My first night out in New Orleans, and the worst experience I've ever had. I politely asked the bartender for a glass of water, and he started to be very rude to me. He continued to say very mean things to me, such as "I hope you get shot in New Orleans." This was all because he didn't want to give me a glass of water. We were looking for a low key hang out for NYE that offered reserved seating and entertainment. There were 4 in the party so I ordered 4 tickets. After placing my non-refundable tickets I quickly realized that a ticket covered the whole table. We laughed it off and just figured we would enjoy the perks (free champagne) that came with each ticket. That night the manager emailed me and asked if I really needed 4 tables and when I said no, quickly refunded my extra ticket prices. I really really enjoy this place. The atmosphere at night has such a good vibe. First off, it is has quite a large space with picnic tables and lots of seating outside. There's also an inside seating area. Second, the frozen margarita is a favorite of mine!!! It comes in a huge glass and you can't taste any alcohol (which is a dangerous game). It's a good drink to split with a girlfriend. I absolutely love the Christmas lights and string lights that really set the mood for a good evening. I think I've seen people playing some games like corn hole. A note is that it is 21+ and they check ID at the door. Also, there's a sizeable parking lot which is nice (make sure to have a DD!). Finally made my way over to Tchoup yard and I have to say, I'm a fan! It has a chill backyard vibe to it, which makes it a perfect place to spend a summer/ fall evening with friends! The whole space is much bigger than I imagined and it has lots of picnic tables and TVs on to watch sports games. It also has a big parking lot so you don't have to worry about street parking but I heard a lot of people bottoming out when they were leaving the parking lot so be careful if you have a low car! There is also a lot of street parking in the area if the lot gets full! The drinks at Tchoup yard are awesome and very reasonably priced for what you're getting! I got a beergarita (a huge margarita with a beer in it), which was delicious for $11! It was a huge drink so I recommend splitting it or just not drinking anything else that night! My friend got the Bushwacker (pretty much a frozen chocolate shake with alcohol), which was also delicious but sweet for $8! They also served Yuengling's in large goblets for $4! The Tchoup yard also has different places come in and serve food. They sometimes update what food will be served on their Facebook page so I recommend checking it out! The night I was there they had Moe's bbq serving wings and pulled porked sandwiches, which people seemed to enjoy. I highly recommend checking out Tchoup yard if you haven't already! Ok. A story of love, betrayal, and reconciliation. My original 5-star review is just below. Really love the vibe of this place, etc. Came in July 2018 and ended up with the wrong tip on my card and got all indignant up in there (I'm a grad student and in the service industry so I have basically no time or money and felt hurt to be taken advantage of by a place I considered a friend!) Was contacted almost immediately by a manager who explained it was a complication of moving to a new system, and offered me amends and asked for me to come try them again. He even offered to venmo me the entire cost of my original purchase, but the difference between my original tip and the wrong one was a dollar and that seemed unnecessary. So, in a show of good faith, I brought a couple friends I *knew* would dig this spot by, Tchoup Yard got us a few drinks, I felt redeemed for my troubles and Tchoup Yard won my business back and a few new customers as well. Updating my review. I visit here OFTEN. I bring people that visit Nola here OFTEN. I come here because I like the drinks, atmosphere and frosé, OFTEN. I live right around the corner so it's very convenient. I can not say that I have had a good service experience OFTEN. Never greeted warmly by the bartenders. I went to Tchoup Yard last night to check out, what I envision will be, the hottest new bar of the summer. One thing I liked as soon as I got here was the parking- there's a huge lot right next to the place, so you don't have to worry about stumbling around in the dark looking for your car in heels- perfect. As soon as we walked in, we immediately noticed that the crowd was a young college crowd and we were probably some of the oldest people in the place by at least 8 years. I'm not sure if this is going to be a regular thing; I think once word gets out about the place there will be a good mix of different types of folks here. The bar was nicely packed at 9 on a Saturday and we were happy to find a table somewhat close to the bar. I can tell they are still working out the "kinks" of the place, but I like that the drinks are served in frozen goblets, they have a good beer selection, they have frozen margaritas on tap (and they are actually good!), and the bartenders are fast. Even though we started at a table, we moved and sat at the bar as soon as there was space. It was a pretty warm night, and although they have some ceiling fans at the bar itself, it was still hot. I can't imagine how this place is going to feel once summer really kicks in. I would suggest maybe a few industrial fans out in the "garden" part of the bar, in order to keep the air moving. One thing you should realize going in: the entire bar is outside. The bar itself is covered and then there is a huge patio with tables and chairs and I think they are going to have food trucks nightly. I can see Tchoup Yard being a lot of fun once the cooler weather kicks in- I look forward to enjoying a beer here on a crisp fall evening. read more

