Wanted to go here for lunch with my family but found out they were fully booked for lunch. So we asked to reserve for dinner and luckily they could accommodate right when they open for dinner at 8:15 PM. We were there earlier to check out the seafood selection. You can be view through the window, and we were in time to see them refill the seafood, and wow they were fresh as in still moving lobsters, langostines, razor clams, clear eyed fish, baby squid, clams, and so much more. There is no menu to look at and the cost depends on the weight of the seafood. When we came in they gave us Champagne and we picked out our seafood and how we want it prepared before sitting down. The waiter made recommendations and how to prepare but also kept reminding us that we control the price, LOL especially when we got 10 prawns for 80 euro They recommend an appetizer to share, then each individual entree. We opted to share everything and seafood paella for 2 to share (good thing too, because we ordered enough seafood that it took 5 of us to finish the paella. We ordered baby squid prepared aduliacian style, cuttle fish grilled with parsley and olive oil, grilled prawns, razor clams with parsley and olive oil, grilled sardines, seafood paella, and tuna tartare. Wow everything was delicious, it's a nice restaurant but everyone was eating with their hands. Best seafood dinner and the tartare as an ending to the meal, I can't even write how good it was. We're heading to Barcelona for the rest of our vacation and we're planning to go to the Barcelona location as well.

A wonderful seafood restaurant concept. You choose the fish you want for a starter and main course. Then you choose the simple preparation of grilled or saiteed with garlic and butter. They greet you with a glass of cava and the rest of the wine list is affordable and delicious. Finally got to eat razor clams and sea cucumbers!

This was a wonderful restaurant, that has a really fun take on seafood. At the front of the restaurant they had three blackboards with all the dishes on them. You could choose one of those dishes or select some of the fresh seafood laid out on the ice. They'd weight the seafood for you and you could say how much you wanted or not. Then you paid and were seated. It was a really nice and modern restaurant. Very friendly service and delicious! I wished we could have eaten there twice.

Arron I Peix should be on your must-eat-at list for Girona. My wife and I were wandering the idyllic historic streets of Girona and happened upon Arros I Peix and our mouths dropped... ok, our mouths dropped AND watered. At first, one might think she or he was passing a fish shop, as you see the fresh seafood displayed on ice in the window by the till. But then... you see tables where customers are eating freshly cooked seafood that has been caught locally. When you walk in the door you have the option of choosing any seafood (as displayed on the ice) to be cooked and then served at your table. Regrettably, and possibly tragically, we decided to pass on this when we came, thinking we would try the place out again the next day (it was closed at the time we wanted to eat the next day). As the restaurant has the word 'rice' in the name we were both inclined to have paella, and were by no means disappointed. It is definitely some of the best in Girona. My wife had the rabbit paella and I had a cod paella. I couldn't recommend it enough. It was really good. One of the bonuses of this restaurant is that they serve wine by the bottle at very good prices. The table next to us--- the one with the phenomenally scrumptious looking fresh seafood--- had ordered a bottle for only €6 or 7. I had expected it to cost that much for a glass. We came back the next day to try some of the fresh grilled seafood, but it was closed. As with many places in Catalunya, Arros I Peix is closed between about 4pm and 8pm. This is typical, albeit a slight challenge for our American eating habits. But the hours or worth noting when looking to eat here (or anywhere in Girona for that matter).

World class restaurant no matter where you are. Just happens that this is in Girona Spain, home to the best cycling teams of the world, game of thrones and where Kabbalah got started. The food is simply the freshest and best prepared. The clams were so delicious the lobster had to be banded so he wouldn't eat them before the customers I've been here four times over the past two years. Girona has taken notice as its always packed and the prices are extremely reasonable. If you go to Girona and like seafood you simply must make a reservation, its that good.

Tuna tartar--- one of my favorite dishes of our trip!

Wonderful restaurant!!!! I wish I could give 10 stars. I came on a two week trip of Spain and this was the best meal we had! We came to the restaurant and were given two glasses of champagne then directed to a beautiful assortment of fish and seafood on ice. The staff were very friendly and helped us choose a great meal. We had Tuna tartar ( incredible!) sea bream and rice with calamari and clams. Would want to come here every week if I were local--- we'll be back next time for sure!

Squid ink pasta & rice with seafood-amazing!!!

The story begins not with a dish, but with a timeline you can eat, charting the ascent of three siblings from humble familial duty to culinary transcendence. You do not "dine" here. You witness a narrative of obsession, transformation, and fate--the kind that only arises when blood ties are mixed with butter, fire, and an unbearable drive for excellence. The youngest of the three, a pastry chef, emerges like a trickster figure from folklore, sweetening the end of the journey with a sense of mischief and melancholy. His takeover of the narrative is not declared; it is felt, as a shift in temperature, in tone, in destiny. The food--what can I say? Each course is like a quiet revelation, as if the universe momentarily aligned to allow perfection, then moved on, uncaring. There is no comfort here, only beauty that leaves you slightly devastated. The architecture of the space is austere but luminous, a kind of sacred geometry. The ceramics and silverware are ritualistic tools, not mere vessels. They suggest a world in which aesthetics are a moral responsibility--as if to serve food without beauty would be a sin against nature itself. To eat here is to be reminded that all creation is fleeting, that excellence is a burden, and that even in triumph, there is solitude.

