Known about this place for years but have rarely been here. I stopped with a bunch of friends and sat for some frozen drinks on a warm day of bike riding. The atmosphere is a nice backyard with friends. The frozen drinks are great but the food is kind of mid. Its primarily a college bar so we didnt stay long and let the kids have their fun. read more

Great place to watch a ballgame with friends. The setting is open air with tables and chairs plus big screen TVs positioned throughout the property. You get an eclectic mix of fans. Glad they are still open even in Phase one! They have a huge parking lot which I LOVE bc New Orleans has lack of parking in general and I hate having to park on side of the road. The entrance to the parking lot is on Second street. This place is sooo cute with all their lights and they have heaters and fire places. This spot will always have a special spot in my heart as we hosted our wedding welcome party here. They let us have the big back room/bar for our whole crew. They were so easy to work with to set up our party, run a tab, keep the vibes friendly all evening, and just be the perfect welcome to New Orleans for all our guests coming into town. Tchoup Yard gets 4 stars for the delicious and strong drinks, and the fun, chill atmosphere. I love going here to watch football games. You can chose in or outdoor seating and there is an ample amount of space. However, their version of the Crunchwrap I ordered was absolutely terrible. There was no cheese and too much sour cream. The chorizo had no taste and I've never known a tasteless chorizo. The Tator Tot Nachos were a very unique take on nachos and were very good. The chicken was seasoned well. The place has mixed reviews... and I could c that.... 2.5 stars I have been here a couple times. (pre-Rona, and recently... during 'Rona) Its a good place if you have a large group, get a table and if you are lucky enough to get good service. I have experience that before, though mostly on the negative.. I have had really bad service here before, and some of the servers have attitudes. If they cleaned up their act and had better training across the board the place would be a lot better. It can be hit or miss. read more

Great place !!! My group of friends found the outdoor seating area extremely relaxing and fun to watch a football game on a Sunday night. We were a party of five and Shelby was our server and she was absolutely delightful , fast , efficient , and professional . The chef inside was kind enough to let me taste a small sample of their beef and it was absolutely incredible and tasted just like moist brisket. So we ordered that with the cheesy tater tots and everybody at my table agreed that it was outstanding. I opted to drink the Froze which went down entirely too easy and I had to order another one. If you are visiting, this place is like a giant outdoor patio and a frat party. There is a food truck, corn hole, lots of seating, multiple bar areas and yummy food! They have frose and I tried the iceberg which is a frozen margarita topped off with some draft modelo. I really enjoyed this place and would recommend checking it out. Some time ago, while in New Orleans to fish, eat and gamble, I finally met my Yelp friend, Shannon S., in person. Shannon graciously invited me and my fishing partner, Keith M., to join him and some co-workers at Tchoup Yard for a drink, and I was happy for the company of new friends, but I didn't find the venue as comfortable as I'd hoped. There were inconveniences: one was required to serve oneself at the crowded bar, and then to step gingerly over a stretch of gravel to find a seat among a ragtag array of picnic tables and patio furniture. And that evening, the Yard's crowd was a distraction: mostly fit, white, noisy, a little snooty, and young, too, with that demographic's fondness for TV, shouting and cornhole. [n.b. At 58 years old, I might have been the oldest person there, which, I suppose, explains my crankiness about the environment.] Nonetheless - and I freely admit that this proves me a contrary cuss - I liked the place. The barman, sun- and rain-sheltered by a sort of lanai, did his job with skill and youthful charm, providing me a Bulleit Rye Old Fashioned and talking up the neighborhood. Food was provided by a truck parked on the Yard's perimeter. He still shows up, but now, I understand, Tchoup Yard also offers "pop-ups" and a kitchen whose respectable reputation is growing. There were no mosquitoes or biting gnats to plague us, but it was an early, breezy mid-October evening, so we might just have gotten lucky. And, importantly, once my friends and I were ensconced at a table away from the bar crowd and the games, we did pass a pleasant time together. The Tchoup Yard's vibe was backyard barbecue. I stopped in at Tchoup Yard on Friday night for a birthday party... and this is a great spot for a gathering since it's HUGE! In fact it takes up an entire city block! I like that there are so many different spaces to enjoy, from being indoors to being out in the open to the firepit area (it was a little chilly on Friday) to being on a covered porch. Something for everyone. AND the outdoor spaces are dog friendly so I made a couple of dog friends! There's a huge selection of beer for the hop heads but there's also non-alcoholic and a full bar for the folks who prefer something else. There's also a food area. My friends were allowed to bring in cupcakes for the birthday fella. And remember this is a bar space so it's 21 and over and they card EVERYONE, even those of us who are more than 2x the age minimum. I have been to one private event here where they took over a whole section (of the parking lot maybe) and set up a stage so that was fun! There's a good sized parking lot along the 2nd street side of the property... although the address is on 3rd street, there is no entrance at that location. read more

