The Tchoup Yard is dope. I came here last Saturday for college football and it was a hit. The giant $5 beers are clutch and then when you couple it with a Crunchwrap Supreme from their kitchen your weekend is made. The burgers, quesadillas and waffle fries here are also phenomenal so don't be timid with the calories when you come. I absolutely love it here. The indoor and outdoor spaces are perfect for loud and fun group settings. No table service but the cheap drinks make up for the constant trips to the bar. I have to rave about the food for a second. Bar food is usually whatever in my book and I rarely order quesadillas because well, a bad quesadilla can ruin your night. But there's is not to be missed. The chicken is slow cooked and divine. Perfect for sharing. The tots are crisp and delicious. The portions are huge! And the service is quick. One of my favorite bars in nola. Haven't tried the food yet since they opened their new building not too long ago but I've heard all of the food is great, especially the crunch wrap supreme. Beer selection is great on top of reasonable prices. The best time to come is at night when they have all of their patio/party lights on. I had some really high hopes from this place. My roommate raved about it and said she was there every weekend last year, my friends from my grad school program had gone the weekend before and couldn't stop talking about how good the food was come Monday morning. So we get there and we immediately see it's packed, half the bar was wearing a purple LSU shirt; my friends then told me we "have" to get a frozen margarita (before I continue keep in mind I went with 4 guys). So we go to the bar and I immediately hear groans from all of them because apparently it's the a-hole they got last weekend that was super rude when they ordered Margz. From what they told me he was UPSET they ordered so many margz the weekend before and was very annoyed when serving them. Well he was already off to a poor start when I was there, completely ignoring all of them. So I decided to put on the marsh charm and made my way to the bar and he verbatim told my friend next to me as he tried to order "I'm taking her order first because she's a woman." Yes. I know women get paid attention to more but this guy had clearly ignored my friend for 15 minutes until I came there and that's way too excessive. So of course when I order I order for all of us and when I hand him the money for MY frosé my friends behind me had all their money to give to him too. Well Mr. Snooty starts counting my cash (my friends' hands still all up in the air with their cash and cards) and yells at us, "guys this is just $8 what the f is going here?" In a very accusatory tone. So yeah no tip for guy with the stache. Later on I found out the best thing you can do is go to the bar inside. Well next up on the agenda was to go get food. We were there at 11:30 and there was NO food because they were already closed on a Saturday night?!?! The food truck there was the same deal. So I was really disappointed about that...lastly, the food truck when leaving almost ran people over. They reversed into a table with people in it and didn't even bother to apologize. I'm giving them 2 stars because apparently the margaritas are good (the frosé sucked) and the ambiance was good. This single yellow star is only because I can't leave this scathing review without one. I didn't want to come here because I knew the crowd was a bunch of washed up frat boys, but I was looking forward to enjoying a beautiful evening with friends. After some tolerable 90s music, the music got very country so I kindly asked the bartender (maybe a bar back... I don't know) to switch it up a bit. He tells me, "Well... I can't and the reason is racially charged". I ask him not to tell me because I knew it would be hard for me not to lose it. He goes on to tell me that "the country music keeps certain people away." Hands down one of my favorite places to drink and hang out in New Orleans. I love the amazing decorations during the holidays and the amazing options of indoor and outdoor. I've been during the summer time when it's really nice out and there are plenty of seating outdoors with games and food trucks with reasonable prices. I've also been during the coldest day of the year where they have indoor seating with heaters as well as outdoor fire pits and heaters to keep everyone warm. The drinks are very reasonably priced the service is great. They have multiple TVs to watch the game and tons of parking. I also love that it isn't full of college/Tulane kids (it does sometimes) but generally, the crowd is really nice and doesn't get too rowdy. read more

This place is great! They now have an indoor bar area with pool tables and couches and TV's. The old outside BBQ/kitchen type place is now inside and it looks like they are doing a great job! I got the food last time and it was delicious! I love all the different chandeliers over the bar. When you go inside, I feel like your not even in New Orleans anymore, even though if you're from here, your bound to see at least 1-15 people you know. I really like it here! Obviously outside is awesome, too. New Orleans needed more outdoorsy places to go to, especially when the weather is nice. Perfect place to gather up the group for some drinks! There's seating indoors and outdoors. During winter, there's a center bonfire to keep you warm. The seating is very spacious. Perfect to accommodate small and large groups. I love the ambiance of the yard. The colorful dim lights perfectly light up the mood for drinks with friends. Did I mention, they also have food. I came here for my birthday and ordered these cheesy tator tots. I don't remember much, but I think they were delicious. read more