For those not interested in the details, the quick summary of this place is: mediocre food and…read moreservice for a 3 starred Michelin restaurant, served one member of our party a piece of ceramic (choking hazard) and did not adequately remediate the issue, and gave 3 of 6 of our party members stomach problems after dinner. Save your money and a trip to Girona if you're going from Barcelona and go to Cocina Hermanos Torres, a restaurant that truly lives up to the 3 Michelin star reputation. Here is the detailed account of our experience at El Celler: I dined at this restaurant with a party of 6 on the 20th of May. One of the people in my party had the misfortune of finding shards of what appeared to be ceramic from one of the plates as she was eating. She found them while eating the food and had to spit them out and place the pieces on the side. She notified the waiter that picked up the plates about the pieces of ceramic, and unfortunately, only received a "sorry for that" as a reply, with no other gesture of apology provided by anyone else the rest of the night. Given their reputation as a 3 Michelin starred restaurant, not only is the presence of the ceramic pieces in the food appalling, but the nonchalant attitude towards the incident afterward was extremely disappointing. While we certainly did not expect the restaurant to compensate her meal, a small token or gesture in the form of a small discount, free beverage, replacement plate, anything, would have been greatly appreciated. This is far from what we expect from a Michelin establishment given our experience at a variety of other restaurants of similar caliber we have dined at, and cannot overstate how alarming it is that a choking hazard can make it past quality control and nothing is done to repair the situation even after politely bringing it to the staff's attention. The most impressive part of the night was the cheap taxi we took back to Barcelona. Okay, fine, the dessert part of the meal was fun and delicious, so maybe that was the most impressive, but followed closely by the taxi. Below are other details where El Celler completely missed: - Bread taken away from one of our party members without asking if they were done - No folding or replacement of napkins when someone left their seat - Being rushed at the end of dinner for seemingly no reason as there were other patrons eating that we could see and working through dessert courses we had already finished - Not asked to check in a coat, and instead given a random chair next to our table to throw our stuff on it - Uncomfortably warm temperature - Not everyone having their chair pulled out and pushed in - Seeing other people just standing around and not escorting our party to the bathroom or being helpful in other ways - Gave 3 of 6 members of our party stomach aches and loose bowels after dinner Admittedly, some of the above can sound nitpicky, however, this meal stands in a stark contrast to a meal we had the very next day at another 3 Michelin star restaurant, Cocina Hermanos Torres. Better in every way, they outclassed El Celler and provided food and service above and beyond what I've come to expect. Every single issue I had with El Celler was not present at Hermanos Torres, and did the opposite of what El Celler did to make our experience comfortable and exceptional. I am not sure El Celler is worthy of a single Michelin star, and definitely not three. And if it seems like I'm repeating the same point, this is still less repetitive than the number of times they told us one of their dishes contained a sauce made with the head of a langostino. You might also be wondering if I tried providing feedback to El Celler on this. I did, and not because they requested it via an email follow up like I have seen other restaurants do, rather, through the contact email on their website that same night. No response from them yet, which doesn't surprise me considering the apathy demonstrated throughout the ordeal.

The starter salad was not fresh and not seasoned. The vegetable of the day was overcooked boiled potatoes and green beans with no seasoning. The soup of the day was as thick as glue, and again, under-seasoned. The fresh hake was deep fried and overcooked. The "steak" was a cheap cut, maybe 3mm thin, and looked like something that would be served at a prison. We sat at the restaurant looking at online photos from positive reviews, wondering if we had shown up on the chef's day off. We do not speak Catalan, but when our waitress came to clear our plates, and saw that we hadn't eaten some items, she made it clear that she understood why. We had a dozen items. The pork cheek was decent. The ice cream was fine. The crema was fine. Nothing else. This was easily the worst meal we had in a MONTH in Catalonia.

We were told that the sons of the owners of this restaurant own the 3 Michelin star restaurant just down the street. It's no wonder their kids have cooking chops because the food at Can Roca is as good as home made gourmet food gets. For two people with drinks, our 3 course meal (not counting a poached egg complementary starter) came out to less than 30 euros! We came at the end of the lunch crowd, around 4pm, when they were closing their lunch hours and reopening later for dinner. Despite the odd hour, the restaurant was completely packed but we didn't have to wait long to get a table. The whole place was locals only. Their menu is small and we were told they were already out of quite a few items. We basically told our server to give us whatever they had still available and whatever else she recommended. I can't tell you the names of the dishes but everything was just spectacular. We had these potato croquettes that were so divine, a bit salty from the meat mixed in, but super creamy. Even the potato and peas dish turned out to be really good- simple but satisfying. For the main dishes, we got the ribs with roasted chestnuts, and a stewed beef with mushrooms. The meats were so tender. And then for dessert we got some type of chocolate mousse with cookie crumbles and a coconut cream mousse with pineapple bits. This is the stuff you can expect to get at a fancy restaurant, definitely not at a mom and pop shop. Needless to say, we left very full and will definitely be back next time we are here.
