I like a lot of salsa, so we asked for more and she kindly gave us more but kind of weird they don't give out more. Seems wasteful to use the small containers. This is one my top mexican restaurants in the area! I loved this little hole in teh wall. We came here because we were on our to drop off people at the airport in Kenner and I had read some good things about it from Ian McNulty. Anyway, it was around that in between lunch and dinner time and it wasn't too busy. It started to get busy quickly though the closert to dinner it got so be aware of that, this place is small. This place is also very loud. I noticed the speaker was right above us and the more the girls behind the bar did shots, the louder the music went. It made for a fun atmosphere so just be aware of that when you go too. We had the best, freshest guacamole. I don't know what made it so good, but it was good. I could have ordered 3 of those. The chips were just ok. The salsa was decent, but not the best. I ordered the molcajetes and those are always so delious. My hubby ordered the chimichunga which is the best in the city. My husband and I recently paid a visit. It was nice to find a full service restaurant at such a late hour. We were also delighted to see how festive it was and loved the music. The thing was, the music was crazy loud, OSHA unsafe levels! It was so loud that the waitress couldn't really hear us to take the order. Extremely poor service and communication. My daughter and I wanted to split the $19.99 mixed fajitas and were charged $29.99. The explanation given was that it was for two people. Nowhere on menu does it state that there is a $10 fee added for splitting. We asked for an extra empty plate and they brought another plate with beans and rice on it. They claim they did not understand what we wanted so that was what our $10 paid for. Also in doing so they knocked over one of our drinks and refused several times to replace it. Nor did anyone offer to help clean up by bringing us a clean towel to wipe up the mess. Finally after asking three times, they did bring us a replacement drink. Also bait and switch with the $4.99 margaritas special billed at $5.99 because of the "flavor". We were with a large party of about 12 and 4-5 of us seated at an adjacent table. The other table was able to do separate checks whereas we were denied because we "had a different server". Our other table was four people and we were charged an automatic 10% gratuity because of that. We had a fifth person join us at same table and, low and behold, they could do a separate check for that person. Food was ok, not stellar as expected by other reviews, and the poor attitude didn't help at all. Avoid. There are many other mexican restaurants in town to choose from. read more

From the moment we walked in, we knew the dinner might fail to live up to standards. We hadn't been greeted and we had to flag down one of the many employees who had been sitting behind the bar to be seated. We found our waitress the entire night to be cold and a bit rude and a musical act had been performing the entire time that no one engaged with or seemed to care for. The food, though, helped to boost this place quite a bit, with quality nachos, salsa, quest, and chicken fajitas. And if you don't like the heat from the pepper ask you have the seeds taken out so you just get the flavor. So glad I stumbled upon this place!!! Y'all have to checkout this lil piece of Mexico. Horrible service to black people. Me my mom and a friend came to chilangos for taco Tuesday and when we came in they acted like they didn't want to serve us. I asked for the $5 frozen margarita and received this watery half filled plastic cup. Then as we were eating our meal, the server came up by our table mopping. She first hit my feet with the mop and didn't say anything. Then she started sweeping the trash under our table. I asked her if she could wait until we were done and she said no and continued mopping. She was very disrespectful and had an attitude. She went and told other employees who stood there staring at us the whole time and she kept trying to argue back and forth with me . This is my second time going to this restaurant. I love their food. Very authentic. Everyone from work came to have lunch here. When we arrived at 12 there was only a few people in the restaurant and our food came out quick. The seafood platters and tacos are delish!!! That is their speciality. Downside is that the music is so loud you cant have conversation and might leave with a headache. But I guess the way to solve that is to order it as take-out. I might do that next time. No need to have that loud music at noon, felt like I was in a club. ;( About the delish food.... So, word of advice....don't order french fries at Mexican restaurant, not their specialty. Another observation is that most taquerias in Mexico serve warm salsa, it means its fresh. They serve cold salsa after its been in the fridge or room temperature when its been sitting out. A warm salsa means tomatoes have been boiled or roasted with chiles, onions, garlic and blended. This is not Taco Bell. In this visit I had the shrimp cocktail and it did not disappoint. I lived near Baja California for 6 years and I tasted authentic Mexican shrimp cocktails monthly. This place got it right! Thank You. The spices in the sauce, size of the shrimp and vegetables were on point. Check out the picture. Soooo good! My boss and co-workers ordered the beef and chicken fajitas. As others have commented the food is amazing and authentic but the service is not great. They might need to change or retrain personnel. The furniture is also cracking and in need of repair. The furniture reminds me of seafood places in Mexico but its way to crowed for this small spot. They need to clean it up a bit. Again...The music was way to loud!!!! We couldn't have a conversation. The food here was fantastic! The atmosphere was great. Mana music blaring the whole time. We ordered the choriqueso for appetizer and it was filled with chorizo. For dinner I had the chicken Gordita with a side of rice and beans; delicious. The only thing that was lacking was the service. Our server had an attitude and didn't check on us once. I'm Mexican and these tacos really hit the spot, the only issue is the size of the tortilla. I went to Chilango's a a few weeks ago for the first time and it did not disappoint! Their food was authentic and very decently priced for the amount of food they give you. Some places I have been to give you half the amount of food Chilango's gives you for two times the amount Chilango's charges you, so I was definitely happy with this place. I absolutely loved their carne asada and their chicken fajitas were delicious as well. I would have given this place 5 stars, but I was not entirely satisfied with the atmosphere. It was incredibly loud because of the DJ so there was not much room for conversation and the tables were extremely close to each other, which made it hard to sit comfortably. I recommend take out or going during a non busy time of the day. Parking was also a hassle because we could not find a spot and the lot was very small. I would not let these things stop you from trying Chilango's though because it is definitely worth a try! read more

I loved this place. When looking for a place with friends to go for Cinco de Mayo naturally we looked everywhere and everywhere was pack when we found this place. It was honestly the best discovery we could've made in my opinion. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was great for me personally feeling like a dive place just for the locals. This is a hidden gem in Kenner. It's Mexican seafood. We had the Oisteronos Veracruz, a dozen oysters, raw, served with lime, avocado and pico. The oysters were large and fresh. We also had the guac, which was delicious. The guacamole was perfectly ripe. For main courses, I had the Shrimp Chilangueros, a dish with large, butterfly shrimp sautéed in a creamy chipotle sauce. My wife had the Shrimp Acapulco, shrimp grilled in a spicy tomato sauce. They have regular Mexican dishes here, but you can get those anywhere. They also have seafood soups and ceviches, which I will try next time. Price wise, it's middle of the road. The oysters were$12.99 and the entrees in the $10-12 range. Not bad considering the shrimp were large and fresh. The drinks were tasty. LARGE margaritas and authentic Cheladas. All this in very kitschy ocean decor. If you find yourself trapped in Kennah and you want something different, this is worth the stop. BTW, the kids will love the bright scenery. read more
