Words cannot fully describe Bertha's Place. This place is definitely a spot for locals, and is open really late. When we first arrived to NOLA, we were looking for some place close to our Airbnb that was still open, and this place was packed and filled with fun vibes! Its a bar, restaurant, and dance club! Everyone was very welcoming, and it was a fantastic beginning for our short stay in NOLA. The DJ was amazing! One bop after another! We ordered Yakamein which is apparently a unique NOLA noodle dish with Chinese roots that was really homey, and was exactly what we needed that night. We also ordered fried shrimp and oysters, and those were really bomb. On top of a bunch of fries it was a great deal for the price! One of our favorite spots during our stay, and we'll be back to say hello to Bertha :)

Good ol southern juke joint! I had fun here. I noticed the lounge while trying to get to Bourbon St, the place was packed on a Saturday night so wanting to party w/the locals and not tourists this place looked perfect. It's 25 and older and definelty an older crowd in here, which from time to time I can appreciate an old school party. They played a variety of music genres and even took requests. All the employees were friendly and they knew we weren't from around there. We ordered drinks and left. We then came back after Bourbon street because the owner told us that they never closed! Which at 4am these people were still going strong. We ordered more drinks and then we ordered chicken to take back to the hotel w/us. I wanted fish, but it was sold out. THE FOOD HERE IS GOOD!!!! Chicken came w/fries and a salad at 4am! This place is the bomb for late night creepers like myself. We came back a 3rd visit on the next day and was treated the same like family. We engaged in convo with the bartenders & they remembered us. I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in town!

YOU MUST BE OVER 30 TO COME TO BERTHA'S! It's a neat small bar with enough space for dancing and a very popular kitchen. I'm finally here for TAPout Tuesday! All You can drink for a few hours!!! I've been dying to come here, I think I'm gonna be coming back however I just had my first tap out drink and it is very strong!!! This is going to be fun!

What can I say....... Bertha's Place was the highlight of our girls trip to NOLA!!!!! We loved it so much, we went 2 nights in a row. Bourbon St was not our type of crowd. Bertha's Place was recommended to us and we felt right at home. We felt like we were from NOLA. Grown and sexy environment and everyone is there to enjoy themselves. Not to mention the fish platter was outstanding!!!!

Tap out Tuesday! No words can explain how intoxicated we were. Can't beat $10 entry fee and unlimited drinks. We also ordered some $10 wings that was overflowing and some $12 shrimp that was soooo good! This hole in a wall is excellent!

I met some conference attendees that mentioned visiting a bar to get a local experience so I decided to tag along. This is a hole in the wall dive bar for the locals. The bartender was borderline rude so I kept my distance. I received a couple of free drinks - apparently a local regular bought the bar a couple rounds. I was unexpectedly served a fried fish plate which consisted of a piece of fish and potato salad. The fish was right out of the fryer and was seasoned well. I later found out that the fish plate was a Monday night special that you received when you bought drinks.

Thank you Ms. Bertha for showing us a good time fore my birthday ! And the great food !a necessary stop when visiting New Orleans !!

It had the perfect mix of sweet heat and flavor. Both drinks were so good we ended up ordering two rounds while sitting at the rotating bar listening to a live jazz band. Watching the bartenders work while slowly moving around the bar made the whole experience unique and entertaining. Definitely a must-visit spot in New Orleans.

If not, there are plenty of other comfortable seating options scattered throughout the bar. On the weekend, there's always an amazing band playing and they often encourage dancing. We were there after jazz fest, and it was extremely crowded so we ordered the bar, took our drinks and found a comfy seat in the lobby where we could chat. We may have seen someone famous while we were there so always keep an eye out. It is a popular spot for people visiting the city.

On a previous trip we had seen an evening show at Snug Harbor and wanted to experience something else. We had read good things about the Spotted Cat and their sets run all afternoon. We were a little confused about price because one of our guidebooks said there is no cover but you're supposed to order drinks. There was a doorman who charged us something like $5 each (still cheap!) and we ordered beer and a N/A drink at the bar and listened to a great jazz group playing old-time jazz. Interior is tiny and you're pretty close to the performers. We were standing at first but eventually found some seats as people left. There is even a back courtyard if you want to be outside, although I don't know if you can hear the music or not. We bought a CD from the band and enjoyed it when we got back home. All in all, a great New Orleans experience.

While the Sazerac wasn't invented here, this is arguably its most iconic home, a place where New Orleans cocktail history comes to life. I would use this version as your gold standard when dining out in New Orleans and looking for a perfect Sazerac. We enjoyed watching bartender Rachel craft each drink. Rye whiskey, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar are stirred in a small pitcher with ice. The serving glass is chilled, then emptied, and finished with an absinthe rinse along the rim. The cocktail is strained into the glass and topped with a lemon peel. The atmosphere makes the experience even better. The murals, the history, and the energy of the room give it a sense of occasion that you do not get at most bars. We had such a great time sitting at the bar that my wife and I each finished two and a half Sazeracs, which tells you everything you need to know.

It is a little on the pricey side, but after several days of eating in the touristy area of the French Quarter, this was truly a welcome change. Service was polite and attentive. The ambiance is amazing, plus velvet, emerald and sapphire tone, glitzy, and feels like a good photo op. The bar and cocktail menu looked expansive. However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. I think this is a fine place if you're looking for a photogenic night out drinking with a group of friends. Could be really cute for brunch!
