Chips, ice cream and other amazing snacks.
Theo T.

This is the spot to go for snacks. The service is amazing and friendly. Came here with my girlfriend to grab some late night movie snacks. Love that they open so late and still serve thrifty ice cream.

Nasty Desert Waffle Double Scoop

Words can't describe how horrible this place is. I got the nastiest waffle I have ever tried. Nothing like the picture. Missing all the toppings and the only topping i requested it didn't have which was syrup it had. The banana was old and smelled and I show up and he had the ice cream just sitting with the waffle so it was melted by the time I ate it. I will never be coming back.

Bomb! Love this place definitely coming back again.

Esquite with Hot Cheetos

The bombest esquites are at el munchies!!! This is the spot when I'm craving something!! The guy who helped me out is always so helpful and friendly!! No long wait at all !!

Lesly M.

We came here because my son was craving an esquite and we found this gem! The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and even gave us some peach rings with chili to try. They were delicious. The esquite was really good! They have chalk board for people to draw on as well. Very small, clean and happy vibes in here.

Churros and mangonada
Bryant G.

We were very excited when we found the page for this spot. We are big fans of fruterias and wanted to come check out a new spot for some dulces. The place itself is pretty cool, interesting art and a good layout. Their menu is visible and easy to navigate. First reaction we both had was wow, everything is expensive. We put that on hold and decided to try out our favorites. We ordered a magonada and churros. We've had mangonadas probably 20 different places and understand people serve it up a little differently depending on where you're at. As he was almost done making it the guy behind the counter said "hey I'm out of mango, do you want a couple pieces of strawberry or watermelon instead?". You would think when someone orders mango that would be the time to tell them you don't have mango? This was a large cup full of some kind of mango puree, not ice cream and a ton of chamoy with three small pieces of fruit on top. Normally you'd find a scoop of mango ice cream covered in fresh diced mango. Even though I didn't look like what I've had a million other places, decided to give it a try. It had a strange almost chemical taste. Something was wrong It was bitter we both tried it and threw it away. $14 for three spoonfuls of disappointment. I almost ordered the concha ice cream sandwich but saw the conchas in plastic pouches, not fresh. With so many good panederias around making them fresh everyday, I just can't bring myself to eat something like that. The churros were decent, but the picture on the menu showed a cup full of ice cream, whipped cream and sauce with churros stuck in it. What I got was one scoop of ice cream a little bit of drizzle, two strawberries and two churros cut in half probably from a Costco box. This was okay if I had paid $7, but for 14 I expected more. I know where I can get churros made fresh while I watch that are way better and cost less. We wanted to love this place. It just wasn't very good especially at the high prices - we won't be back.

Dubai chocolate covered strawberries

They used cheap chocolate that hardens when it cools down rather than using something like Nutella. Making it such a hassle to eat. The strawberries were wet. My husband took one bite & he was out. I got the ick & stopped eating it too. Also, no pistachio butter.Very dry and unpleasant. For the price, you don't get what you paid for. Will never return. They sell better ones on the weekend at Americana by the mall entrance. That one tastes so delicious that I can't wait to go back. And it's in a much bigger cup with soft chocolate, pistachio butter, fresh dry strawberries, and sprinkle of real pistachios on top. For the same price !! Not very professional leaving condescending Responses to customers as an owner. And I said something LIKE Nutella. Please read carefully. And the chocolate was so hardened we couldn't eat it. Went right in the trash! My husband also said the customer service was zero! No hello and no greeting upon arrival. Good luck with your little shop !

