I was torn about this one -- I had to give five stars due to the ambience and location, but my entree was lackluster. Anyhow...We had previously had reservations at Talla - the hype is greatly overrated. When we arrived, Talla had trouble seating us, despite weeks of lead time prior to our reservation. SO...we decided to walk along the water and find another place for our special dinner (birthday celebration). We found Sa Gambina and decided to give it a try as they had white linen tablecloths (I always admire a restaurant with linens...) and a gorgeous view of the water and surrounding village of Cadaques. We ordered a bottle of wine, very good, reasonably priced (but that's normal in Spain, especially for Americans), had a starter to split, each of us had an entree, and my husband's dish included a dessert (tiramisu) which we split. My husband said his seafood dish was excellent, not surprising, considering the proximity to the sea (ten paces, maybe). My dish, beefsteak, was absolutely not tasty. It was huge, but completely dry. Our starter was great, the pan con tomate was a nice touch. The desert was delicious, the service was mostly attentive. The owner (I assume) is on property all night and makes his rounds, smiling and checking in with everyone. We do speak Spanish, so we were able to thank him for a great experience. We actually saw him on our morning walk as he was preparing for his next business day. He remembered us, which was flattering and pleasant. I would TOTALLY recommend this restaurant to seafood eaters, and for those who are land-bound, go, enjoy with your seafaring adventurous comrades! The location cannot be beat! Enjoy the wine! read more
