My previous review for Vive! is totally the reason we're not allowed to write reviews and publish them from the Yelp smartphone app(s). At least I use full sentences and don't write in L33T speak, but still. Two sentence review? Bad Jess. Let's try this again. Yes, Vive! is in fact a chill, W-esque bar in the Le Marais hotel in the French Quarter. It's a part of the New Orleans Hotel Collection, and located on Conti Street, about a block away from where Patrick's Bar Vin will be when it opens. (Which I am anxiously awaiting, by the way. Ever since I heard about it last year. Soon I hope!) There's a courtyard attached with a small saltwater pool, and they've got this chic black wicker furniture outside. The bar itself has a bunch of huge, brightly colored armchairs, and the place is kind of colorful and slightly trippy in general. If you like the sort of hip, modern, funky aesthetic, you'll like this place. When I was there, they had some interesting drinks on the menu. I had some kind of purple martini thing that was tasty, and would make an EXCELLENT LSU drink if they added a lemon, and were into that sort of thing. There was also a lavender champagne cocktail that I wanted to try. Hopefully it'll still be on the menu next time. This place is super new, and in fact when I was there they had JUST gotten the courtyard furniture a day or two before. If you're in the French Quarter and are looking for somewhere chill and non-touristy for a drink, this is an excellent option. The bartender Shaun was super nice. Sometimes hotel bars can be kind of cool, and this is definitely one of those times.

Awesome bar to start or end your night out. If you are staying at Hotel Le Marais this is the bar where you cash in your complementary drink. While it is quiet, we were never bothered by this. However, we were a group of 4 so we were entertaining each other. I even made a friend at the bar that we kept running into during our stay! On the day i checked in we headed to the bar to cash in our complementary drink i went with the Bubbly Vive - Chombard and Champagne! Talk about a celebration! These will sneak up on you so take it easy. I also enjoyed one of the best drinks I've ever had, St Catherine (unfortunately I did not take a pic). The bartender turned on the music. He even gave us a complementary snack! We took our second round to the pool. Don't forget to dump your drink in a plastic cup or ask the bartender to make it in a plastic cup for you. This is a more intimate bar really targeted for the guest of Hotel Le Marias but don't you let that deter you. You need your room key to gain access to the hotel after 11pm but they have great happy hour specials. This is a beautiful bar with great patio furniture and beautiful lighting at night. We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Le marais and enjoyed this bar on each of our visits.

The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the appetizer we had. They lost a star for only having one no alcohol beer and zero no alcohol wine.

I would recommend dinner at GW, drinks at Vive, then live music at Irvin Mayfields.

Very friendly and well aware each time we finished our drink and needed a reload. They're well-trained in the art of concocting the Sazerac we love. Sitting for 2 hours watching the regular turnover of the precious seats at the Carousel is still big fun. And having a friendly chat with the constant turnover of strangers sitting next to us is part of the unique charm of the Carousel Bar. As we were leaving Corey the bartender let us know management is shutting down next month for a few weeks for much needed repairs & renovations so the Carousel can add another 50-60 years to its legacy.

There is a small bar bites menu - the Cubano was tasty but a bit overpriced at $18. The service was okay. We ended up getting water from our server that brought us food as the bartenders were too busy making cocktails. There was a jazz band playing on Thursday night when we visited.

The space is absolutely stunning--flooded with natural light from massive windows that offer breathtaking views of the French Quarter and the mighty Mississippi River. The vibe is relaxed and inviting, with smooth Neo soul music playing in the background that made it easy to settle in and get some work done. I kept it simple with soda water while plugging away on my laptop, but my wife enjoyed a fresh salad along with a burger and fries, which she said hit the spot. The real standout was the service; our hostess Barbara greeted us with such a warm smile and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. We're already planning to come back in the evening when they have live piano music--hoping it amps up the energy a bit more. If you're looking for a spot with expansive views and a chill atmosphere, this place is worth checking out! More to come after our next visit.

We ordered drinks for the most part, and the price point was not really bad for a hotel bar- about $16 for regular drinks like vodka soda, and about $26 for doubles.

No music, no food service, or anything that shows that tried to create a nice vibe. It's literally just some chairs on the rooftop. The bar has a bartender, not mixologist, who makes drinks that I can make better at home. The little drinks are served un-garnished in tiny plastic cups and cost $15+. Not to mention they will take whatever tip amount they like out if you forget to close your tab. So my basic plastic cup of lemon, sugar, and a splash of vodka (I can't even call it a lemon drop) was $20. I wish I had taken a photo of how tiny the cups are.

Yes, I learned some things about the culture and people of New Orleans and I got a few good pictures but I wouldn't recommend this at all. I was hoping to get a picture with my sister as indicated on the website but I didn't see anyone offer that or see it as an option once we made it there. I thought the mini story in the elevator was fun, short of course but they need to restructure this place I honestly was unimpressed. The website suggest it takes an hour and a half to experience the whole place, we walked the whole place, took pictures, watched 2 videos in well under an hour and a half. The employees were very nice and helpful; maybe I expected to much of Vue but I say temper your expectations.

Admittedly, I have other regular stops these days, not for a lack of love or anything, these things happen. But Bar Tonique is a forever favorite, a worthwhile stop before a concert at the Saenger. The best place to stop, along with the Black Penny, on Rampart if you want a good cocktail. We stopped in on a hot Sunday late afternoon. What a refuge! The bar had plenty of seats, and the people in there were a nice mix of locals and cool tourists that don't want to spend their drinking day on Bourbon Street. Drinks are so fairly priced. In a time when cocktails are upwards of 20 bucks even in NOLA, it's nice to see theirs cost considerably less and they have a solid HH with $8 cocktails (rotating specials). Not BS beer and a shot or well drinks, but actual expertly-mixed drinks. And frozen Ramos Gin Fizzes if that's your thing (not mine but I get it).