The Jacksons... You win free ice cream on me if you recognize the pattern. Yes, that's right: these are all siblings who have seamlessly worked together in their respective fields. I raise the list to include Mia and Mark Pedersen - the brother and sister team behind the ice creamery Moo Moo Mia with locations in both Montrose and Monrovia. You won't find Mia and Mark bickering or partaking in sibling rivalry; but you WILL find them creating quality, home made ice cream for Angelinos. Mark and Mia made their way from Denmark to Los Angeles in 2009 initially working in a Danish franchise despite both having a background in ice cream-making. When Covid hit in 2020 with its path of destruction to so many businesses; Mark and Mia decided they should cut their losses and create their own company that they can rely on their decision-making and thus Moo Moo Mia was born. Moo Moo Mia strives to produce Grade-A ice cream using crème de la crème ingredients such as milk from Scott Brother Dairy cows (another sibling company where cows roam free on 900 acres and are hormone free producing sensational milk) and offer unique flavor combinations. After a recent poor gelato experience at another LA business; my boyfriend and I decided to reward ourselves with ice cream from Moo Moo Mia on Honolulu in Montrose (this was our second time at this location). Nestled in the charming central Montrose corridor; Moo Moo Mia welcomes with a pastel color wheel façade/signage and a small square footage ice cream shop. When I say 'small'; I genuinely mean small as Moo Moo Mia is tiny with a display case/order counter and a claustrophobic standing room space with a few loose tables outside. This is definitely an "order and get out" establishment. Due to this congestion, Moo Moo Mia felt a bit hectic on both of our visits which always makes one feel guilty to ask for samples in order to not hold up the line. The flavor options at Moo Moo Mia aren't super extensive (there isn't that much to choose from) BUT there do have those unique combinations Mia and Mark boast of with pride. I have sampled a few flavors at Moo Moo Mia such as Honey Lavender (Sweet cream ice cream layered with delicate ribbons of lavender and finished with a touch of raw organic honey - so good with perfect lavender notes!), March flavor of ice cream with Luck Charms marshmallows and Sweet Taro. On our second visit, my boyfriend kept it simple with a single cone ($5.50) of Madagascar Vanilla Bean (Made with imported ground Madagascar vanilla beans) and a kid's cup ($4.25) of March's monthly flavor Coconut Ube for me. Mark and Mia aren't exaggerating about Moo Moo Mia's ice cream as it truly is quite good: creamy, thick and not overly sweet; the texture is perfection. The Honey Lavender holds my heart but the Coconut Ube was also delicious although it tasted of 95% ube with a small 5% after taste of coconut water. Good thing I like Ube! My boyfriend's vanilla was, in his words, "The best vanilla!" and I agree that Moo Moo Mia truly elevates a basic flavor making it extra special. The consensus is that the ice cream is wonderful, no doubt. The customer service at Moo Moo Mia leaves a lot to be desired, however. During both visits the associates were very dry, somewhat curt - although not rude, per se - and are literally only there to get the job done and that's it. Even though this isn't too terrible; it prevents Moo Moo Mia from being a perfect experience. Moo Moo Mia is a delicious and quality option for an ice cream treat that you can truly taste but the lack of numerous flavor options, the teen-tiny shop and the customer service are flaws that keep it from being exceptional. Despite this, Moo Moo Mia is recommended for all ice cream lovers - whether you have a sibling or not!

Got here in the evening. Parking appears limited where I was parked, but I know there are more parking at the town center. Anyway, I got lucky with a close parking spot. No inside seating. Just a couple tables and chairs outside. They weren't super busy at the time. I was the only person in line. This is my 2nd time trying Bruster's. My first time was at their Rancho Cucamonga location. Nick, the staff member who helped me, was very nice and helpful. I asked for recommendations on their best flavors. He graciously offered them. Thank you Nick! I got to sample a handful of flavors... Boston Cream Pie, Sea Salt Caramel, Death By Chocolate, Caramel Macchiato, and Cinnamon. Thanks for the samples! All the flavors were very good except for the Cinnamon which I thought was very light in taste. Since I was driving, I chose an ice cream shake instead of a cup or cone. Caramel Macchiato was my pick! It had a really nice caramel flavor with coffee bean bits. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't pile up the ice cream to the top of the lid. It stopped at the top of the cup. I felt I was shorted some ice cream unfortunately. Hence, 4 stars! Nevertheless, Nick was amazing. His service was fantastic. Wonderful conversation and experience. Ice cream shake was yummy. It was finished before I arrived home. YES, I will come back to try their other unique flavors! Thank you Bruster's!