Nice outdoor spot! There's a huge parking lot. Food trucks will satisfy your nutritional needs. Reasonably priced draft and bottle beers, and there are "wines on tap." Also, the drinks are huge. Pace yourself accordingly. Or not. Turn off Tchoup at Second St. to walk through to parking lot to the entrance. Otherwise your Uber drops you off on Third, and you have to walk around the block to get in. read more

Tchoupitoulas is one of the most absurd names. So it makes sense this place is called Tchoup Yard. You might as well take advantage of it...too good to pass up. It's your typical outdoor biertgarden/yard. Tons of space, lots of tables and plenty of bar space order a drink. It kinda reminds me of some bars I saw a lot of in Dallas. It's probably native to spots with good weather year round. The real highlight for me was their food vendor inside. Seriously some of the best "bar food" I've ever had. It was amazing. I don't remember their name but I do know they have a separate Yelp listing. And yes, they do make homemade crunch wrap supremes. You should go to Tchoup just for them. read more

Love the food and atmosphere. Reason for the rating is that the management is extremely lacking. We tried to call for reservations four times, requested a spot online only to be told when we arrived that there was no room and that we had a 45 minute wait. I get that these are trying times but all I needed was to be told no dice before driving all the way down. At least respond to calls/email! Came to Tchoup Yard to watch the Pels-Warriors game after a couple bars were over crowded and we are glad we did. Drinks are VERY reasonable (18oz drafts for $5.50-$7.50) but the atmosphere is excellent. You walk in to an open and inviting large U-Shaped bar backed by a couple dozen picnic and round tables with covered and uncovered seating in a beautiful open space. Would love more TVs, but probably hard to do. Back bar looks to be in a converted garage of some type with large roll-up doors with excellent bar area and lots of comfortable seating and plenty of TVs. Did not have any food as we had dinner plans, but will definitely be trying some next time. Absolutely perfect if you want to chill and watch a game inside, but still feel outside without sweating and dying in the LA heat. I freaking love this place! This is my new favorite NoLa hangout spot. It is a large yard on Tchoupitoulas (go figure) that features tons of outdoor seating, TV's, some yard games, and sometimes food vendors. They have an outdoor bar that is dog friendly and an indoor bar with a small food counter. The indoor area is impressive with high beams and an open floor plan. The food counter has typical bar food. But there are sometimes food vendors outside. I love their Frose. It is strong stuff. They have a huge selection of beer and liquors. Plenty of parking as well. Love the outdoor space. The lack of greenery was off-putting when they first built the space. But I love it for one reason: no mosquitoes. Plants trap moisture and provide shade, and that's where the critters like to hide. They don't travel far, otherwise. That means a big gravel lot is a great place to avoid them. In the two years or so they've been open they've massively grown and improved, so that every time I go I'm impressed with the improvements. The firepits in the winter are nice, as is the indoor restaurant. The food (chorizo crunch wrap supreme, ftw) is good. The space is like a constantly improving Transformer. The only drawbacks: crowd is sometimes very young and stupidly drunk. And the beer selection is fairly weak. This is really a "grab a cold one" kind of spot. But I'd be able to get a lot more of my more classy drunk friends to come if there was something a little better on tap. read more