We were at the tchoup yard when it was close to closing time, and a worker told us the bar was closing soon. We walked straight to one of the bars, and when we went to order, the bar tender said that they were closed 20 minutes ago. They didn't close for another 30 minutes, but said that they said last call 20 minutes ago. I've never heard a NOLA bar say last call was an hour before the closing. Then a person working there came to our people and said that the place is closing soon so we should leave. How rude! I gave a 3 stars because the yard is awesome and the frozé is delicious! read more

Great atmosphere! There are awesome legit fire pits that will keep you warm during a cool Nola winter. This allows for ample outdoor seating in the time of this pandemic. Also they have food trucks most nights...when I was there a great place was cooking in the inside bar-had Karibu kitchen and for 10$ had a very filling Crunchwrap supreme ( it was not really a "crunch" wrap and more soft flour taco style). it was great! read more

Rarely do i give out 5s but i dont have anything bad to say abt this place. Great space to hang when the weather is nice..or not..bc they do have a really nice indoor space. They recently added a fire pit which is always nice on a chilly night. The staff is super attentive..always someone walking around clearing off your table as you finish your drinks. Beer is always ice cold and they have in house food options. The tatet tots are fantastic...not just the plain ones from your middle school cafeteria...u can get them loaded with all kinds of goodies. Great for groups and its pet friendly ( dont really like this feature but i cant ding them on it). read more

We came here on a Saturday night with a few friends. It was pretty crowded, but we managed to find a table to sit at. When I tell you we turned the night into a turn up! I had about 3 margaritas and a shot. The drinks were really good. Like really good. The entire vibe of the Tchoup Yard is really cool. My favorite part is all the lights hanging from the tree. I was sooo looking forward to spending some time here. The time they closed via yelp was 12:30. We arrived a bit after 10. We got a drink and joined our group. As we sat all the chairs around us started getting put up. Which is a direct sign to get the heck out of there. They were closing at 11. I get wanting to do side work before, but it really made us feel uncomfortable. There also was a rather large rat running around. He was making his way under the tables outside. Then inside. I don't think the staff knew he was in there. But he seemed to know his way around. I would for sure go back. But I would go early so I could take some photos when the chairs aren't put up around us. read more

What a fun and cozy place. Loved the outdoor fire pits. The food portions were huge and were quite delicious. The pork quesadilla was certainly enough for two people to share. This place is magical. We were in an Uber and we just told our driver to take us someplace cool where the locals drink. He dropped us off here. Without him, we never would have found it. The Tchoup (pronounced "chop") Yard has a huge parking lot. Once you enter through the gate, you'll see lots of outdoor tables with chairs stationed on gravel. Grab a chair under the pretty dangling lights and get comfortable. (If you prefer, you can stand at the bar and watch a football game on TV, but the tables are great.) It was a hot night in NOLA, so we ordered frozen margaritas. For $7, you get a giant glass. It made for the perfect night. Although there seemed to be just one server for the entire outdoor area (weird) and we had to flag her down repeatedly to order more drinks, the atmosphere was so perfect and the cold margaritas tickled my taste buds so right, I'd be back again in a heartbeat. In the corner, a lonely man stood offering food truck-style grub. No one seemed to visit him, which made me sad. As the night wore on, we were attacked by an endless parade of mosquitoes, but I didn't care. This was just about perfect. Douse yourself with some bug spray before you come and you'll be fine. I will say the music generally sucked. Jimmy Buffett is for old pot-heads who wear socks and sandals. The crowd was people in their 20s and 30s, so I don't understand the choice. Again, it speaks to how powerful the atmosphere was that I didn't mind the shitty, mellow island jams. As I sat here, it felt like I was transplanted to one of the ultra-cool laid-back bars of Austin, Texas - a place I love more than my own mother. Once the secret gets out, it'll be overrun by anyone with good taste and a powerful thirst for booze. Until then, enjoy a little slice of heaven in the Crescent City. read more

