server Francisco greeted us and got drinks going. The drinks were tasty and had just the RIGHT alcohol ratio unlike most places. The food was AMAZING! So much flavor and yummy vibes. I also had a shot of patron that REALLY hit the spot. It was my birthday and I couldn't of asked for a better meal. Let me talk about the staff....our server Francisco was AMAZING however the hospitality didn't stop there...the teamwork and attention to guest detail from this establishment was beyond customer services! I didn't even tell them it was my birthday. THATS HOW GOOD they already made me feel! Price was very affordable for this amazing experience! My wife and I frequent this El Paso Restaurant regularly. When I rate a restaurant I look for three things... price, quantity of food, and quality of food. This restaurant used to be a 4.5 - 5.0 star in my opinion. My experience today has changed my mind. We ordered the Pollo Loco for my wife and the chicken fajitas for myself. Neither of us eat rice, beans or tortillas so we modify our meals to match our eating plan. My wife usually orders extra vegetables and I order extra salad and guacamole in place of the rice, beans and tortillas. Today we did the same. Normally they would not have any problems with this substitution. Today again was different. They substituted for my wife, but charged me an extra $6.95 for extra salad and guac in lieu of the carbs. This would not normally be an issue, however, the additional $6.95 added to the already 30% increase we noticed on the meals, and the decrease in size of the portion was a lot too much for me to accept. Usually, the chicken fajitas have plenty of chicken on the plate, but today if there was 3 oz of meat on the plate it was a lot. So to pay $17.99 instead of the regular $13.99 the chicken fajitas used to be and then the added $6.95 for the added salad is just too much. I understand that COVID has caused moderate price increases, but this is ridiculous. Another issue we had was, I found an avocado stem in my food, that hurt my tooth when I bit into it, and my wife found a french fry buried in her food. What a surprise for someone who doesn't eat carbs! As a result, this loyal, very frequent customer will not be back! Sorry El Paso, but your food is not that good to justify that kind of increase! Went there for taco Tuesday and when they brought out some bean dip for us , I knew it was over. The beans tasted like they been cooked with hot dog water. Absolutely disgusting. When the tacos came out ( we got the steak ), the meat was chewy and bland. The cheese and lettuce on it literally taste like cardboard. I've been to this location twice. First time was with a party of about 15. Second time was a table for two. I have to say they are typically very quick with service. After taking an order of 15, EVERYTHING came out exactly as ordered. I took one star away because the second visit wasn't as quick. We had to wait about ten minutes to get the frozen margaritas. But the food runner made a comment about how much food I ordered and said "Wow, girls eat a lot". He also made the comment after serving my boyfriend his steak quesadilla plate that "this is all for you?" I ordered one chicken flauta, one tamale, and a cup of tortilla soup. Because it was plated on multiple plates I guess it looked like a lot of food but come on? Don't disrespect someone when working in a restaurant about their food order.
