This place is SO awesome, definitely worth at least stopping by and checking out…read more My partner and I were looking for a spot for him to grab a bite to eat on our way to our cabin. Just happened yo stumble upon The Gas Station and decided to check it out. If you love horror films, you'll dig this place. They have so many cool things inside. Tons of rad horror toys and posters and just stuff! I had so much fun just checking everything out. We were quick to find out that it was also one of the filming locations of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The gentleman at the counter was so enthusiastic and informative! It was awesome hearing him geek out over stuff with my boyfriend. After we geeked out over everything, we ordered a brisket plate with a side of coleslaw and beans. Food came out pretty fast. They don't have a dining area inside, but out back they have some picnic tables. He dug into his plate on site. Everything was pretty darn good, especially for a place called 'The Gas Station' hah. Recommend checking out this spot whether you looking for a bite or looking for some cool horror stuff.

You would never think this place sells decent barbecue. Honestly not half bad. They had just finished roasting chicken when we got there and the breast I was given was massive!!! I couldn't finish all of it lol. I also had the brisket which was super yummy! They have two bbq sauces- a regular and a ghost pepper one. I only tried the regular but my friends like the ghost pepper one. The sides were ok... I would opt for potato salad. Chili was meh. Overall not a bad experience. Food came out quick and the outdoor patio out back is nice enough, a lot of flies though.

Another great meal today posing as a late lunch. Likely a good thing as I will not have to eat…read moreagain today. Service was great as always as well. Love the "feel" of the place. Wood floors, tin ceilings and walls and people of all walks of life. Nuthin better!

My friend insisted we go here for lunch because he was raving about "the best burger in town." I…read moreimmediately hit him with, "But I'm a vegetarian!" Lol. Pulling up to Roadhouse felt like I was about to film a low-budget country music video. The aggressively unpretentious energy was immaculate. The all-dirt parking lot said everything! No curated patio, no aesthetic succulents just straight up vibes and dust. The place was packed at 1 p.m. Our server, Raven, took great care of us from the jump. Rave was very efficient, friendly, and had zero attitude. We ordered a basket of fries, a portobello mushroom burger for me, a cheeseburger, a Philly cheesesteak, upgraded side salads, and, of course, their famous carrot cake to share. Now, let me confess something: As a Californian, I walked in with absolutely zero expectations given the facade. And yet... the fries were perfect. The portobello burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying! My friends inhaled their cheeseburger and Philly like they were participating in a competitive sport. Lol. And don't even get me started with their carrot cake. It was disrespectfully delicious! This was seriously the most humbling "don't judge a book by its cover" moment I've had in a while. Roadhouse doesn't need any curated lighting or a reclaimed-wood Instagram wall because the food and service speak for themselves. I drove into a dirt lot with skepticism and left faceplanted by my own bias. Consider me corrected, Bastrop!