Tchoup Yard is the newest addition to the bar scene right off Tchoupitoulas Street nestled in-between Second and Third Streets. It features a huge courtyard with a rotating offering of food trucks. Fun is afoot with a great selection of draft beers, frozen drinks, wine on tap, wine in bottles and plenty of mixed drinks. Tropical breezes from the river help cool down the patio and keep the enjoyment going. This place is so new they don't even have the phone connected or a website yet. I love Tchoup Yard, this is the perfect spot to gather with a large group of friends, sip drinks outside, watch football games, or even do Yoga on Wednesdays. The giant frozen margarita is strong, delicious, and cheap. They have rotating food trucks, and now a permanent kitchen for karibu kitchen which makes delicious adult crunch wrap supremes. Chorizo crunch wrap supreme is basically one of my favorite things to eat. They have string lights everywhere, lots of TVs, and corn hole (baggo). They have a large parking lot and will let you leave your car there overnight if you Uber home. They have tons of heaters and fire pits for the winter, they also set up large tents. So glad I finally stopped by Tchoup Yard yesterday. It's the perfect spot to go to on a sunny day when you just want to relax with friends and have some drinks. I haven't been at night (yet) but I'm sure it's just as fun. There's plenty of outdoor seating, yard games and some TVs. My favorite part about Tchoup Yard was the Frose because I'm basic. Basic-ness aside though, it was really yummy and refreshing. Dogs are welcome too, which I thought was cute. I personally don't own a dog, but who doesn't love day drinking, hanging with friends and dog watching? I didn't try the food since I had a full meal before I came here, but given the reviews I definitely plan to try it next time. The service was fast and quick and prices are reasonable IMO. One other thing I'll comment on is the clientele. Yes, there were some bro-ey, college students there as some reviewers have stated. With that said, I kind of feel like once people have been out of school for a couple of years they suddenly dislike college students and forget that they too were once college students and stick their noses in the air. If I'm with a good group of friends and the drinks are flowing, I don't care if there's some college kids around. Btw-this is coming from someone who is 25 years old and the people I was with were 29+, so it's not like I'm saying this because I'm a college student myself. Plus, Tchoup Yard is spacious enough where you can distance yourself if it really bothers you. So, all in all I really enjoyed my time here, look forward to returning again soon, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun spot to hang with friends. read more

Beautiful venue. Multiple bars with a huge outdoor area with seating, games, lights, and fire pits. The scene has definitely changed since it first opened, much more college kids now. Draft beer comes in a chalice like you're applying to the Goblet of Fire. Be careful, just watched a girl's hair catch on fire. But the food is what I'm here to pur you on. Chef White originally running a pop up kitchen, called Karibu Kitchen, at Pineapple Willy's. He now runs the permanent kitchen inside at Tchoup Yard. He comes up with his own unique creations each week, but his staples are his take on the Crunchwrap Supreme and Totchos (aka tatertot nachos). Both are great drunk food. Also here are various food trucks. One to look out for is Taceaux Loceaux. They were named some of the top tacos in Nola, and they are definitely my #1. I highly recommend you get the brisket tacos, out of this world. Last bite: crunchwrap supreme with some of his homemade Tacobell sauce. read more
