Very delicious and charming place. The ambience inside reminds of old times, but there is some spell and fascination in it. When the weather is good (which is often in this part of the world) they serve at a nice terrace. As we are in the area we always go there for dinner.
The policy of El Motel is - freshest ingredients and mostly local, that's why the majority of the suggestions in the menu are seasonal. They offer a set menu that changes daily and that's for more than a reasonable price. But we usually order a la carte, more interesting choices you can find right there. Like partridge for instance, seafood croquettes, risotto with shrimps, or white truffle risotto. Their paella is incredible. We had it once with seafood - freshest and of course not any component was ever frozen like in some places can do so... But usually we prefer meat dishes there; they have quite lovely and peculiar selection, like: hare, thrushes, venison, etc. Normally you won't see such exciting and extraordinary offers in restaurants, but here they have all that.
Cheese cart if you prefer before dessert, local cheeses mostly, but not only. And desserts are marvelous, all of them.
The wine list represents entirely Spanish wines. There are the best pieces from all over Spain, but special attention is paid to local, Catalan wines, especially from the region of Emporda, where actually the restaurant is situated. An impressive choice of cava. The sommelier is very professional and always glad to help you with the best selection.
The service itself is impeccable.
I would give them a Michelin star without any doubts for such a great quality and whole approach.
