I have decided to create a whole new listing for this place for a few reasons:…read more 1) After many attempts to mark the original listing as "NOT closed", Yelp has decided to ignore my pleas, making it impossible to check in here. 2) The bar is under completely new management and is a totally different bar than it was when I first reviewed it. I figured: a new day, a new dawn, a new listing. If that is fine and dandy with the powers that be I will continue with my review. Arriba arriba!! I love what they have done with the place! On the Rocks now has two rooms! The main bar area and the DJ room. The pool tables have been moved to make way for dancing! They play Latin music here now, as well as typical top 40. There are always people salsa dancing (I wish I could) and I do my own version of dancing which is basically strutting around the dance floor to (kind of) the beat. Look, I can't dance that well, okay? I have yet to name my style of dancing but it WILL take the world by storm one of these days. White girl strut (trademark pending!)? I don't know. I'm working on it. The space next to the dance floor has been raised onto a platform that is now complete with a sofa for relaxing and hanging out. There is also a sitting area in the DJ room if you want to be closer to the music. Overall the bar is clean and the people are super nice and friendly. The Bud Light limes (Westbank gonna Westbank) have been replaced by Modelo, which is fine by me. Definitely one of the better Westbank hangouts, so be sure to drop in and check it out.

Upon walking up I was advised that I would have to be frisked prior to entry. This is normally a sign telling me to leave immediately, but I decided to give it a shot. As far as friskings go (I've been frisked a lot), this was rather uneventful. He could have done a better job if he was genuinely searching for weapons, but I guess it was more of a deterrent than anything else. Once inside I learned that this was not a place for me. The bar is separated into two different areas. One room contained the DJ, pool tables and an incredibly disturbing laser light show. It reminded me of the laser shows I used to attend in New Orleans East, but with much different music. The DJ didn't seem to speak English so requesting that he play "Marrero" by MC Thick was somewhat pointless. The DJ also made frequent use of some sort of synthetic horn noise that was horrendous. The second room is where the dance floor, bar and odd stage area were. The dance floor was huge. If one wanted to dance to the beat, there was plenty of room. The bar wasn't bad and there were a couple of cocktail waitresses ensuring you got the beer you wanted. The stage area was odd. There were a couple of couches, but there was also some sort of pole as well. While everyone I encountered was friendly, communication was difficult. The cocktail waitresses spoke limited English and most of the customers were conversing in Spanish. Would I go back to On the Rocks? Maybe, but there are many other WB bars I would rather visit.

It was reminiscent of my childhood fave candy, Tart-n-tini. It is their signature drink, made of Absolut Pears, Triple Sec, Apple Pucker, Creme de Violette & fresh squeezed lemon. Yum! This bar has swagger! The velvety bar stools are stylish & comfy. The background music is upbeat & makes you feel like you're on a mini-vacay. They have 3 flat screen tv's in the bar area, which help to detract from the minimal crowd. But... This spot has only been open since Nov 2010, so the clientele is just building. The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!

Thirteen years calls for an update, no?…read more Sometimes I forget that this cocktail paradise lies on the very edge of the French Quarter. Admittedly, I have other regular stops these days, not for a lack of love or anything, these things happen. But Bar Tonique is a forever favorite, a worthwhile stop before a concert at the Saenger. The best place to stop, along with the Black Penny, on Rampart if you want a good cocktail. We stopped in on a hot Sunday late afternoon. What a refuge! The bar had plenty of seats, and the people in there were a nice mix of locals and cool tourists that don't want to spend their drinking day on Bourbon Street. Drinks are so fairly priced. In a time when cocktails are upwards of 20 bucks even in NOLA, it's nice to see theirs cost considerably less and they have a solid HH with $8 cocktails (rotating specials). Not BS beer and a shot or well drinks, but actual expertly-mixed drinks. And frozen Ramos Gin Fizzes if that's your thing (not mine but I get it).

Not to mention they will take whatever tip amount they like out if you forget to close your tab. Really disappointing experience…read more Vue honestly felt pretty bare bones to me. Yes, I learned some things about the culture and people of New Orleans and I got a few good pictures but I wouldn't recommend this at all. I was hoping to get a picture with my sister as indicated on the website but I didn't see anyone offer that or see it as an option once we made it there. I thought the mini story in the elevator was fun, short of course but they need to restructure this place I honestly was unimpressed. The website suggest it takes an hour and a half to experience the whole place, we walked the whole place, took pictures, watched 2 videos in well under an hour and a half. The employees were very nice and helpful; maybe I expected to much of Vue but I say temper your expectations.
