8/21. I've eaten here 4 or 5 times, with results of 3 to 4 stars. The spicy burrito with chili con carne on top is delicious.  The jalapeños poppers are really good. Their guacamole is pretty good too. More recently, I did a take out for a few ítems. Their caesar salad was awesome, with avocado. I had Their enchiladas which are kind of tasty, too. Beans and rice ...average.. Here's what I had a problem with. Their picadillo, or hamburger as the server said, is not good. They use it in tacos, and burritos, and enchiladas and the times I've had it its not good. Here's why: its over salted and underseasoned. Its probably made in bulk and reheated as needed. Looked too dark, and the consistency is mushy. It should have garlic, onion, chili's, and cumin, and you can't taste any of that. Just salt. It's a nice place, friendly servers. More attention needs to be paid to the seasoning of food this is supposed to be. read more

Love the ambiance and the food is good not great, but good enough for a casual comfortable place, and enjoy a good margarita, chips and salsa. Plenty of parking, friendly service. However, the last time we were there in May--noticed two payment discrepancies a couple of days later on my bank transactions. At the time--I used my debit card (charges were correct at the time), I signed a merchant receipt (kept my copy) and left a 35% cash tip. My original purchase was higher and there was an added tip. I contacted the restaurant and email the restaurant to correct the overages and no one got back. So, pay with cash or avoid Marissa as your server. Not cool. read more

Final Straw Longtime customer (+10 yrs) and originally stopped going when,several times, they actually added to my credit card tip which was already 20%. Recently returned and tonight wait staff changed tv channel at bar, we were the only customers at the bar, without asking our preference, as I was watching tv. She put on mexican rap music for her non-customer boyfriend and their 2 infant children after changing a stinky diaper. Lesson to restaurant/bars - the tv is for the paying customers. This place might have the same owners as El Mesquite, but if I am comparing the two, there is really no comparison. I stopped in here for a quick lunch. I was on limited time so I was happy that I was seated and my order was taken right away. I like that the chips and salsa are free- it was nice to have something to munch on while I waited. I got the chicken taquito lunch platter which came with four taquitos topped with cheese and sour cream. The platter was okay but I found the taquitos a bit too greasy for my liking. I would say it was definitely worth the $8 it cost and it was decent, but I don't know if I would order this dish again. The waitress was attentive the entire time, probably because I was one of only two customers here. Something weird happened when I went to pay the check. I paid in cash and my change came to $11.25. When the waitress brought me my change, she only brought me $11 and she kept the $.75. It's not a huge deal- it's only $.75, but I just found it strange that she took it upon herself to keep it. Maybe it was just an oversight, who knows? I would have mentioned something if I hadn't been in such a rush, and that's not why I rated them three stars, I just want future customers to be aware. I probably won't be back. Next time I am in the mood for El Mesquite, I will just go and get the real thing. read more

Yep, I have been wearing this location out with visits. The food quantity and quality is very good. Much like Jennifer B. says in her review, it is the Marrero version. Yeah for us. Authentic, not texmex, Mexican food. If you wanna know more about the selections and pics, just check out that review. I havent had any issues here at all. The serving staff has been quick and friendly. My kids like it alot. The location, if you been here before for Boudreauxs and the place that it originally was, Teaxas Roadhouse, well the interior is still the same. Just has a few Mexican blandishments scattered throughout. Now the huge painting of the buff Mexican guy(which kinda looks like me) makes more sense in this version than it did in the last two places. hehe. I havent had any mixed drinks or margaritas so I cant comment on selection or taste. Come on in and check it out if your burned out on Dos Gringos, El Mexicano, Taco Bell in the Marrero area. read more

First time coming and was highly disappointed. The waitress we had was not friendly at all - seemed like she didn't want to be there at all. The food came out and was TERRIBLE. Seriously tasted like a TV dinner type meal. I wasn't expecting fancy, just something good. My husband and I literally took a couple of bites of our food, paid the bill, and left... hungry. Of all the Mexican style restaurants I've been to around here lately, this is by far the worst. Don't waste your money. Better off going to Walmart and getting one of those frozen dinners! read more