This is always a favorite spot for me and my friends! There's a ton of outdoor seating and it's very dog-friendly. They also have heat lamps for when it gets kinda chilly out. Also a great place to go when it's rainy as there is a really spacious indoor area as well. Great beer and service. Also a great place to catch a saints game or any other sports games. This is probably my favorite place for a night out with a group of friends in NOLA. It can get crowded on Saturday nights if LSU is playing with all the slums in the area but must other Fridays and weekends are great. They added a new indoor area in the back with a food stand, couches, bars and more TV's on top of the original bar they had. It always feels like a night at the park with picnic tables and it's well-lit with Christmas tree lighting all around the property. Highly recommend! read more

Bar doesn't close for another 30 minutes and they were incredibly rude in telling people to leave and didn't allow us to close our tab, automatically charging us whatever tip when we tried to close before them forcing us out. Cool. I like this bar so much. ^^^ SO that was the draft of the review my drunk self started writing the other day at the Tchoup Yard. That's as far as I got because I probably continued enjoying myself as one margarita turned into 4. If you're outdoorsy in that you like getting drunk on patios, this place is for you. Huge outdoor space, plenty of tables and chairs, really cool lights at night. My favorite part about this place-- the margaritas are bomb--and they serve them in those big fishbowl glasses which just makes everything better. The bartenders were all friendly, personable, and actually took a little bit of time to chat with me. They were also playing great music (good ole rock n roll)--a major plus for me. I was always under the impression that this was the kind of bar that only catered to underage college students, LSU fans and only played annoying "New Country" music...I was wrong. I finally got to check out the Tchoup Yard over the weekend and I'm glad that I did. I'm also glad that it wasn't a million degrees outside. This is the perfect fall and spring outdoor space to hang out with friends, having some drinks, and enjoy the beautiful weather that we're blessed with outside of the summer months. I understand that the Tchoup Yard recently added several TVs, which made football watching a pleasant experience. The LSU win also helped. There's a very chill vibe to this place, which kind of reminds me of the patio area at the Bayou Beer Garden, except bigger. There are foot options that I think come in on a rotating basis. The night I went there were two different tables set up with different choices. I got a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was nothing amazing, but totally satisfactory for what was needed. On a pleasant day or night, this will be a great place to bring a group of friends. I'll definitely be back. read more

I came to Tchoup Yard Saturday evening (6/1) with 3 friends and the guys at the door would not let my male friend in because he was wearing a tank top, citing that it was in their dress code. First of all, I would not think that an outdoor, casual bar in New Orleans (I thought this was the Big Easy??) would have a dress code. Second, it was OVER 90 DEGREES. My 2 female friends and I were also wearing tank tops, because like I said it was hot AF outside, but only his tank top was the problem. Makes complete sense. Stay classy, Tchoup Yard. read more

I love this place! Best outdoor bar in the city. They have an awesome selection of beers on tap (which they give to you in a chalice- hilariously makes me feel like an old time king) and a full liquor bar as well. There are two areas, one inside one outside which is great for when it's raining. They have great varied seating (ie round tables, picnic benches, high tops) so you can find the perfect spot for your group size. There's also a section set up with cornhole which is so fun! As another bonus the food is AMAZING, I got the spicy chorizo "supreme wrap" and it was to die for. Would absolutely recommend you come!! read more

Finding it may be a bit of a challenge (address on Third, with entry on Second), but once you do, you'll be glad you did. Very large courtyard with a full-service open air bar with cocktails and great beer selection. Step up to the bar or take advantage of the table service. I had so much fun in this place 2 weeks ago. Came here thanks to a friend inviting me over but how come I did not know about this hidden gem? 1. I loved the atmosphere: It was not like the Boot in Uptown with only college students age range. It had a great deal of folks in their 20s to 40s. I loved how everybody could hang out without feeling uncomfortable. By no mean do I hate college students (I was one once too duh!) but what I meant was that you will not encounter people grinding or making out hardcore around the bar. The interior of this place is lovely too and clean and super roomy bathroom is a plus, of course. 2. the price of the drinks are really really amazing: I ordered "a glass of Merlot" and he brought me 1/3 of a bottle :) Halleluja! My friends got like Margarita and other spirits but they said it was all thumbs up. Coming back to this place soon! read more

I know that no one cares what we have to say... because it seems multiple complaints have been made. The service industry is tough and so is working with the public. Massive out door space with adequate parking! Great for large groups since there is an endless amount of seating and games. Plenty of picnic tables and lawn chairs to choose from. The beer and margaritas come in big chunky plastic chalices and they even have those margarita drinks with the mini beer flipped over in it. It was delicious and tart. I suggest sharing it with a friend unless you are a champion drinker. It was only $11. I have always wonder how they able get that beer in there without spilling it everywhere. I love the massive trees with lights strung around them. Has a tiny bit of that "drinking in the woods" feeling to it. The staff there all seem happy, fun, and drunk. VERY RUDE SERVICE! We were the only black table in the entire yard and our white waiter walked passed our table multiple times and overlooked us as he served the other 3 picnic tables in our section.