This basically is El Mesquite, but located in Marrero. Same owners, exact same menu (seriously, even the same numbers for menu items, only difference is the name on the cover), and same staff. Since this is closer to my house, I'll probably go here instead. They don't seem to be nearly as crowded as El Mesquite either, but that may be because nobody knows it's here... or because it's in Marrero... Either way, we visited last week for the first time and had a good experience. Good food, quick service. read more

Best fajitas I ever had. They don't give u many shrimps it mostly be steak meat. I think the chicken should be seasoned because it has no taste.... They don't give u much. Cheese came out cold every time we ordered it... In order to get more meat I don't get any of the sides.. but overall this is the only Mexican restaurant I eat at. read more

Been here many times but this last visit which was last night, Tuesday, August 23, 2017. It had a LOT to be desired. Wait staff slow, uninformed & don't know how to give change. Food was terrible!!! Salsa tasted like tomato sauce with very little seasoning. My facebook post to La Hacienda: you guys have the best margaritas in the world. we eat at your restaurant ALL THE TIME. when it was my turn to pick, my book club met the other night and the bill was in the three digits. mom and I popped in for lunch with my 2 year old a couple of days ago. we ordered our drinks, an appetizer and lunches. For my 2 year old, he only likes rice and beans but can't eat an entire order of rice and an entire order of beans. So, as usual, I asked for a half order of each. You have done this before for us so I was shocked today when the waitress refused to. They are both $2.50 for the al a carte. It isn't the money as much as it's just a waste of food. My meal had rice and beans as did my mom's. It's not like I was asking for an expensive dish to be prepared and only get half of it. There are bins and bins of rice and beans pre-made in the back. you don't cook rice and beans to order. I was told that the "manager" wouldn't allow it and she'd have to charge me for a full order of beans and a full order of rice. Really? With my appetizer, that was a $30+ lunch. So we paid for our drinks and left. Why, really just why? Was it that important to be paid $2.50 for a plate of something you have just sitting back there? We said ok, but after a few minutes thinking about it, we realized that that was pretty crappy of the "manager" and we asked for the check for our drinks. See, Los Tres Amigos and Dos Gringos both do this for my son and you guys have every time i've asked. Instead we went to Los Tres Amigos and lunch was great. I've always enjoyed Mexican food, and when I heard that El Mesquite was opening a new location closer to me I was ecstatic. I've always enjoyed El mesquite and have never had any issues with it. Well, lets just say DEFINITELY not the same experience. We started off with the typical chips and salsa as usual. Tasted the same as usual. Received the menus and looked at them, exact same menu as El Mesquite just with a different cover. I ordered my nachos that I always ordered with the queso instead. Didn't take long to receive them and same set up without the queso. I nicely asked if I could get queso and they brought them back to me with more than enough. Was very delighted. Needless to say, 5 minutes later there was a long, black strand of hair in my food. I'm a server and don't complain when stuff happens a lot but that just grossed me out to the extreme. I politely told my server and all he said was "would you like another set?" Really?! Yes I would like another set of nachos with hair please. I said no and he brought our bill back. Didn't even offer to discount my food that I barely ate. I'm sorry at the restaurant I work at, the manager would have came and comped the food. But nothing here. Sadly I will not be eating Mexican or Hacienda or El mesquite for a long time. They just lost a loyal customer because of their poor attention to detail. read more

This is definitely my favorite Mexican place on the Westbank. I have eaten here an embarrassing amount of times since they opened a couple of months ago. It's not a very fancy place and the decor looks about the same as it did last time, but I love the food! Everything that I've tried was delicious, except for the chile rellenos. Their margaritas are delicious, but don't order the large unless you are really in the mood for a drink. We couldn't finish ours! I got here right as they were opening for the day so maybe my fajitas were fresher than the other review but they were excellent. Very flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly so as to retain plenty of juice. It was spiced just right. Not too hot or too bland.
